  1. If most of your seniors are starters this year and played a lot of time last year as juniors, then I could definitely see CSAS being the pick for the region. None of Temple's seniors are leaders, nor or they dominant players. We have a very strong junior class, though. We had about eight seniors last year, with three of them being exceptional players, but our two Sophomores were exceptional players, also. I would have to guess that this year's team is as good as the team two years ago, when Seth, Josh, and Dee were juniors and that next year, they will be every bit as good as last year's team, if not better.
  2. So, are you saying that because you got blistered by CSAS, they must be the best in the region? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> They ought to be way ahead of the rest of us single A teams because, as far as I know, they are the only team that has not had any football players. The rest of us went from the football field to the basketball court. If CSAS does not look like the best team on the court right now, a week after football is over, then something is seriously wrong over there on E. 3RD St. Just wait until you actually play us DBSfan. Then we will see what comes out of your mouth, the same mouth that was saying that DBS should have killed us last Friday. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. Silverdale's coach has been to the show enough times. He will have his horses ready. But does he have enough of them?
  4. Yeah, and they were such major contributers, I do not know who they were. They were not varsity basketball players. Temple will have several unproven players step up. Believe it or not, Jeremy Sexton and Brandon Andrews are much better than anyone realizes. Go ahead and prepare yourselves to see Jeremy down on the court in Murfreesboro getting a "Mr. Basketball" finalist award in March 2008. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why anyone would continue to pick Grace to be that good this year. They were horrible last year, they did not lose anyone significant from last year and they have not gained anyone significant for this year. Temple is the only team out of the three that is doing any rebuilding/reloading. CSAS returns almost everyone from last year's team, and you should expect them to come out of the gates this season at full speed. There is no way Grace is going to be better than CSAS. It is a physical impossibility.
  5. Temple's JV only lost three games last year. One to CSAS and two to Grace, and that was only after they moved Brandon Andrews up because Erik Larson quit the team. It left a definite hole on the JV team.
  6. That is an interesting perspective. I had not really thought about it that way. You may be right. I think you guys are going to do better than "ok." How many seniors do you have this year?
  7. I think it is a far stretch to put CSAS in third or fourth. "Winning1" may know something we do not know but at this point I will have to side differently. In my opinion (For what it is worth), I see CSAS and Temple battling it out for the region championship and Grace settling for third. Silverdale could realistically be fourth. There is no way I would put CSAS any lower than second. There are too many good basketball players with talent on that team for them to not be one fo the top two teams in the region. Last year, Temple had to bow out of at least one tournament because our top three basketball players were playing football, actually, I think there were only about four basketball players who were not playing football last year. It could be a similar situation with Silverdale. We got a lot of grief last year when we bowed out.
  8. Especially with all of "Legend's" talk about bending over and wrestling, I would be very careful around him /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. From what I remember reading the scores in the Saturday paper after that Tyner game, South Pittsburg could have blown that one open also. Is that correct?
  10. Do you really think Temple had the easier side of the bracket? That surprises me. Huboldt was tough, and you are right, they made a bad decision at the end but, honestly, they made enough bad decisions earlier that cost them the game. None of us Temple fans wanted it to go into overtime. East Lit. was definitely not tough, but Humboldt was. You guys did not have to fight anyone of Humbodt's caliber, be honest now. (My point is really that you guys would not have made it to the championship game if we swapped brackets. We would still have been in the championship game but it would have been against Humboldt rather than CSAS). I definitely agree with your last statement. Last year was last year and you guys have almost all your players returning from last year, right? That was a ton of good experience last year for a you guys. You all are a lot of fun to watch. I am looking forward to the match ups this season.
  11. taydizzle, alexthegr8, aqua777 You guys made some excellent comments. Thanks for the information and the different perspective on the whole situation. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Where there is smoke there is fire? Honestly, two years ago, I could not understand why little Dragoo saw as much playing time as he did. When I saw him play Temple twice, he was terrible in those games. He looked like he had no business on the courst with the rest of the players and he played a lot in both those games. A number of Temple fans made the same comments and in no way were they trying to put down Dragoo or his son, just observing what was painfully obvious, to us at least. Let me make sure you understand first of all that I, personally, am not a "dragoohater." I do not have a beef with him or CSAS, on the contrary. There is no question in my mind about his knowledge of the game and his skills. The thing that I have noticed in the past that raises questions is his decision making. Last year those "Third Street Boys" finished the season well but from where I was standing they could have started the season much better than they did. After having played Temple twice in the regular season, and once in the region championship game, I would have thought he would at least have had a better answer in the state title game to at least keep the game close. Maybe those "Third Street Boys" were not as good as I thought they were last year and he coached the best he could with what he had just to do as well as they did. Maybe there was a miracle going on there with the coaching that we just did not see. Anyway, I was very impressed with the athleticism and heart of those CSAS boys last year and I am looking forward to seeing them play many times this season.
