Hard to beat a good team twice in one year. I’m leaning towards Dresden in this one. Heavyweight bout for the third round for sure. It will be a dandy to watch for sure!
-
Kudos to Mase for fighting till the very end. Respects given. They give it all they had.
-
Uc bend but don’t break. They given up some yardage but have forced the stops when they needed to in this first half.
-
The game should be broadcast on 105.7 and 99.3. I know 105.7 can be picked up off Thunderbolt Broadcasting web site. But will UC do the video broadcast on Facebook or YouTube like they have in the past?

Sir!!! Uc by 35!! I can’t wait to quote this post.

I still stand on my comment about UC and Dresden being on another level.

I bet you played trombone and or the flute. You might have been the offensive coordinator.
Haha,
All seriousness, MASE hasn’t played but one quality opponent outside of Lausanne. After that, only team with a winning record is Middle College. Just not too convincing. No doubt there’s talent and great coaching on this team, but they have yet to be battle tested imo. If y’all knock off UC or Dresden, you will all our respect in sure. -
Yea but USJ was up 10-0 at the half against LA and the bench legs broke at halftime and caused too many injuries. Their lead Tuba had to play Qb

Union City won, 10-6. Then, they played Huntingdon the week after, and scored 3. Imagine scoring 13 points in the final two games? That's tough.
Oh, and by the way, y'all played USJ, Westview, and Huntingdon last year in the regular season, and didn't score 21 in a single game. But hey, scoring 56 on Houston County seemed like a fun thing to do.
Lets move on to this year, scored 6 against Ensworth (a team you thought Union City could win because they had more "heart"), the following week y'all made the trip down to Jackson and lost to USJ, only scoring 19. And I'll buy you a dessert at the Longhorn/Olive Garden (whatever restaurant) you want in Union City because y'all scored 28 on Dresden.
Are you noticing a trend here?
Yet USJ played the same Lausanne team Mase did and lost in a similar score. So by no means would I believe the hype till Mase has defeated a quality opponent. Or even kept it close for that matter.

Is South Fulton a quality opponent sir!
Come on down that highway and pay your money and see how physical this MASE is sir!
Not at all, lol, The first round game shouldn’t even be a game tbh. Wouldnt suprise me if it doesn’t end up like last years Fayetteville trip.

No no no. You’re getting your Memphis all star teams mixed up. I’ll give you a break, because who could keep up. Heck, TSSAA sure can’t. Huntingdon has never played MASE. Ever.
Must be thinking of MAHS. Hard to keep up

I'm going to say pump the breaks here real quick my friend. MASE has answered the physical play. They did beat Huntingdon two years ago, and the did beat the breaks off Lake County last year and won against Peabody. Put a check beside the "can they be physical."
If MASE/Union City matchup next week, I think it'll be a bad matchup for Union City. Can the Tornadoes find a way to score 28 or 31 against MASE? Because Union City hasn't been able to score against quality competition the last two years. That's why I haven't been a fan of Union City.
And what quality opponents has Mase played THIS YEAR? Lausanne?

Just bring all Region 7 1A teams to Memphis for the first two weeks and let cards fall where they may!
One thing about it MASE will be ready to play !
As they should against a 4 seed out of Region 7. Just saying the hype isn’t adding up!!

Bigster UC will have a tough road to get to Thanksgiving. MASE in the 2nd round in Memphis will be a very tough game for them. If they survive that they would more than likely play at Dresden.
After looking at related scores Idk just how I feel about Mase, I know this technically means nothing but I expected Mase to manhandle Middle College, if you look through scores of Middle College/ Kipp game and then Kipp/West Carrol, it just doesn’t seem convincing to me. Again I know means nothing, but I don’t feel Mase is even on the same playing field of UC or Dresden. Just my 2 cents

48 to 30 union city. Mullins will break a big run at least twice. But Lake Countys defense will struggle to contain Union City's big plays. This game could easily have zero passing yards and over 500 rushing combined.
Now way do I see UC giving up 30. Maybe 14 at the most.

One station, owned by Paul Tinkle, has been broadcasting UC games for years and years. Just few years ago, the Froggy station decided they want to be the voice of UC. The people in charge there at Froggy got cozy with UC administration and they are the new local darlings even though they didn't play by the rules in post season last year. Just my interpretation of the facts as I know them.
In certain markets, the media business is cut throat to say the least. And that is a fact. In Jackson, 4 different media outlets broadcast up to 6 games per week.
I was curious to what was going on there. 105.7 has always been the go to for Union City sports for as long as I can remember.

No disrespect what so ever, but why in the world does Union City broadcast on two different local radio stations with two different sets of broadcasters? Just wondering…

Whitehead the rb is a junior I'm pretty sure. MacFarland the QB is definitely back next year. I think their big receiver #23 is also back
Maybe 5 seniors, Clapper the only skill player and has been hurt since week 2 I believe. Should be pretty seasoned next year.

IT'S ON!! Dresden has to go to South Fulton this week. Those Red Devils did some devilish things to us in 2018, keeping us out of the playoffs that year! The only time since 2010 our Lions were kept out of them.. their guy making a perfect, man-on-man open field tackle on the last play for them to win 14-12. They made the playoffs, we didn't. Point is, NEVER assume ANY game is an auto win.. OR loss. On paper & by the eye-test the Lions should win .. but ANYTHING can happen in football. The stories are endless proving that! Dresden's avg is scoring 44 pts per game & allowing 15, while avg of South Fulton is creating 34 on offense with others scoring 25. Yes it's possible that Red Devils can live up to their name and play the devil in Dresden's plans this year, throwing a monkey wrench into Region 7's standings & playoff picture, & the Lions thus-far unbeaten year. It will be a packed stadium for sure, tons of excitement & high energy from both sides. Almost all expects this to be a Dresden cakewalk, but I'm one of those who KNOWS that isn't always how it turns out. Line 'em up, go one down at a time, & we'll see how it turns out! Yes, I think Lions will have a lopsided win, maybe a running clock with reserves getting valuable playing time.. but the thing is, them Red Devils have plans of their own & have a say in this deal too! Can they SHOCK THE WORLD? Possibly.. perhaps.. but not probable. Injury free game for both, & may sportsmanship prevail & safe travels for all. Don't let this be a trap game Lions.. only way to go from here on out is 110% or more one play at a time.. go all-out, all the time. Good luck to S.Fulton the rest of your games, just not this week. GOOO LIONS!
Always love your topic starting. Hopefully both get through this injury free, I know we have already had our share. Neither need any of that this point in the season. We’ve done a good job at cleaning up our early season mistakes. We will see how that goes Vs another top team in 1A. GBR!!
