Thoughts?

No BGA ........Ensworth has some athletes.......saw them over the summer at the school during my kids basketball league at Ensworth.....BA type of athletes.....strong looking......of course, never count them out with Ricky Bowers.......time will tell for Father Ryan.....the last time they did something was the late 90's state championship.......these kids now were 5,6,7 at the time........MBA and BA of course...
Who is 5th then?

Depending on the last four games Tim Johnson at BGA. In a season where they moved up to the big leagues, they are sitting at 5-1, 1-1 in the region, and control their destiny.

BGA 35
Baylor 24

Thoughts? Will BGA get their first win against a Super-7 team?

He sure doesnt hurt though. I mean he is the best coach ever in the history of Tennessee High School Football.
Best recruiter in the history, not so much coach.

e/m will have ba, baylor, bga, father ryan, mccallie
w will have cbhs, ecs, mus

How will they work the playoffs?
With 9 teams in E/M region I know that 5 playoff temas come from that. But, just going off of BGA's schedule, they only play 6 regions games.

hillsboro qb matt looked okay in some games. when he played bga he got picked off on his first throw. he has a slow release but he will be fine because of all the weapons around him. i thought bga's qb jamal ramsey looked the best though. alot of the people in the stands were talking about how good he looked with the talent he had. even the lavergne coaches were talking about how they still wished he was at lavergne with all of the receivers they had.
With Ramsey starting, solid backfield and receiving groups, and a MUCH improved line the BGA offense will click this year.
There's around 10 players from the So, Jr, and Sr classes that can play college football. Look for BGA to really make a run this year and the next.

There's a reason for that Daytime. There are not going to be cellar dwellars.
Just refering to Benedict?

great head coach in mcdaniel. they will make the playoffs at least. give it a few years and they will be a power
-
polls for seperate regions or st benedict and briarcrest get left out

bga beat hillsboro, bhs, marshall county, and lincoln county. got beat by lavergne and giles. very good day overall

I totally agree that academics come first. But to stay competitive in football in Div II, you must make a like effort to your competition. If you don't most of the time you will be in the middle or toward the bottom of the pack. Academics do not have to suffer in order to be competitive in football. Just take a look around at BA,MBA, Memphis University School, Christian Brothers, Baylor, McCallie, they all have excellant academics and great football teams.
Brentwood Academy and academics? Come on now. And since there's a smile after that you might be being sarcastic. I hope.

I'm a player and I hate Dead Weeks. If you want to play football you should be willing to give up a vacation. You still got spring break and winter break for all that.

I'll give you that, my facts aren't the best and I basically contradicted myself with the Maryville/Alcoa and Top 5 D2/1 comments, so let me clear all that up.
There are teams in DI that can beat teams in DII, and I guess I kinda generalized my point by saying through and through and hands down. But overall, DII is deeper and more talented than DI. A big part of that is because recruiting and a bunch of other factors, but that's the truth. Even though I go to a DII school, I respect DI schools alot more because they play with the talent they are given. They don't have the luxury of having a QB from Texas and a RB from Georgia.
So to sum that all up, DII is better, but DI deserves more credit and respect.

Does coach U prefer to coach a bunch of athletes? From what I hear BGA doesn't have the same type of player as their competition.
Everything but the O-line matches up in size. They are good, but size will catch up. Besides that, the LBs, Backs, and every other spot, even D-line, matches up fine.

Seems I remember that McCallie & Brentwood Acad. traded wins last year. McCallie won Round 1, and Brentwood, the more important Round 2. It would be fair to suggest that these two teams are "Top 5" DII teams, would it not? Yes, it would. Now, I also seem to remember that one of these "Top 5" DII teams lost to a lowly DI, 2A team. Alcoa, I believe it was, defeated McCallie 24-21.
Now as far as Middle TN, best football, hands down, etc. It would seem that Alcoa, Fulton, Maryville, and Knox Webb all won championships last year. Last time I checked, those are not Middle TN schools.
Now I have not yet run through all the schedules; however, off the top of my head, another of these Top 5 D II teams, Baylor will play a little 3A team, Knox Catholic in 07. Perhaps your forcasting skills for 07 will supercede your researching talents.
ruse?
Alcoa isn't a "lowly" team. I never said they were. I don't think DI is lowly either. Riverdale, Maryville, Alcoa, etc etc are great programs. I just simply said that, and that ppost with the win-loss records shows this, that DII is stronger than DI.
As for Middle TN, overall they are stronger. Yes, programs like Maryville and Alcoa stomp every team they play, either from middle, east or west, but a championship game isn't reflective of the entire grouping of Middle teams. Overall, more talent is in Middle TN. And many public schools in the area don't have quite the talent they could have because of established private school teams that are also in that area.

Top 5 DII teams would beat the top five DI teams(be it from 5A to 2A)
Middle Tennessee has the best teams throughout though. Hands down.
DII AA's Best

He's out but a senior who started since his sophomore year is the backup. He made a big throw on the final drive against Baylor.
