Well Chief fans, our trip to the playoffs now has a destination, Gibbs High School, ranked number 2 in the quad with Sequoyah coming in as a number 7. We already did something good, 7 instead of 8, maybe because our strength of schedule, not sure. What does everyone think of the game against the Eagles? And do we know if they have good food up there or not? Will Kenny Chesney put a appearence in?
Some information about Gibbs High School for you. Traffic is always bad before the games as there is a 4 way stop (no light) about a mile below the entrance to the school. Traffic will be backed up and leave early if you can. Food is handled by the band boosters with the typical fare in the concession stands. Parking surrounds the high school but if full, the elementary school about 50 yards further up Tazewell Pike on the left has over flow parking. Restrooms are in the concession stand behind the home stands. The field is in good condition and the visiting stands are metal bleachers (for those that might bring their stadium seats). It will be crowded though. Visiting team locker rooms are located above the field under the old gymnasium. Plenty of 4 foot fence surrounding the field to watch the game from for those that choose. Team website is gibbseagles.net for more general information.
Now about the team. Gibbs runs the triple option. Rarely passes the ball but can do so if needed. Has plenty of offensive weapons but most people talk about the Hibbett kid whom has roughly 1600 yards rushing this year and runs a 4.58 so he can move. Excellent kicker (whom is a sophomore) whom can boot it to the end zone. Big offensive line that is very effective on the quick hitting plays. Only loss was to Fulton this year but still put up 43 points on them. Defense will bend some but they do take chances on making a big play.
I doubt Kenny will be around but you never know around there.

That field is owned by Knox County Parks and Recreation. Unless the Central community speaks up, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

We got the matchup everyone wanted to see! The Bats of Spring Hill vs the Pitching of Gibbs! Battle for the State Title!
Can anyone tell us anything about Gibbs? GO RAIDERS!
I could but I would have to shoot myself if I did.

The Gibbs faithful were wondering the same thing too. We figured we might see Hoke on a days rest or at worst your 3rd or 4th starter.
-
Gibbs 12 - 2. Final in 5 innings.

Gibbs roster sent via email.

Unaka @ Harriman has been moved to Saturday game time 6:00 I believe. How is the weather looking in the Knoxville area tomorrow?
Coach RC
Knoxville area weather is supposed to be clearing up for Saturday games.
-
Greeneville at Gibbs as been moved to Saturday at 7:30 pm due to pending weather.
-
Game has been moved from Friday to Saturday. Game time is 7:30 pm at Steve Hunley Field.

Pigeon Forge should win this one. It dosen't matter if they start Gallihugh or Carter (unless they have a really off night).
-
My apologies..... you are correct.
-
D1 - Science Hill and Daniel Boone
D2 - Sevier County and Jefferson County
-
I think Gibbs will win this one. PF hasn't hit J-Rock well at all and I believe Gibbs will be ready for Gallihugh and/or Carter.
-
Everything is mostly settled. Pigeon Forge and Gibbs play Monday for the regular season title. Both teams have locked down home games except for the district championship site. Union County is the only question mark until the TSSAA rules on their violation.

Farragut 18 - McMinn County 5
Knoxville Webb 12 - Bearden 6
Gibbs 7 - Bearden 3
Anderson County 7 - CAK 5
Science Hill 16 - Karns 4
I haven't seen scores for the Knoxville Catholic vs. Pigeon Forge or Anderson County vs. Heritage games.
-
Hardin Valley is not very good but are trying to get better considering it being only their 2nd year in existance.
-
PM one of the moderators. Riverdaleman or davidlimbaugh are usually around.

CAK are currently playing in the public divisions (AA District 4) with Alcoa, Loudon, Scott County, Kingston and Stone Memorial.

He hadn't been mentioned in this thread until now.

Gibbs goes about 5 deep and definately has the best staff. Returning their top 3 from last year. And get Turner back.
I would have to agree with you. The quality and depth of Gibbs pitching will be hard to beat if all stay healthy.
-
Halls @ Gibbs on Saturday.
Updated: This scrimmage has been moved to Tuesday, March 2nd.

There is always an opportunity to go on to the next level for any unsigned seniors that show some promise, hard work and determination. Just be prepared. Going to the next level dosen't necessarily mean D1. There are many smaller schools (D2, D3, NAIA, JuCo) with excellent programs and educational opportunities out there looking for players. Besides, you never know whom might be in the stands watching.

In my opinion, Pigeon Forge and Gibbs are the top 2 teams in this district talent wise but I haven't seen Gatlinburg-Pittman and Union County since they are new to the district. But I'll give the advantage to Gibbs as they return all but one from last year's team.

A very interesting start to the early games on Day 1. Gibbs beats Spring Hill 3-2 in a close one and Lexington beats CAK 8-1.
