  1. GP could greatly enhance their chances and vastly improve the linemen if the Prin. would allow a wrestling team to be started in the Burg.

They would have the ultimate name teh Highlanders and waht better feeling than to go out in a kilt over a singlet and beat a guy who knows he got whooped by a guy in a skirt....

Traditionally GP has had good lineman w/o wrestling. BTW Walked by the Thicket few minutes ago & thought I saw a 3 big red trucks.

  2. I saw some footage of #10 for GP... the kid looks like a player. From what I saw he lines up wide sometimes but also plays in the backfield. Anyone know where he lines up the majority of the time?

On the field. WR, Slot, TB, QB in wildcat, DB, Special teams, water boy, etc. Good ball player. Even better kid. Quality individual.

  3. If, If, If. Just glad TSSAA hasn't decided to determine wins and losses by almost. Just great to be a GP fan or a fan of the weaker team (lol) cause I get to watch them again Friday night and you get to dream about what happens when you through a horse shoe almost to the stake and the better team throws a ringer. (BTW Most of HV mistakes were forced by GP taking lead and forcing HV to try do things they didn't do well.) Go GP friday night and all the warrior fans can go eat BBQ at the Firehouse or come to Gatlinburg, eat at "The Best" and come watch the two teams that didn't almost beat HV play (and dream about the world of ifs and buts). Enough said.

P.S. Wonder if Ole Miss thinks that they almost beat UT yesterday? Game might have been different without all the mistakes.

  4. Just stating facts. It always is more special when u win with kid from your city or town.

Was it less fun winning with Smith living in Anderson County and Cox coming from Gibbs? Couldn't you pull any Halls kids?

I find it hard to believe it's been more enjoyable this year than last. Seems like they had another kid transfer from Gibbs in the last couple of years.

  5. You are right the senior class did win the East TN State Title when they were 8th graders. I think Quarles and Hopson are the only seniors that played on that team. The other players such as Andy McNeese and Landon Morrison excelled in other sports (football) and decided not to play basketball anymore. It happens all the time at Greeneville, athletes decide to Concentrate on 1 or 2 sports that they like better or thing they have a shot at a scholarship.

East TN Sectional Title maybe not state. That section includes teams from Athens, Lenoir City, Loudon, Harriman up through upper east tenn.

Don't have a horse in this race but outside Memphis is there any other district that has this many transfers? Isn't it kind of hard to single out GP when Fulton, Carter and AE have historically had transfers. You don't have to look too far back to see the kind of impact transfers have made for all of these?. Campbell has certainly been a nice "pickup" for the Falcons this year and I have a little trouble believing he transferred from Bearden for academic reasons. It was pretty much a given when you look at his dad's blowup with Blevins. Why is the GP coach being singled out when Coach Wright (which is a good friend) is given a free pass with regards to recruiting? Everything is done above board at Fulton but players like Campbell, Styles, Gallman, Bryant and others certainly have helped the success of their team. :hungry:

Thanks for pointing that out. Seems like noone else sees that.

  7. Luvgolf20 or should I say Mr.Buckner??? Father of Chase Buckner who plays for Union County who also wears #20 and plays golf?? Anyways funny thing is that GP was traditionally a dang good basketball school. Donald Dodgen(he is now at Faragut) coached there and was very successful. Ken Wright had a great run for about 5 to 6 years where he went to several SUbstates and won several District Championships. And lets not forget GP played your Union County faithful last year in the District Championship and has made it to the region tournament the past two years. SO obviously GP is headed in the right direction. And as far as the transfers go kids transfer all the time!

At AE,Fulton,Anderson County,Gibbs,Maryville,Catholic,Bearden, West, Central etc.....

Where you guys messed up in was letting Brian Jessie go!!! You lost Tyler Smith to Anderson County and went from a sub-state team to an average ball club.

If you're right about luvgolf it explains a lot. Lot of sour grapes. Jealous because his UC team hasn't done as well in the new district as GP? Questionable call? That isn't a fact it's an opinion. BTW Seems like several that stepped up against UC the last time were boys that were born in raised here in SC (Maples, Barton, McCroskey, &Jackson) the ole "pot calling the kettle black". The ratail chants from the student body were bad and administration should have stopped it. You may deny but you know what went on. Even your own security finally had to go stopp the students. As you I've watched UC for several years and UC athletes seem like they don't know if their from Union Co or Gibbs because their always bouncing back and forth.

  8. It looks a little more "fishy" when you're the only school in town and a football school at that. TSSAA understands that kids want 2 play 4 a coach and team that has a chance 2 win state every year. G-P has never had much of a program in B-Ball.

So its ok for Fulton and AE. Just looks fishy for GP. Makes a lot of since. You don't have a clue how many students transfer in and out of Sevier Co Schools during any given year. Find something else to whine about.

  9. G-P might need some more transfers b 4 they are able 2 handle Fulton. G-P fans, for the most part, are rude and obnoxious. I guess they think because they may have $ that it gives them the right to curse and show their rear ends. Go falcons! It dont matter where they play, G-P Is not neare good enough 2 challenge the 2 time defending state champions!

I was at the game Friday. You and photoman need to quit whining & get your facts straight. As far as transfer students I believe Fulton has their share too.

  10. Let's see if I can help with a little bit of the confusion. McCroskey's original post was about was a complaint to TSSAA that Coach P shouldn't be allowed up in the coaching box because he is not listed as head coach by TSSAA. Now why complain? Either the person or persons either tried to rattle the team or maybe jealous of GP's success so far. What many thought the first game after complaint was that one coach would try anything to win. You decide who for yourself. As far as figuring it out. Well GP beat both PF & SC since then. Did GP play as well in those games as they did against Carter? Probably not. Was it because Coach P was seated? Probably not? Both games were against other county teams where emotions run high & anything can happen. Just wonder? Would anyone have said something if GP was 0-20, 1-19, 2-18, etc? PF starts a kid who transferred this year as a senior, starts another who moved here in 9th grade and their referred to has "home grown". Sounds like a double standard.

  11. Actually Carter won by 8. Game was like watching 2 or 3 games. Carter jumped out ahead 22-12 1st quarter. Then GP outscored Carter 23-7 second quarter (believe that's right). Wilson did get in foul trouble during 2nd Q. 3rd Q Carter came out and hit 3 quick threes (1 by Ballinger and 2 by Wilson). To retake lead. Wilson then got his 4th foul and set most of 3rd and couple minutes of 4th. Carter had double digit leads during 2nd half. GP had a player get hurt (did not return) after cutting Carter's lead to 2 in 4th and shortly after GP PG fouled out. Carter shot well. Wilson had 28 pts and shot like 60% or better from the floor. First chance I've had to see him play. Certainly was in a zone offensively even though he sat a lot in 2nd, 3rd & and some of 4th. Should be a good game next time they play.

  12. In 30 plus years of coaching, Hammonds has never beaten an Austin-East team.

Slam Coach Hammonds if you like but doubt it would take a whole series for him to recognize unbalanced line. If the best you can comment on is my spelling or grammar then don't.

BTW This ColumbiaBlueNWhite never lost to ColumbiaBlueNScarlet while in high school.

A winning streak always starts with 1 win anyway maybe tonites the nite. (Sorry I didn't spell every thing correct.) I'm sure there are a lot of teams AE would rather be facing tonite. You know noone gave Rocky a chance to beat Apollo. I would take slow and physical tonite if we win. We might do you a favor by winning. Best my memory serves Apollo didn't fair very well after Rocky. Maybe we can keep Apollo (AE) from facing Drago (Alcoa). (Hope my Rocky trivia was correct.)
