  1. With their current team colors on and in the huddle with a different team? Probably not many coaches that would even allow that...especially when the original coaches have helped the school win 10 out of 11 games.

Maybe the new look for 2010?

I would be surprised if it werent.

    Not a very impressive interview?????

  2. Wonder how many teams have coaches come in from teams that are out of the playoffs to help? Just curious...

  3. I will tell you that those things were not said. I can assure you that whatever information you got was wrong. Those things were never said.

I thought you and throwitdeep were on offense not defense? Maybe you guys should pay more attention to football and less to message boards during the day and we would not be discussing this. If our coaches are this thin skinned how can we expect our players to take the verbal abuse that coaches are allegedly dishing out? All you guys are doing is keeping a message board alive and giving someone like me something to do.

I don't know who you are... obviously you know who i am... I never claimed to be a guru... but I do know why we weren't a good football team in the past and I know why we were good under Bill Price and have a chance to be good under Eddie Nunley... give me a call and we can talk football

and most of your post make no sense

5A is that a little better.

My bad kinda looks like you wrote the last post for me. Ha ha

  5. you can say my stock is falling but i just know what i see on the sidelines.

the blocking may have been better on that drive but go back and count how many tackles he had to break...

see that is what is wrong with coffee county, we want to baby everyone and the second a coach tries to instill a little toughness and discipline, how could you not be a fan of one of the most successful coaches in school history?

I am not much older than these seniors, just a few years, they don't need to be babied they need to be pushed, i wish, no i would have killed to have coaches like coy sisk, eddie nunley and bill price in school.

What is it you have to do to be the guru of football like yourself? Play the game on just keep your head up the --- of the coach? What can you tell us about football? What are you talking about school history? It looks like we are headed back to some school history days like 2-8, 1-9, etc.

  6. The players also respect Eddie Nunley. It is the parents that can't get on board with a first year coach who does not have a winning record and is trying to make their kids better ball players. Now, this is a thread about the game, I'll take Wilson Central but hope our boys make a good showing..

How is he making them better? I'll take Wilson Central as well

  7. I never said KJ was the only one playing hard... but against Warren County the only reason we scored is because he was mad and he scored.

As I have stated several times there are a few players that are still giving it their all but there are a bunch that aren't.

You have got to be kidding me. Why would you get on here and say that in the warren co game that we scored because he was mad. You have solved the problem that the coaches have not been able to put their finger on. Don't get me wrong KJ is a stand out player and yes he gives it 110% Monday thru Friday. But to say that is why we scored is funny. I am sure that was not the first time he has been mad. 5A your stock is going down with every post.

It is the coaches JOB to get all they can from each player and the players job to give all they can each play.

  8. I am not even going to respond to anymore of your post... Raiders have a good week of practice and leave it all out on the field Friday night. Wilson Central always plays tough and this will be a dog-fight. Plus I am sure they are pretty steamed from last weeks game.

Coffee County is be coming like UT a basketball school.

Let's pick apart your post shall we?

Surely you can't think that losing two of those seniors hurt the team. One never started a varsity game and the other didn't contribute to the end of the season push Coffee County made last season.

Losing last year's end of the season ace hurts, but at the same time, what was he doing this year? He had one good start. And in that one he still hit five batters with breaking pitches. He was focused on other things. And last years catcher - the players didn't want him around. Sure, he had some talent behind the plate. But at times was lazy and disruptive.

90% of the hitting has been done inside? The only way I see this hurt the team is early in the season. At this point, with as much live pitching as they have seen, the indoor hitting has no affect on the team. They hit outside Monday to I do believe - obviously that didn't help all that much. But I guess if it does affect them, complaining about it at home and then on coacht is certainly the way to approach it.

And yea you are right. Coach Adams left so the team can't win anymore. You forget coach Jones won two district championships, a district tournament and a region runner-up before coach Adams was thought of in Manchester. Granted he did seem like a nice guy and a good coach, but he wasn't that valuable.

Remember, this year isn't all that different from last season. That team didn't impress me all that much but got hot at the right time. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, that team got swept by Columbia late in the season and blew a seven run lead against Franklin County in the tournament before heating up. So don't give up on them just yet.

You did make one good point though, this group has no leadership from its seniors. I guess you should have taught them that in Little League since you taught them everything else you know.

