  1. They run the "Parking Lot Offense" They make most of that stuff up. All they have is a couple of recievers and Mason is just above average at best! I know this years team will handle them this time! Between 88 and 52 will give them fits from the defensive side and I think the offense will get it rolling because I dont think that PC can stop us twice. Besides I dont think that PC can pass on us like they did last game and it is evident that they have no run game. SO to make it simple for every one else "SC...Don't Play wit it!"

    Hey. . . . . How did the game turn out? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  2. I'll have to meet you there. I met several PC fans tonight and they are all great people. Mr. Pinder is a great man who does an outstanding job doing the P.A. System at the Firebirds home games. He was as loud along the fence at tonight's game even without the microphone and speakers /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

If my job does not have me out of town as it does this week, I will be there. Should be a good football game against two very good programs. What can you tell me about Fulton?

  3. First Half

Pearl Cohn received the football and got a first down on the opening play of the game but after that they punted and did virtually nothing except turn the football over for the remainder of the half. White House took the ball on the first series and ran it down PC's throat. Payne carried the load on the series. A huge third down pass completion set WH up at the two yard line. Greenwade punched it in from a yard out and the PAT gave White House a 7-0 lead. For the Firebirds the quarterback, Mason, was picked off twice in the first half. The Blue Devils offense wasn't great in the first half but their time consuming first series of the game proved to be the difference going into the intermission.

    Second Half

White House got the ball coming out of the break but they went three and out on their first series and PC took over possession of the ball deep in their own territory. Mason took over on the ground on the series as he drove the ball down the field. He hit big passes to Venoy & Collier on the drive and later capped the drive himself on a one yard TD run. The PAT was no good and WH led 7-6. On the next series Howard Griffin blocked the WH punt and Pearl Cohn got the football deep in Blue Devils territory. Mason again drove the Firebirds HOWEVER this time the defense bowed up. WH inserted #'s 68 & 69 in the game down on the goal line and Pearl Cohn could not get the football into the end zone. White House stood tall and continued to lead 7-6 going into the final period. In the final quarter White House hit a huge pass to Parker on third down and 11 yards to go. This was followed by more first downs as White House looked to add to their lead. When the Firebirds defense finally stood tall they had held WH to what was going to be around a 40 yard FG attempt. Instead of kicking the FG the Blue Devils faked it. William Johnson picked off the FG for Pearl Cohn and returned it deep into WH territory. Mason came out and drove the offense down the field again by rushing it himself. The White House defense had stood talol again on the series inside the 10 yard line but following a timeout Pearl Cohn scored on a third down and goal play. Mason hit Johnson on a 9 yard pass and then the two connected again for the two point conversion. Pearl Cohn led 14-7. White House drove the ball back down the field on their next series. Parker caught just about everything Greenwade threw to him on the drive. In the end though the PC defense came up big as they stopped White House on fourth and 4 from inside the ten yard line. Pearl Cohn went three and out and White House got the ball back at the Firebirds 43 yard line with 40 seconds to go in the game. White House drove the ball all the way to the 21 yard line but in the end Dominique Harris sacked Greenwade with 10 seconds left on the clock. Time expired before WH could get another snap off and Pearl Cohn won 14-7.

Thanks! I know you always give accurate assessments of the games. Glad to hear that the Firebirds pulled it out. Looking forward to next weeks game against Fulton.

  4. I will not resort to the obvious! Yes I am A SC FAN to say the least! But here is the deal! It will be hard for you, your team, and whatever you and your coaches hae to stop us at home! It will be hard to be make extinct from something that has NEVER EXISTED! Your team is going to flame out and Johnny Storm, Mason, #3,and what everelse you have there WON'T SAVE YOU OR BRING YOU BACK TO LIFE! ONE FIREBIRD SERVED FRIED! Our nightmare...IN YOUR DREAMS!

    GO BISON!

