  1. And yet Baylor is still a few years behind the McCallie win streak.

That's been a long time ago now....I doubt anyone is thinking about anything but the current Baylor streak. Especially seniors of either school....as the Baylor kids have never lost the game and the McCallie kids have never tasted victory. I would expect a very good game. It is amusing though at all the crying McCallie fans did when Baylor started having the game on their campus. Personally I think having it on each respective campus is good for the schools.

  2. Only way to stop Elder is for the Baylor student body to find the Ensworth bus and weld the door shut. Ricky will have a new game plan for Baylor to contend with. Hard to beat a team twice in DII, especially Ensworth.

My prediction, Baylor will shutdown Elder in the 1st half and they will go into halftime leading 17 to 7.

Baylor will feel really good about their 1st half accomplishment, but Ensworth will come out and score on a big run by Elder early because Baylor defense got relaxed and Elder will take advantage. The momentum will shift and Elder, who was shut down in the 1st half scores 3 more times, one a punt return and Baylor will lose 35 to 20.

Hey Baylor DC.......Unless you double team Elder or send 2 players after him on every play until the final whistle, he will have a big night. Don't let your guard down (MUS, BA, BGA and MBA did this year) and you might have a chance.

Again I say to Baylor DC.....You have to stop Elder to win....that is your game plan!

I feel pretty sure that Baylor's coaches and Baylor's players will not come out in the second half relaxed as you say. After all this is for the state championship. Ensworth will need another plan as you say because getting beat 42-14 well, that game plan did not work. Good luck to Baylor. Hope you guys bring it home this year.

  3. I wouldn't say Ensworth is a one man team. Their defense is impressive, they have good receivers, and to say that Bowers doesn't hold a candle to Parker is pretty ignorant. He has done everything they have asked of him this season. His numbers aren't off the charts nor is his arm strength or size, but there is something to be said for his efficiency and intangibles.

I'll take Ensworth in this one, only because they lost to Baylor earlier this year. Oh, and they have a kid named Corn Elder.

I will take Baylor in this one. They shut down Elder earlier in the year. That might not happen again....but with the Baylor QB, a strong running game and the best kicker in the state...I take Baylor. Baylor seniors Barrett Gouger and Henrique Ribeiro just won D2 players of the year and that is pretty impressive. But Baylor is going to have to hang onto the ball...which has been a problem for them in the playoffs. Bring the championship home to Chattanooga! Baylor's kicker kick's another 50 yarder to win. Baylor 31 Ensworth 28.

  4. BA should be in the discussion, but in my opinion they will end up playing Baylor, at Baylor and will not come away with a win. Beating Baylor twice in one season will be tough. Baylor did not play up to there potential in the 1st BA game (turnovers). Ensworth will walk thru the other bracket and meet Baylor. Hard to beat Ensworth twice in one year plus Ensworth has the mental advantage over Baylor due to last years championship game. So Ensworth will repeat.

Sorry Memphis just not your year to win.

I have to disagree. Ensworth would not have a mental advantage because they won last year. Baylor's pounding of Ensworth this year got the mental thing out of the way. Add to that...that Baylor lead the entire way in the championship game until the very end. It would be a very good game for sure if it happens.

  5. This just in...No need for FEMA. The approaching tornado loses steam and the weather clears in time for a Red Raider victory. Go Baylor!

:roflol: Good one bruisermom! Good luck to you....I will be pulling for Baylor in spirit. But will be at the Red Bank game. :thumb:

  6. Baylor played a dominating game against Ensworth and has had an undefeated season to date. McCallie lost to Ensworth but has beaten every other team handily. Should be a great game but Baylor I think is just too talented. I think Baylor will extend their streak over McCallie. Baylor by 10.

  7. Oh Baylor won straight up. I'm not making any excuses at all about that.

My thoughts had more to do with where Bradley is as a program, and comparing to the level of play I wish to see. I was more intent on comparing in regards to the long drives where both teams played at the same level, without the critical mistakes so much that Bradley made.