One thing is for sure the season is over and you will get to watch the district in Manchester.

Last years (end of the year ace and what have you done lately) pitcher, (lazy disruptive) catcher and (best freshman that Jones has ever coached) pitcher, would have had to make some impact on a team. Not to mention the Coach that made the game fun.

You just keep working to show off all the work on the field and telling yourself that all is well in baseball land. As you watch all the district teams but CC play in the tournament.

Seems to be a disagreement in the problems of the baseball team.

Let me go on record and say that the season is over. CC will host the district and will not even be playing in it.

As for what DDA has to say, at least you know who he is and unlike most on here is not hiding. Maybe your just mad that the team is not living up to what is expected from Manchester Baseball with your kid on the team.

As for the catcher and pitcher from last year, think they did a lot to help the team win??

Coach Adams had he stayed this year would have been the difference maker no doubt.

You just keep working in the concession stand and at LP fields telling your self all is good.

  11. I think you better check your facts. One senior was at westwood as a freshman and one junior was at westwood as a freshman. Yes the one freshman did come over in the afternoons and played as a freshman, but he was not in the hs building during his freshman year.

And your post means what? hs building freshman team, what are you trying to say?

  12. I'd assume safety must not have gotten any PT or his son didn't. All of the coaches there have forgotten more about basketball than you ever knew. A mandatory clinic? Yeah that will work because as you know, 4th-7th graders will retain so much from 1 weekend per year. You are right though about the amount of play-practice they receive. Hard to find gym time when everyone else in the county puts in for it, not only at the HS but also at the MS & Rec center. Its not like baseball, soccer, etc when you have all day & summer when their leagues play.

It can't be the fact that the team has lost more than they have won year after year under the present coach. Crowd support is down, even the student section is all but gone. Always has to be about PT. Sorry your wrong about that. Have no kids playing any sports at school. The clinic that I was referring to would be for the coaches that coach at the different levels. Your are right about one thing, the coach has forgot more about basketball than all in Springfield.

  13. Before you start bashing the cc high school coaches of any sport and talk about bringing in a new coach we should talk about the feeder programs. Most kids coming into the high school have not been taught basic fundamentals and high school coaches are behind other programs because they are doing what should have already been taught. Example: you have a 6 foot 11 inch kid that didn't even make the team in middle school, then you have a city system that is more concerned about keeping their numbers up to keep a 9th grade program instead of looking at the student athletes best interest.

Lets discuss the feeder programs: Youth basketball has gone from Saturday morning league where you pay a fee, get a shirt and get high school players coaching kids for about an hour once a week on Saturday. Really just go and play with no fundamentals being taught, 4th and 5th grade at the schools system with either a teacher or parent coaching and practicing with the kids two days a week. Probalby basic fundamentals? Next comes: No more Saturday morning league just 4th thru 6th grade under the Rec Center with a board inclucing Coach Taylor. Idea to get more kids involved?? Less will play now than before because only so many will make a school team. Today: Back to the school run teams under the Rec Center and the same old board. In the whole process did you see anything about a coach's clinic or a program to teach fundamentals? Could have been made mandatory to attend. (not meetings) Perfect time to control a feederprogram?? The 6' 11" player did not even try out at middle school. I will agree that the two school systems should work together but, the coach has to put forth the effort for the feeder program not just sit by and blame a system. For years he (Taylor) had a pitiful freshman coach alot of the blame should be placed at that level also. 95% of the players on the team today have played at the middle school level. The real problem has something to do with the fact that not all players on the team get the same chance to play as say a buddies kid? Cricket explain that to all of us.

  14. Well whodathunk it... go get you teaching degree, go into coaching when you are done & seek out the job. Better yet become an assistant, take all the required TSSAA courses & in 5 years you can be a head coach & not have to teach. I'm sure Coach Taylor would hand the reigns over to you since you are probably already enshrined in Springfield. While your at it, you could probably do better than the football, baseball, girls hoops, softball, etc coaches who do what they can with the all that talent & pure athleticism that Manchester youth leagues have continued to put out. (About one every 8-10 years is not to easy to build around - C. Elam '98 & M. Williams '06)

Go Coach Taylor & Red Raiders!!! Keep working hard.

What did Taylor teach to either of these players (Elam or Williams)? The youth programs in basketball have the same problems as the high school (TAYLOR). He gets paid for both and does a poor job in both areas. He can't run a league or a High School team. In another 8-10 years a player will come along as you suggest the hope is he will have a coach to help get the job done.

