  1. Is this young man being very heavily recruited? I have heard his grades were lackluster but recently have started improving with the help of working harder and tutoring. Is this true? Hopefully this young man will get a opportunity to play at the next level and do well. Its nice to read about how kids succeed in coming from a single parent home. I think I read where his mother is the only one raising him........Can anyone confirm this info?........Good Luck tonight to both teams,,,,,,,Hopefully a injury free night!

Lacklust? The boy has a 4.0 GPA, Not for sure who is recruiting him, but he's been a vital asset this year.

  2. I'm still shocked that Raider's signature says something about a party at Raider Field against the little ponies. I think the 'Little Ponies' crashed a party at Raider Field and sent them to Maryville /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

You got the beat down head to head. Last year, this year and next year. Instead having to get someone else to do your bidding. Why don't you actually try to beat the Cavaliers head to head? No matter what happens to them, no matter what titles your eagles receive, you still can't beat the Blue Raiders.

  3. I believe Tucker Tipton of Cleveland High School should be a nominee. This senior, who is leaning toward playing football at Air Force, plays quarterback on one of the most potent offenses (33.5 ppg, 370.5 ypg) in the Chattanooga area. He has thrown for over 1000 yards and 16 TDs, while also running for over 650 yards and 8 TDs. He has accounted for 56% of the offense and has also scored 144 points this season for a team that has been very successful with big wins over McMinn County and Rhea County. This is a great athlete, student (4.0 GPA), and person. These reasons alone should make Tucker Tipton of Cleveland a nominee for Class 4A Mr. Football.

  4. I tell you i'm actually pretty surprised at the results, even as a Cleveland fan; and I never thought a score of 41-7 would happen. I was impressed with Cleveland and how they were physical although they struggled towards the end of the first and in the second quarter. Another thing is that Rhea Co. probably wishes they could have played Thursday now, because they really struggled with short passes and catching. The students and players at Cleveland had fun and the overall atmosphere was pretty good for a cold, rainy game.

The thing I'm most surprised at is the Rhea Co. Fans, Man you guys packed that stand full!

Not the most exciting game from a neutral standpoint, but the result does shake up Region 4-4A again!

  5. 10 hours and 20 minutes 'till KICKOFF and boy I am excited! I see it being a great, intense atmosphere with rain or no rain. I mean this game is the Game OF THE Week for Coca-Cola Redzone Wrap-up, TimesFreePress, and other media outlets and this has the makings of a good 'ole traditional rivalry game where the winner takes it all, which adds to the stakes. CAN'T WAIT! I've over heard Cleveland fans/schools getting together to plan some things, and I hear these Rhea Co. fans with gold shirts that say something like Beat Cleveland!?!? I think NOT. All these things said this game should be one of the best games this year and obviously I hope that Cleveland comes out on top. I hope both teams do their best and I pray nobody gets seriously injured because of the wet conditions that are possible.

*Note* - Cleveland Fans are a rare commodity here on CoachT.

  6. Well, I'll be the second Blue Raider and probably the last, since I believe we only have two Cleveland posters on CoachT. I honestly believe this game will be a great one; both teams looking for a region championship, both are rivals, and both want to host Playoff games. Should be exciting.

  7. Great win tonight for Rhea. The leg of Josh Davis was very vital tonight. Punts turned over, and he hit the FG to start us off 3-0. Rhea played a very physical game. Players stepped up after AJ and Swafford went down in the first half. Hope they are both alright and ready to go for next week at Cleveland.

RheaCo, what is the situation for tiebreakers and all that jazz? I know if we beat Cleveland, we have it. But give us a rundown of the possibilities. Also, who are we thinking we might host in Week 11? Thanks

I don't nearly have the intelligence of RheaCo., but here is what I've heard. The Rhea Co. - Cleveland game is down right for the region title. If Rhea wins they obviously will be the region champs. If Cleveland wins, first place will be a three way tie. The first tiebreaker for the region is head to head, but that can't be used so it goes to the second tiebreaker which is overall record. Now saying that Red Bank wins out, Cleveland beats Rhea, and Cleveland and Rhea both win their last game the overall records will be: 8-2, 8-2, 7-3, with Red Bank being the 7-3, so they are out of the picture. Then it goes back to the first tiebreaker and that would put Cleveland ahead of Rhea for the region championship. If Rhea loses out they will be at 7-3, and if Cleveland beats Rhea then loses to Walker Valley they would be 7-3 and if Red Bank wins out they'll be 7-3, if that happens then I don't know who would take the crown. Also Rhea can claim the title even if they lose to Cleveland, if Cleveland stumbles over WV.

Very complicated, but a fitting way to name the champions of REGION 4-4A!

