  1. I’m gonna throw the former HC at HVA in west Knoxville out there into this mix as a Homerun Hire for anyone that could get him back in the HC role.  He started the program at HvA back when that school first opened in 2008?? Or something like that? He left the HC position at HvA at the end of the 2018 season &  took an assistant job at science hill to be closer to family while his kids were a bit younger. Now that his kids are all a bit older I bet he has the HC fever again, and he would be a STEAL if someone got him back in the HC position. His knowledge of the game and energy on the sideline would certainly make a top 5 list in 6A football. He is an old school coach but he knows what it takes to win games.

Who are some names being thrown around for HVA, Bearden, Oliver Springs, and now North View.  I think North View has a beautiful place and some great opportunities to be good....but man oh man it would be a tough place.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a guy like Wes Jones didn’t get a call to apply to the Bearden job. I know he has quite a bit of HC experience, and would be shocked if he stays in the assistant role much longer. He is too good of a coach to be an assistant anywhere.

Science Hill coaches have no idea what they doing WOW. A lot of talent

Whoever made the decision to throw the football with less than a minute to go in the game… should not be coaching football. Period.  That was pitiful.   FArragut deserved to win this game.

  4. Still seems a bit unusual for a Coach to get “fired” or “let go” In this world of High School football, especially in East TN/Knox county.  Too bad Knox County can’t compete with surrounding counties PAY for coaches and teachers.  Seems like that would open up their applicant pool quite a bit.

  5. Wish him well.  Good guy, I think he just bit off way more than he could chew for his first head coaching job.   Who will be the next HC??

HV is a great school and community, knox county schools just doesn’t make it an easy system to be competitive in large sports. Jones did a heck of a job getting that program at HV started.  Maybe one day someone will appreciate what he did to get that program where it was when Potter took over.  I wish the next HC best of luck

  6. Definitely seems like the Hva administration made a huge mistake with this coaching choice.  They literally GAVE a 6a HC job away to someone who had never had a HC job before!!!  Talent may be an issue, but The old HC at HVA ... made something out of nothing, so seems like Potter could do “something...” out first a program that seemed to be in good shape 2 years ago and somehow is facing their first ever ZERO win year.

  7. Hammonds definitely should be thankful for that meeting, because he was NOT the most qualified candidate for the head coach position at GHS. Just hope that same $$ can win football games. Sounds like everyone who didn’t get the job should sit back and say “Thank You” Because they’ve got quite a show to watch unfold now.

  8. Sounds like, the “right people” will leave or stay... either way.  If there is that much drama involved with hiring “the one person from within who applied”... that’s definitely not a good thing. You’re either bought into the Greeneville Football Program or you’re not.

It’s pretty simple.  GHS football will continue...with or without any of the people that are “considering” leaving or staying based on a decision they do or don’t like.

  9. Hope they make a hire soon.  Wonder who knows the names of the people who are interviewing today? Or even if they are interviewing people today? Having a Greeneville Alum as the next HC would be a pretty big win for Greeneville, if they got a good one...just not sure who all is out there

  10. Would love to know who is interviewing, if anyone, right now? And at the end of the day....who is really Going To be making the hiring decision? I haven’t heard anything about interviews happening, before this week....but it seems like they would want to make a decision soon.  Sounds like several good contenders for the job.

  11. Hardin Valley heads down to Oakland for their first ever appearance in the third round of the playoffs. Oakland is a powerhouse, but the Hawks are a well coached, disciplined football team. Oakland expected to be playing Riverdale in the 3rd round....so how will Hardin Valley stack up against the mighty Oakland Patriots??

  12. Praying For Cole to have a full recovery, as quickly as possible. Watching an athlete get hurt is so scary and sad. Hardin Valley played a great game Friday night, as did Bradley Central. Both teams have some great athletes. Best of luck to both these teams as they move forward with the remainder of their seasons and playoffs. I was impressed with the quality of both teams, and as someone's who was not cheering for either team...I felt the refs called a very good, even, game.

  13. I think this game will be a good game. With this being Hardin Valley’s second ever varsity football season I think the improvement they have shown is astonishing. I have to admit that I didn’t have much faith in the team, and I definitely did not think they would have a winning season for several years. Hardin Valley is without a doubt the best coached team in Knoxville. Coach Wes Jones is a great leader and has put together a fantastic coaching staff. Having watched this team form from the ground up, I can honestly say that this program has been formed with class…and Win or Lose the boys (and the fans) on the team seem to always react appropriately, which says a lot for a coaching staff. Hardin Valley has faced a lot of adversity this year with several injuries, and with having their Senior QB miss 2 important games. It would be amazing to see this team make the playoffs, and we might just get to see it! Good luck to HVA and Karns tonight, I look forward to seeing a great game!

The offense has struggled but I think they have improved. The quarterback is just so young and he is making sophmore mistakes but that will change with time. Last yr the offense was pretty good because they had experience in the skilled positions I believe and the defense couldnt stop anybody just the way the game goes when you have youth running the show on O. The defense has played good stopping the run but the pass defense isnt very good but what can you expect with them having all guys in the box except for the corners and safety. They better be careful doing that against HV because they can throw the ball using playaction. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS!
