  1. I don't think his firing had anything to do with on the field results. I know one of the assistants there and I'm sure he'll get a shot at getting the job. He's a great coach. I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he loves being at JCM. Goes on and on about the kids. He said he thought they'd have a good team this year. Didn't mention this though. The timing of this might have been a surprise. Anyway, good luck to JCM and whoever they hire.

  2. Bigorangefan, good post. I hope it works out for everyone. Now about this great coach you speak of. Do tell? Give name. Promote him.

I've struggled with this in my head because I know he'd kill me if he knew I was on here talking him up. However, I would love to see him get this job. I won't go out and say his name on this board, but his initials are KG. The administration there will know who I speak of. And no, for the smarties on this board I am not him. He's a coach and man that I have a ton of respect for and he's destined to be a great head coach for many years to come. Now all Hickman county has to do is have the good sense to give him the job and let him bring in a few coaches with him and I proise you in 3 years you won't recognize this program. I know those are bold words, but I truly believe them. It'll be like nothing Centerville has ever seen.

  3. I know one Great coach who has applied there. He has no head coaching experience and is in his lower 30's. He is just waiting for someone to give him his first head coaching job and I'm hoping this will be it. He has college experience as a coordinator and has been a coordinator for years at the high school level. He will probably bring in a couple good coaches and they'll get it rolling there at Hickman. He has the blueprint to do it too. He was on a staff that went into a situation that never won and helped build it into a perennial playoff team. There is at least one great candidate, now they just have to hire him!

  4. The new head football coach must be the A.D. That's a way a small school like HC can pay someone enough to entice them to take a job that can't be overly attractive to most applicants. Pay him to be an A.D. give the coach an extra planning period labeled A.D. planning and make it a more attractive package. It's ideas like make the baseball coach the A.D. that has HC where they are now. Football rules all! The End!

  5. Hopefully they'll move on quickly and not draw this out. It's obvious the old coach is out now. Maybe they'll name somebody quickly so these kids can get an actual chance to have a real program. The kids deserve better than what they've had from administration and coaching.

  6. Hey big mike and all others who are wondering. If the administration and superintendant will realize that they are behind times and need to make some changes on how they do some things then I can't throw out names, but I guarantee there is gonna be a good head coach get this position there in Brownsville. I know of a couple different guys who have applied and either would do a great job. It's got to be someone from out of town. They need new blood there. If the dominoes fall in place Haywood will be challenging to come out of West Tennessee in the playoffs every year. Liberty will have some local competition for sure. Be patient guys, its supposed to be done by Christmas.

  7. Wow coach nobody, you're a fool. Baseball sure was tearing it up before coach Jackson got to OC. I guarantee baseball has a better record next year with football coaches running it than it did this past year. I guarantee it. They'll be coached for sure instead of what's been going on...Riley??? Are you kidding? And this is still the south. If football is king at your school the rest of your sports will prosper because of the revenue sharing. This is why Pat Summitt and and Bruce Pearl are huge Football fans at UT. They know the more football wins, the more they have in their budgets. It's the same way at OC.

  8. What do you expect from the Greenfield team? They are coached very well. They look like a bunch of middle school kids out there playing. Of course they can't hit. There's no beef in the line up. There are no more Josh Puckett's, Patrick Groom's or Caleb Farmer's out there. This is what you get when there is no strength and conditioning in the school. It's not important to them and only the kids that only play football lift. It's really a shame. These kids have talent, but talent only is not enough to win it all. Good luck to them though. I'll be watching.

  9. If they knew what was best for them they would hire the coach from Obion Co. Great coach and an even better person. Already had some great success with metro type schools with majority minority players. Would do amazingly well there.

  10. Dyersburg has been a team that has really had OC's number....

OC has vastly improved since last year....The change that Jackson made last week really caught Covington off-guard...That change is on tape now...Won't surprise the Trojan coaching staff....Dyersburg is not unbeatable and they are not as good as they have been the last three or four years..OC will have to have a bunch of good things happen to them and a bunch of bad things happen to Dyersburg...OC historically doesn't play real well after they beat a big rival...The Covington and Union City games are two games that are always ones that are circled on the Rebs' calenders..Dyersburg would not be a good team to have a bad game against..

    My pick..

    Dyersburg -35

    Obion Central - 20

You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Why would OC be up for Covington more than anyone else? Covington is nobody special. If you think Dyersburg puts up 35 on Obion you are smoking crack! I know you are an expert and all though since your boy plays......basketball. You're a clown.

  11. You guys are out of your minds. Huntingdon is the definition of the 1 trick pony and your 1 trick is your good running back that carried the ball 80% of the plays in the scrimmage. So there goes your jv theory. That kid is your team. Also you intelligent two people failed to read my post at a high level so I will explain it to you again. No 5A champ has won it running a wing T. The reason you can win it in 1A,2A, or 3A is when your players are better than their players you usually win. That's why Lipscomb and Goodpasture win...give me a break! And yes you remember that powerhouse that used to be Riverdale? They went to a Wing T offense and missed the playoffs last year. Their coach will get fired after this season and its all because they can't score! Also, you threw 2 passes because you can't throw. Did you see how ugly the incompletion was, and the other was for a two point conversion, so congrats he threw it 3 yards. But I am done here. You guys are Huntingdon and you've got your pony who is good at your 1 trick! Good luck on your good kid left, good kid right, and good kid up the middle plays. Oh yeah those fullback wedge and trap plays are ingenious as well! I'm sure you'll be very successful in 1A this season. Come talk to me after the Westview game and we'll see what the tune is!

  12. yeah we looked at your baseball roster and last year's football roster. Just about all those names you threw out there are sophomores to be with a few upperclassmen sprinkled in. Not to mention they are some little dudes too. I hope you guys aren't looking for too much out of some of those guys. The best looking guy by the numbers of size is Villalobos, but this isn't soccer, its football! Like I said on your classification's board, keep running that 4 play offense. I'm sure it will do you well when you come against a team that's more athletic and talented than you.

  13. I'm getting tired of hearing this crap. No Huntingdon couldn't have stopped OC. I'm not sure if OC could have stopped them either, although they did stop them on ten plays the last posession but then Huntingdon got another four to score from inside the 10. So they scored on 14 plays...not 10. But I digress. Huntingdon is a good team with great tough coaching but good luck with that muddle huddle when you come up against a team with equal or better talent. It won't go well I don't believe. You have to have a 1-2 punch and Huntingdon has 1 punch. Give it to the good tailback right, left, and up the middle. Good luck with that! It will work in 1A until the semi finals probably. Heck it might work to a state title. But there's a reason no 5A team has ever won the state championship running a wing T offense. It's a 1 trick pony!

  14. Offensive showcase. Both teams looked great on offense. The defenses were struggling some. Obion looked bad on defense to start, but then they seemed to figure out that muddle huddle Huntingdon runs toward the end. Huntingdon never had a defensive answer as Obion scored at will. I think if it were a whole game Obion wins by a few scores. However the score would have been 50 something to 40 something. Lots of offense.