  8. To tell you the truth this game could get very ugly, I say Hixson by 17 possibly even worse.

It's a little past the midpoint of the season and that means its time for Walker Valley to fold. Walker Valley has often started off very competitive, although their opponents are not the best, but for some reason they hit a few bumps with games like Red Bank and Rhea County and they just seem to fall apart. Personally, I believe that it's hard to change the attitude of a group of kids that have never tasted alot of winning success and therefore the rest of their season, past the midpoint, has not had alot of success.

Personally, I would love to see Walker Valley win because it will give them a shot to get into the playoffs. Like Limpybiscuit said, football in Bradley county as a whole has not been that impressive during this decade and it would be nice for another local team, besides Cleveland, to get in the playoffs.

  9. Both teams played well last week, McCallie vs FR, and Baylor vs BA, this week we don't know how things will turn out but we all know that in Battle of Chattanooga both team will not hold anything back. This years game could be as close as last years and maybe as exciting. I think McCallie by 7.

I've seen both teams play a few times each and I think this game will be close. McCallie runs that very disciplined offense, but the Baylor defense is not a slouch. I also think that McCallie takes it by 7 in what should be one of the best games in the Chattanooga area..

  10. I thought walker valley ran the 3-5-3??

I think they may use a 3-5-3 as a wrinkle, but everytime i've seen them they run the 4-3. They have more good size lineman than they do athletic linebackers with size; the 4-3 suits them better because I don't believe they have the personel for the 3-5-3.

  11. I have seen both teams play and I personally like Polk County by 10. Howard has a few backs that have great speed, but Polk County has a hard nose defense that just swarms to the ball. I think the difference in this game is that Polk will be able to get a good push up front on both offense and defense, which will help shut down the Howard offense and keep the Howard defense guessing. Howard is a good team and they will definately have many big plays with the talent they have, but I just feel that Polk has the better edge.

    Good Luck to both teams.

  12. Well, I've seen WV play a couple of times and they are definately much improved from last year. I believe that WV can compete with anybody on their schedule, including Rhea Co., Cleveland, and Red Bank (as already has been proven). The only thing keeping them from wins is poor execution and untimely mistakes, such as turnovers. You take out some of those mistakes and this team could be sitting at 4-1, maybe even 5-1; however, those mistakes are part of the game and for that reason they are sitting at 2-3.

WV, in my opinion, has a solid defense, along with a offense that can find a way to move the ball using two different quarterbacks (one who has very quick feet and another who can throw the ball), a very big running back, and a couple running backs who have quick feet but are not exceptionally fast.

I think this will be a good Region 4-4A game, however, I see Rhea County coming up on top by TWO touchdowns if Walker Valley makes mistakes, otherwise it will come down to a touchdown or field goal in the 4th quarter..

  13. By the way, hats off to the Cavaliers they played a sound game!

I do have a question for Cookeville fans, though.

Was the crowd last night a typical crowd for Cookeville games because there sure were alot of people there?

I also was pretty impressed with the student section and what I guess is a ROTC club in the endzone that shot off the cannon. Everybody that wore Cookeville colors sure showed that they have alot of pride in their school.

  14. Well as a fan I'm dissapointed because a undefeated regular season is nice for kid's to hang their hats on, but overall I think this game help them down the road. Although it took a couple drives to get going, I thought the offense looked good in the first 1 1/2 quarters; they had a good push up front and found a way to move the ball, whether it was on the ground or in the air, but after that it was rough. The defense struggled and I think it was a real surprise to the team because I believe that this game was the first time they had been trailing or tied with a team this season. The biggest thing that I saw was consistency, they just never seemed to have a good defensive series capped with a good offensive series or vice versa.

Overall, this loss is dissapointing, I believe the coaches and the team will use this game to get better and back on track. I believe they'll win the region and make a good playoff run.

  15. Lets here the predictions for Region 4 4A. There should be some pretty huge games to decide the region at the end of the regular season.

    My picks:

1.Rhea Co. (beats Cleveland in 2OT in a close close game or maybe a last second field goal or hail mary, something crazy this by far will be the game to decide the region and the game of the year in east tennessee)

    2. Cleveland

    3. Walker Valley (Big upset over Red Bank)

    4. Red Bank

    5. Chatt Central (If QB gets healthy soon)

    6. White Co. (Surprise team, great RB)

    7. Brainerd

    8. Hixson

(Last four in the Region Hard to predict, flip a coin for them all between (White Co. Brainerd, and Hixson)

Walker Valley and Red Bank have a showdown this week, but I don't see WV being ahead of Red Bank. Sure RB is down this year, but from what i've heard from the newspaper WV will be missing a few players that it will need if it wants to upset the Lions. As far I see it, Red Bank is the reigning Region 4-4A Champions and are definately the team to beat if you want to get recognized as a region contender.
