I get the assumption Betsy and Greeneville try to isolate the 4A to themselves IMO it sure feels that way. Tullahoma was a shocker IMO they don't want any lower east Tennessee teams in finals. The Mavs are here to stay.

Isn't trying to isolate 4A to themselves the same thing as winning a 4A championship? If that's the case then guilty as charged lol. Why would we want any team other then ours in the finals?

Reality is that Alcoa has done fine in each classification they've been in by winning state championships and beating bigger schools including taking Fulton to the woodshed multiple times as well as Elizabethton and Greenville but leave it to fan of a nonrelevant school to cry about a team that they are like 1-14 against. Snicker

Reality is Greeneville and Alcoa are 1-1 against each other meeting in 2011 (42-14 Greeneville) and 2012 (42-0 Alcoa). Get off your high horse...

  3. The injury excuse is getting old. There are two games left in the regular season everyone is dealing with injuries not just OR. You're a 5A program just be lucky you have the depth you do have. Greeneville took OR to the woodshed last night, period. Greeneville played with an intensity Nuke town wasn't used to playing against or ready for. The Devils have been forcing turnovers all season long what happened last night in Oak Ridge wasn't a fluke or just OR shooting themselves in the foot. Greeneville had every bit to do with all of that.

Just my opinion but when you have success like Elizabethton has had over the past few years. When you win 2 out of 3 state championships parents/fans expectations are going to be high. And there is a standard.

Let's be honest from a football perspective offensively when you graduate kids like Hughes and Rollins that accounted for the majority of your offense and those two kids are a rare breed of athletes that you might not see for a long time. Same thing with Cory Russell that played there. And then you look at the hogs they had on both sides of the ball the 2 years they won it back to back.

This is a different team with a totally different identity than your past 3 seasons. You don't have a certain QB that is seasoned much less gotten a lot of reps. You don't have a freak of an athlete like Hughes that could catch anything threw at him in a 10 mile radius and get it out and go in the backfield with allusive play making abilities.

You also hear that the playbook is vanilla and Elizabethton doesn't throw the ball enough. Well there could be a reason for that. Their not the type of team that is going to have success throwing the ball 15 or 20 times a game. That's just not who they are. Now do I think they need to throw it down the field a little more yes but as far as them throwing the ball all over the field consistently and having success  that's not gonna happen with the situation their in.

Offensively- They're going to have to be more consistent and tougher up front so they can establish a running game. Also they have to block better in the flats.

Coaches gotta find a way to get the ball into Orton and Griffins hands down the field to take some pressure off Russell and Stephens. They are to athletic and very capable of making big time plays.

Defensively- I don't think they are playing that bad but their secondary has to do a better job of defending the pass. Tackling has got to be a little better but that will get fixed. Greeneville had 18 first downs to our 4 on Friday so more 3 and outs and ability to create turnovers needs to be a main focus as well.

Bottom line is the seniors hasn't ever had to be in a situation like they are going through right now facing  a potential 0-3 start. The only thing the cyclones can do going forward is to keep getting better at all the little detailed things and ignore any negativity and focus on being a better football team each day.

    "Just my 2 cents"

I like what you said about players, staff, and parents having high expectations an that's true. As a Greeneville fan I can say we've been there, heck we still have really high expectations every year. Most of these young men have been watching the devil's play since they were kids they know what's expected of them they know what they're there to do. That drives them to be better. We've been the big dogs an we've also had our season ended early unexpectedly, on more then one occasion lol. If the system is there which is sounds like it is then all of those people have got to have faith in the system. your program will reload the foundation is already there.

    Lol, this defies belief.

Me - posts accurate info that only someone connected could know combined with historically accurate info.

You- no way he's a former mav

All because I call out the BS when I see it.

BTW  is this Chris or Ryan? Neither of which I have issues with. Chris is good to the kids and Ryan always helped the younger kids when he was a player. Nick is a good dude too. He needs to get the bed on that Ford truck fixed though.

You're talking to yourself again Willie

Devils are trending down and Mav's are trending up. Keep believing old hope. NOBODY has it better. Our kids believe and have worked extremely hard.

What gives you the indication the devil's are trending down? Were the margins of victory not enough in the first two games for you? Personally I think we're flying under your radar but not AC's. I have no doubt your kids believe and have been working hard but don't forget what team they've been chasing all these years because they're bout that life too.

Why are you on this thread go somewhere else. How can you be a former mav?

Dudes a phony from Oak Ridge that makes fake accounts to stir the pot don't take his bait. Based off his post, logic would tell you he's definitely no former Mav. Y'all are to proud of your program and what you've built to be on her bashing it.

Coach nobody has it better just remember. We have a lot of haters that don't understand this level of work and dedication.

You're the Dallas cowboys of TN high school football haha. No real reason it's just fun watching the mavs beat their chest all season then get bounced the second round.

This thread does not seem to be generating much excitement, which is odd considering these are 2 top 4A teams.   Sure Elizabethton is down this year but they're certainly not out.    I do look for Greeneville to win this one but anything can happen.

When Greeneville plays Betsy anything is possible. Both teams are 0-0. I believe it so quiet from both camps because of the mutual respect these two teams have for each other. I don't think you'll see much trash talk however DevilMan is in town lol

The Mavs abilities talent and just brut strength should easily take care of any competition. You Will always get those pretenders like Greeneville but the Mavs this year and I am being confident will not hear from the ghost of Greenevilles past.

    annulment

Remember how hard the fall was last year Mav? Contemplating hanging up your CoachT cleats because of the heart ach. Stay humble my dude still lots of ball to play.

Gave you an upvote for being a hog molly. Well Earned in your day!

I've always loved the trenches. Eating linebackers was my favorite lol. I wish I got to play as a pulling guard for Greeneville but tackle is fun too lol. I'll be in town for the Seymour game can't wait to see these guys get after it!