Well said. And again, I really was not talking about you. Good luck to Bradley.

  8. You may have a point, but Baylor scored with their starters with about 4 minutes left as well, so should we take that away. Both of those scores were on 80 yard +/- drives in the 4th quarter. I was thinking more about the shortfield scores off Bear mistakes. We did trade INT's at one point which gave Baylor the field position to kick the field goal and I counted that one.

And it was a very good game.

I think my point was that...not you so much from reading....but Baylor won the game period. Just seems when a team loses some fans try to make excuses or whatever. Again, not really you....but they won. Have a very good team and did it away....at Bradley. That counts for alot too. Not my dog in the hunt....I just hate excuses I guess. Good luck to your team.

  9. Read some interesting things here.

First off, the radio broadcast for all Bradley Football is 93.9 FM. Corky Whitlock is in his 51st year of broadcasting Bradley sports. Earl Rowan is handling the color and stats.

Now, to the game itself. Bradley lost straight up. But saying the scoreboard is the only thing that counts is avoiding the whole truth. Consdering where Bradley football was when Coach Floyd took over, it has moved a long ways to the better. This Bradley fan has been watching games a long time, the good and the bad. And I don't always watch the score as the be all end all, particularly when rebuilding a program.

Effort and competitveness is important in this. Bradley, just a few years ago, would not have even scored, and Baylor would have named their score. Last night Bradley played tough and gave Baylor plenty to think about.

I bet you Baylor walked out of that stadium saying this was a good test for us. Baylor is as solid of a team as I remember them having and will likely compete for another championship this year. Bradley gave them the short field twice and they did what good teams do; score. Take those two away and it's a 31 - 28 game for Baylor. And more indicative of how this game was played.

Now I know some will say I can't take those scores out and it is true from the standpoint of our win/loss record. But, I am taking an objective look at where this team is today in relation to where we want to be. And it's lot closer than a few years ago.

Mental mistakes was Bradley's downfall and that is why Coach Floyd scheduled this opponent: to prepare the Bears for future competition. Beating some team down on their luck would have done nothing but pad stats. This game and like games will make our Bears better in the long run.

Physically, the Bears for the first time in a long time have the personnel to compete, in all phases. Yes there are some places to shore up a bit more, mostly weight room and conditioning, but they are getting there.

Did I want the win? Durn tootin' I did. But we played hard, gave a good accounting our ourselves, and learned a few things. But it's not the end of the world and the season is just starting. Lots of football to be played, yet. Let's see where this ride goes. :popcorneater:

Congrats and Good Luck to Baylor. We'll see you next year and see if we can do a little better.

Must of been a very good game between two very good teams. But if you are talking about the two short field scores that Baylor had to make that would have made it 31-28...a much better score. Then you would have to take away Bradley's score with seconds left against Baylors bench. That would have made it 31-21. Regardless, Baylor and Bradley are probably the area's 2 best teams. Hopefully Red Bank can put it together also. Good luck to both squads. I fully expect Baylor to make alot of noise this year. To go to Cleveland and beat a good Bears team on the road shows alot.

  10. Baylor must have been impressive again this week. Close to 100 points in two weeks....alot of firepower. Since Red Bank did not play last week I went to the Soddy/Baylor game. Was impressed with what I saw. Go Red Bank!

  11. I said in another thread Bradley would get out coached and not go undefeated, well

if a team has a problem chasing you then you run to the outside, if your behind by 14 don't try a field goal when your outside the 10, or the other team might just might block said kick and go up by 21, run it throw it to the end zone something but don't let tthem have it with a short field. oh well. they have the rest of the year to learn.

Does anyone know if this game is on the radio?

  12. Red Bank was off tonight....so I went to Baylor for this game. Baylor looks like the real deal. What a performance on offense and defense. Very impressive. Good crowd...alot of McCallie folks a this game. Already scouting I suppose? Congrats to the Red Raiders.