  5. Remember that although last year you did "win" the Region title you did "back" into it yourselves last year from your White House loss. So I guess what is good for the "Fried Bird" is good for the Bison! Like I said, we did not bring our "A" Game and if your Offense is sooooo good you only won by 17. WOW WHAT A OFFENSE! IS that all you can put up! With an SEC QB you think you could put up at least 40 a game! OH thats right you have young recievers who are average. We can at least do that (See last week for starts!). So our "powder puff schedule" vs. our "powder puff offense". We already know the outcome...

    SC 35

    PC 14

    "don't play with that!"

What Pearl-Cohn had to do last year was beat Station Camp to become region champs and that is exactly what happened. On a rainy Friday night in Gallatin, Station Camp had theirs handed to them, so go play with that!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Whose fault is it that Station Camp didn't bring "their A game?" /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Last week??? You are proud of scoring 51 points on the #4 team from a weaker region? Please!!! Sounds like you might get your kicks playing with a little something else. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

What team has Station Camp lost to? "PCH, Don't Play Wit It!" /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  6. What Does a Region Championship, a good defense, and a seceond chance at the third best team in the region who is too cocky and is a one and a half player team (that other half being #3) AND are not that good OR disciplined equal...

    SC 35

    PC 14

If Pearl-Cohn is a one and a half player team, what does that say about the 'mighty Bison' who lost 20 to 3 to Pearl-Cohn in week ten? Could it be by playing your powder puff schedule, outside of the region teams, that you are mislead into believing you are a proven team? Do tell............ /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

You keep going on and on about being region champs. You had to pray that White House beat Greenbrier so you could "back" your way into being region champs!!!!!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

And, whomever we have, we are enough to beat Station Camp. . . . just know that. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

To categorize Mason as "just above average" tells me that you obviously know nothing about athletics and what it takes to qualify to be offered a Division I scholarship in the SEC at the quarterback position. Are you a player, a manager or just another one of those misfits who stands on the sidelines and wishes to be either one?

Bison, Oxen, Water Buffalo or Wolly Mammoth. One thing is for sure, the Bison will become extinct Friday night. "One team, one dream" whatever, your nightmare is coming!!!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

  8. Come on Tim, there were 48 minutes in that game. It shouldn't have come down to a 40+ yard field goal or having to go for it on 4th and 3 to win the game. We lost, let it go and move on. The only team that has the right to say that Station Camp is overrated is Pearl Cohn. They can solely stake a calm to stopping SC's undefeated season.

Station Camp is a good football team, as is White House, Greenbrier and, of course, Pearl Cohn. I think all of the teams represent the region well. Good luck to all of the teams. Hopefully we can all move on to Round 2. For those teams on the road this Friday, have a safe trip to your appointed destinations. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  10. How did Pearl only score 18 v. Stratford? I watched Hillsboro put up 56 against Stratford and it could of been 200 if they would of thrown a pass in the second half. At 18-6 the mercy rule never even shortend the game??

A lot of the underclassmen saw considerable time in last week's win. This may have had something to do with the final score.

Stratford has a spitfire in #1. Enjoyed watching him run the ball.

Although few in number, the Maplewood band was actually decent. The problem I had was with the "lady" who continually hollared throughout their halftime performance. She literally drowned out the band. They are few in number so it was difficult to hear them and she did not help thier cause. She appeared to be so caught up in listening to her own rhetoric and apparently thinking she was sounding good that she lost herself and shouted throughout their entire performance. She hyped their "flag boy" to the point you literally could not hear the band.

I think she was jealous that the Firebird band is nearly 100 strong and I counted 8 horns in the Maplewood band. But, this is not a reason for her to disgrace them in such a manner. She was truly unprofessional. Is she an administrator at the school or just an over zealous band parent? I truly hope the latter!

Someone who wants these, I am sure, hard working band members to be heard at halftime, should tell this "lady" to keep quiet so they can be heard. Not to mention, her articulation of the English language was not the best.

  12. Okay I am a little old and lacking on the "sayings" these days so would someone please tell me exactly what all of the fans mean when they say "don't play with it"???? Is that a metaphor for saying do not bet against us?????

I would bet that highschoolgameday22 probably has the initials DG /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Just call it a hunch!!!!

