  1. Quote from easttnref.

(This will be fun to watch a private school get what they deserve playing with the big boys the next 4 years.)

I don't have a clue who plays who, but why do private schools have a target put on their back by the publics. I guess from your name you are a ref. I would hate to be Father Ryan playing Bearden and have you working. Can you say "bias"? Guess they would "get what they deserve". /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

    Schadenfreude

  2. I would think the Farragut Bearden game is less of a game than the Seymour Powell game will be becuase we all know how good Bearden is and the Seymour Powell game will be within 2 goals either way and is always back and fourth

I know though Seymour and powell are not a west knoxville teams so they should not be considered a good team right observer

I have seen both Seymour and Powell play this season, and I certainly think the game between them will be worthwhile to see. Both teams have talent and coaches that push many if not most of the right buttons. I picked Powell to win only because I think they are a bigger school and as a result they have more depth.

  3. Tonight there are 4 big games in Knoxville

Anderson County 1 and Catholic 4

    Bearden 3 and Farragut 1

    CAK 3 and Maryville 1

    Powell 4 and Seymour 2

    Karns 1 hosts West 3

All these games should be close any one have any thoughts or predictions?

Do you know where the games are going to be played? Predictions above including Karns v. West

  4. H2ODog:

Fair comment about the private schools out West.

ECS, St. Agnes, and Briarcrest are all excellent teams.

And lest we forget, the SAA team of a couple of years ago featuring the Kinsella sisters and Kelly Dyer is (or should be) on everyone's list of all time best TN high school teams.

  5. I think it was BigG who hit on something I'd agree with. Most of the time in a game, when the score gets to 3-0 or 4-0 (the Emsworth / ND game notwithstanding) you know it's going to be a blowout. A good sport would make adjustments at that point, probably while the game is still in the first half of the first half, and not wait until the game is 8-0 and the weaker team is completely demoralized.

  6. As an avid reader of these posts, I finally had to register after this game and comment on the sportsmanship a couple of the CAK girls showed this evening; #4 and the goalie. As a Farragut parent, we're obviously disappointed about the results, especially after seeing Farragut pretty much control play in the first 15-20 minutes (but not generating any opportunites). Maybe it took CAK that long to get warmed up, but they certainly took advantage of their opportunities...4-0

My daughter is one of the Admiral girls who was injured today (2nd half third goal). Left foot got tangled up in a scramble in the box and got kicked. As she was helped off the field, it did not look good as she was dragging foot with no attempt to bear any weight. Top of foot is bruised, and pain has subsided considerably since the game. Will go for xrays to confirm no break.

Anyways, after the game, the two CAK girls went out of their way to stop by, as we were still with the trainer on the sidelines outside the 18, to check up on my daughter and express their concern. A real class move which really touched my daughter, as she commented on how nice it was of them to do so.

Losing is pretty tough and difficult to get over, but actions exhibited by these two young ladies made is less bitter.

This is certainly a good story worth sharing. Let's hope your daughter's injury is not serious and that she'll be back out there soon.

  7. The Lady Cherokees are young. Only 4 Seniors (3 of which are starters). We start about 6 freshman/sophomores each match.

Started the season out with the Bearden tournament--not a brilliant way for a coach to start the season. But we are showing signs of improvement and hope to be peaking in October.

The boys--we look good on paper. Returning most of last years team. But boys will be boys; so you never know.

    Congratulations, CREE.

  8. I guess news travel fast, we will play our first home game on the field tomorrow weather permitting, its dimension is 115X75, the parents and the players worked on the field all summer long, we still have some challenges, but for the first year we are extremely greatful and proud of the new field

Congratulations soccerCoach. You have a right to be proud, I think.

  9. Ravenwood should be pretty good this year. Did not lose many starters and they have a bunch of seniors returning with some key Freshmen and Sophmores joining that were not on the team last year. Looks to be a tough District this year with Ravenwood, Brentwood, Franklin, Centennial and Independence.

Probably the toughest AAA district in the State...again.

  10. CAK @ Bearden should be a great marquee matchup early in the season. Bearden being the offensive jugernaut that they have become vs CAK who quite possibly might have their best team ever. I believe this will a great game! Someone needs to take it upon themself to give a detailed report on this game (LL, JM?).

I'll start off the predictions with Bearden 3 CAK 2

I'd go with Chasanooga...CAK is very good, but Bearden has just a smidgeon more in offensive weaponry. Bearden 3, CAK 2. CAK will have to find a way to control Porter and Turner (the "er" kids?). Maybe they can tie them up before the game?

  11. If you want your daughter to be the best player she can be, go to a club that is committed to and capable of good skills training for the younger players as opposed to over emphasis on rankings, excessive travel, winning / losing. If the kids get a good base of skills (e.g. excellent touch with a ball), success will come in the U12 and beyond age groups.

  12. Because of reasons out of my hands there will be no poll for the up comings girls season

But i will return next spring for the boys

Get well soon, mj, look forward to having you back. I was always amazed by your knowledge. The polls stimulated lots of interesting discussion.

  13. Brittany Hoffman, Callie Jernagin, Julie Thompson- All returning all state players from CAK

Great name Gunters. I'd add Amy Porter of Bearden. Ashley Reveiz and MC Suhocki of Farragut. Actually, Bearden has several girls a shade below Amy, in my opinion, but she's a real difference maker. Top GK's: Caitlin Cody of West and Loren Fritts of OR.

  14. Well Region III showed pretty well at the National's, concluding today. Or should I say North Texas showed pretty well.

Dallas Texans Girls won U15, U16, and U17 age groups.

Dallas Texans Boys won the U16 bracket. Andromeda (also North Texas) won U17 and U18 brackets. Solar (yes, North Texas) won the U19 bracket.

That's 7 out of the 12 age groups from one state, actually one metropolitan area.

I bet those are some pretty entertaining intersquad scrimmages at Dallas Texans practice fields!

  15. like I said, everyone looks at the same thing and sees something different.

I saw a keeper mishandle two balls. Other than that, not much else could be evaluated to validate or invalidate your comments.

    Best of Luck this season.

Becuase of all the discussion here I decided to look at the video. Canes, I think the keeper probably wishes she had gathered the first shot, but it looks like the keeper makes a nice diving tip on the second shot forcing the ball off the post. The aforementioned, alert OR player is there to tap it home with her head. Nice play.