  15. It is one thing to bash a coach, refs, schools etc. but when you cross the line to talk about a student athlete you have crossed the line. The big kid you refer to is a good boy that works hard at what ever sport he is in, he has good parents that are always there for him and all the other kids, he is a student that anybody would want to coach. Granted basketball might not be his best sport but he has worked hard and has improved everyday, i enjoy watching him and look forward to seeing him at the college level! And if you new anything about sports you would know that basketball helps football players and football helps basketball players. If you think he is such a bad football player, i would love to see you line up against him, you might have a different opinion about him. But i am sure you are not man enough to try that, you are like "SAFTEY" you would rather bash people and hide behind your coacht name. Its people like you that coacht needs to ban from the sight.

Ban from the site because I have different opinion of a coach than you or Pedo??? I don't bash players I leave that up to you and pedo to tell the world CC is low in talent. (do you not think those players read CoachT??) I would just like the players at CC to do well and asking opinions about the team or coach is what the site is for. As for coach Taylor, just stating the facts which you gathered for us and I based an opinion on them. Pedo earlier in a post you had it all figured out as to what the raiders need to do to win, maybe you should apply to coach the team. (oh yeah, you are done I thought or had hoped) Titan21 you just keep telling pedo what to write in the one opinion forum and I think I will stay with CoachT. Also, Titan21 what type of person makes suggestions like above??? The problem is you have no control over CoachT or the opinions on here.

  16. To keep a team that is 0-14 focussed and trying hard is extremely hard to do and I truly believe that those kids are still working to do the best they can...it would be easy for them to throw in the towel.....It appears to me that you started this thread so you could attack Taylor...You didn't say that at the beginning but that's what you wanted to get started isn't it? If you think you can do any better with the players that Coffee County has....go and apply for the job!

and also, at least I know I am not qualified to coach, but then again I couldn't do worse could I

when the thread was started I wanted outside opinions, because I obviously know what mine are. By outside I mean people who are not associated with coffee county by way of a parent, friend of a coach, or local sportswriter. I want people who have seen them play, not just this year but over the years. I want REAL insight not someone who is afriad to make COACH Taylor mad { and by the way I use the word COACH very loosely} I do happen to have friends on the team and no they are not ALL committed to Taylor nor are their parents. A lot are just waiting for the year to be over in hopes of better next year. I didn't start anything till local fans started trying to make better out of a bad situation. Leave the insight to someone that is not biased.

  18. The eight juniors are the hope for this team next year.....hopefully we can continue getting those kids plenty of playing time this year and hopefully that will translate into several wins next year....and maybe a few towards the end of this year....basketball is a funny sport....it's a tournament sport....heck the Raiders might wake up and start shooting lights out and make a run in the tournament, if that happens the poor regular season will be forgoten....but for that to happen we are going to have to be quicker to shoot....it seems to me....especially early on in the games....we are to hesitant to pull the trigger on an open shot....we end up turning the ball over trying to work it around more than is necessary.....that's led to 10+ point defecit's midway through the first quarter in three out of the last four games....but I agree.....despite the poor record....I haven't seen these kids give up yet and you have to give props to coach Taylor for hangin on to them and keeping them focused.....they could have easily tossed in the towel around 0-8 or 0-10....as long as they continue to try though...there is always hope.....like in the fourth quarter of the Tullahoma game....it had been over for a long time but we still had kids (starters) diving on the court for loose balls and hustling to get back on defense.....I hope they can get it straightened out!

Give coach Taylor props???? One season in nine with above 500??? He had a D1 player last year?????????

  19. Tyler Thornton received minimal playing time last year....and very rarely in clutch situations...he is doing a pretty good job this season but lacks a consistent jump shot to be relied upon each night to reach double-digits ...However, he usually finds ways to make up for nights he isnt' shooting well...hustle, good defense, etc.....I had forgotten about Robert....yes Robert did get quite a bit of playing time last year but he isn't the type of player who will take over the game....he will take advantage of opportunities given to him (ex. wide open 3's, lay-ups, free-throws) but will not single handedly take over the game.....that is something CC is missing this year.

    Pedo,

How long has Taylor been coaching the Raiders and what is his records each year?