Last year, I started ending all of my responses with "PCH, Don't Play Wit It" and several others began doing the same. Don't worry about it, it is a Firebird thing and you are not expected to understand. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  13. I do not belive that Pearl Cohn is overrated in any way, shape, or form. FAR FROM IT AS A MATTER OF FACT!!!!

Their lone loss came to a Top 10 caliber 4A team in Maplewood 20-0. Last year they lost to that very same Maplewood team 43-7. Last year's team that lost to Maplewood had two UNC signees playing WR/DB in Brian Gupton & Rashad Mason, five completely different offensive linemen (Curry, Davidson, Hudgins, Brown: ALL GRADUATED & Osborne: NOW JUST DEFENSE), an TE who'll join the two WRs at UNC next year in Jeremy Gordon, & 3 defensive linemen (Horton, Smith, Logan). Starting RB Deaveon Gregory didn't even play in that game either and also didn't play last week against Macon Co. I'd be amazed if he's playing this week against Whites Creek. REALLY NOW!!!! What were Maplewood's considerable losses outside of Holt at RB (Cantrell is a great replacement) and the two LBs (Jones & Majors)???? At the ABSOLUTE WORST the Maplewood Panthers will finish the season at 8-2. They could easily finish 9-1 or even 10-0. Nobody outside of Hunters Lane or Hillsboro that's on their schedule has a prayer at playing with them. NOBODY!!!!

The two teams in Region 4-3A, region that PC competes in, that have been getting all of the publicity since the end of last year have been White House & Station Camp. Even though Pearl Cohn won the region title last year the entire season all people talked about was Station Camp. They were 9-0 before PC came to Gallatin and took the region title away from them in a rain storm last October in week ten. This year everyone is on the bandwagon again following wins over 5A Hendersonville & a 28-0 shutout against Sycamore. White House is the coaches pick, the Tennessean's pick, Murphy Fair's pick, On the Ball's pick, & Varsity Sports Media's pick to win Region 4-3A. They are 1-1 on the season but everyone is giving them the benefit of the doubt because their loss came to Alcoa. I know that the three-time defending state champs are great but the score in that game was 41-0 in the second quarter folks. Even with this nobody out there is calling the Blue Devils an overrated bunch. THEY SHOULD NOT DO SO EITHER BECAUSE WHITE HOUSE IS A VERY GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM!!!! STATION CAMP IS A VERY GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!

Pearl Cohn will be just fine. Remember that their season last year began with a 43-7 loss against Maplewood, a 30-26 win over John Overton (a game that they needed to score 24 points in the final quarter to rally from behind and win), a 28-21 win over Sycamore (a game that they trailed 21-0 in the first half), a 14-6 loss to Stratford, & a 35-28 loss to White House (a game that they blew a 28-14 lead in the final quarter).

Pearl Cohn was 5-3 after 8 games last year and the only teams that they had truly beaten up on like a state semifinalist team should do is in the wins over Glencliff, Macon Co., & DeKalb Co. NOT ONE OF THOSE THREE TEAMS WENT TO THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR!!!!!

Following the heartbreaking losses to Stratford & White House it was clear that Pearl Cohn needed something good to happen in a hurry. Fitzgerald was retired & Brunetti was really starting to come under serious fire from all of the "naysayers" out there. This is when 2006 started to look a lot like 1996 (a 2-4 start was followed by 9 straight wins and a state title back then in 4A). Pearl Cohn destroyed Greenbrier at "Bobcat Field" which is something that just doesn't happen. The final was 35-0. Following a bye week that saw Station Camp win another game very impressively the Firebirds had a "shot to play for a region title". I quote this because there was NOBODY who actually thought that Pearl Cohn was going to win on 9-0 Station Camp's home field. Not even I truly believed it though I did pick PC to win the game. Pearl Cohn trailed 10-6 in the fourth quarter in a driving rain storm and had failed to score on several opportunities deep in Bison territory. THEN???? Deaunte Mason took the game over. He threw a TD pass to Rashad Mason and added a TD run and Pearl Cohn won 21-16 surviving a kick return for a TD that gave SC life in the end before PC ran out the time. Brunetti went from a "goat" to a "savior" in leading PC to the first region title in the school's history since the 2001 season (they split the Region 6-4A title with White House that year). It was the school's first outright region title since 1998. LOOK IT UP IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME!!!!

In the playoffs Pearl Cohn beat Polk Co. 6-0 (best #4 seed in 3A football history outside of Livingston Academy in 2005), White House 29-9 (avenging earlier loss), Sycamore 32-18 (in another very wild game between these two schools). A 5-3 beginning to what you all were calling "a disappointing season" turned into 5 CONSECUTIVE WINS OVER PLAYOFF TEAMS and a home game in the state semifinals.

Pearl Cohn lost in the semifinals 26-12 to a very good Fulton bunch from Knoxville. The #2 seed out of Region 2-3A beat 4 REGION CHAMPIONS on their way to winning the 2006 Class 3A Blue Cross Bowl. Fulton beat 1-3A Champion Carter, 2-3A Champion Catholic (both Knoxville schools), 4-3A Champion Pearl Cohn, & 5-3A Champion Lipscomb. AGAIN.........LOOK IT UP IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THE NUMBERS!!!!!

Pearl Cohn is going to be just fine. Coach Tony Brunetti and his staff are doing an excellent job over there and despite losing all of that talent from last year's great bunch they still have an opportunity to legitimately say that they can win Region 4-3A and challenge to go all the way to the Class 3A Blue Cross Bowl. Deaunte Mason is a great player at QB. He has the talent and the overall will to put a team on his shoulders are carry them. He has three pretty good receivers to throw the football to and hurt teams. Johnson already has several TD catches on the year. Gregory, when healthy, is going to add a much needed boost to the offense. He is a 1,500 yard type of back. Defensively the lineabckers make for a great foursome. Johnson & Sweatt are two very rangy and athletic players who can cover receivers as well as play tight against the run. Inside Osborne is a beast. Howard Griffin may be the best overall defensive player in Class 3A. He'll flat out stick you!!! The key to the Firebirds is the line. If they can get some protection for Mason and come off of the football and then defensively if they can get some gap pluggers to allow those very talented linebackers to run around and make plays then they are going to be very diffcult to beat.

After all, there aren't too many "Maplewood's" in Class 3A

    Amen!

  14. Well, if anyone thinks peple from Macon County don't support football...you should have seen our stands last night!!

The home stands were full and there were at least 75 of us on PC's side. Everyone knows the only reason we lost the game was those 3 bad calls from the refs.....I guess someone from PC paid them off.....(opps....I turned into a Westmoreland fan there for a minute) (haha)

Gotta keep a sense of humor...

Seriously....I was proud of our team last night....If we had played anywhere near that intense in the first 2 games we'd be 2-1 now......

Take away the 2 scores that were a gift and it was alot closer....they were just SO MUCH bigger and SO MUCH faster than we were....and man they looked confused when LANCE REID went 90 + yards on that kick off...that was worth the price of admission....

    GO TIGERS!!!!!

Of the 75 on the PC side, 5 or 6 were female MC students who appeared more like little strumpets than anything else. They heckled the PC players during the game, trying to pass paper messages to them. After being ignored by the PC players they turned their attention to the band. It became so out of control until several PC parents had to literally ask the girls to stop their foolishness and run off the girls or should I say "run off the misfits." It was ridiculous! The misfits came back and continued their heckling like a junkie looking for his next fix. I was embarrassed for the girls and for the MC fans as these students did not represent MC well, especially the poorly clad bleached blonde with the blue and white ribbon in her hair. I hope the students decide to represent their school better and not display such inappropriate behavior as the football season continues. It was a total disgrace!!!!!!!

  15. Basically, to sum it up, the Tigers will get massacred till the half. Then we'll see a PC tremendous band, and then the massacre will continue on to the end of the game. Bring your crying towels boys, it's going to be a long night.

Very accurate summation. Pearl-Cohn by, at least, 21! PCH "Don't play wit it!