  13. Did I read somewhere that you guys have soccer?
  14. You are right about the cohesiveness. This year's group has that same cohesiveness. Jeremy, James, Brandon, Ben, and a couple of the others have played a lot of ball together the last couple of years. I do not see Grace being a real threat at a region title as long as Carter is part of the team (Oh, that's right, Carter is not part of the team). CSAS will be the most serious contender, along with Temple, for a shot at a region title. You guys have some seriously good basketball players and that is a shame because, in my opinion, I am not sure that Dragoo is as good a coach as many of you think. But... he is probably better than what Temple has this year. Markham has never head coached high school basketball (that I know of) and has never coached a winning team in any sport. That is not intended as a slam, just honest observation. The difference will be in the coaching.
  15. I watched most of the single A games last year in Murfreesboro and one caution I would extend to CSAS as a friendly observation, CSAS played the easy side of the bracket last season, so I would not let a runner up trophy get me all excited at my chances of winning state. CSAS would have gotten beaten down terribly in the second round on Temple's side of the bracket. You do have some good kids coming back this season and they will be exciting to watch (except when they play Temple, of course /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ).
  16. Let's see. Who is going to win region this year. Grace or CSAS? Hmmm..... The only team that can win region this year is Temple or the team that can beat Temple.
  17. Chill, dude. My comment came about only because you went on about your best player not being in the game and, judging from your comments, you feel that you would have killed us if he had been in the game, so I was just asking an honest question. "Did it really stink to have to lose to us?" I mean, especially after you killed us at the jamboree, I guess some of your players thought all they would have to do would be to throw their helmets on the field. It is obvious from your comments that you really do not know what class and dignity really are. If you really know anything at all then you would be in full agreement with my statement that it does take class and dignity to both, win and lose. Please, if you really know anything intelligent at all, inform me and everyone else here on Coacht, how we cheated so well as to have produced a 10-0 team last year and how, after a thorough investigation by the TSSAA, we were found, in relation to last year's team, to only being guilty of allowing an out of state player to have practiced the previous Spring, and allowing an eigth grade coach's son take a few snaps during the final minutes of a few games that were already out of hand. Yes, we broke a few rules, and every one of us at Temple regret that it happened, and you and others rubbing our nose in it does not make us regret it more than we already do. So, rub away if that is what it takes to make you feel better. We are happy to oblige you. It is not a stigma that we will carry with us for a long time, actually, we are past it and have moved on. You and others like you are the ones who will be carrying it around for a long time. Enjoy it, as much as you can. It is a shame that you guys did not get to line up against our last year's team. It would have been an experience you would have treasured for a long time, to have seen your guys play some real smash mouth football, and to have seen your best players hobble off the field. The best part of the experience for you would have been that you would have had a whole lot less to talk about in regards to cheating when you realize that we went 10-0 last year because of simple old fashioned hard work. A lot of our studs last year had been playing the previous four years on both sides of the ball together and paying their dues and taking their licks. Be careful about throwing around that word "cheaters" too liberally. Judging from the lack of composure shown by your players, coaches, and a number of fans, you guys are used to losing and your coaches may resort to more behind the scenes mayhem then you even know about and you may get a really good picture soon of what cheating really does look like and you will not be carelessly using it to refer to other teams. You know its that whole desperate times, desperate measures thing.
  18. John Allen is an excellent coach and I believe that he will have them as prepared as much as it is dependent upon him to do so. With it being Silverdale's first show, coming in as a fourth place region three team, facing region four's first place team, I do not see them pulling this one off but they are definitely earning a lot of respect. Good luck Seahawks.
  19. For all you Trousdale County fans who think the Jackets are going to keep this close, keep dreaming. Consider this game a pre-season scrimmage for next year. This is the playoffs and Grider will be coming to the field without the gloves and will not put them back on until the fourth quarter and the clock is running. Sorry. If you jog, then you know that place that you arrive at when the brain releases endorphins to the body and you go from really struggling to keep running to a seemingly effortless stride. The Pirates have reached that stride and it will take more than TC to break it. I do not believe that any team that lives and dies by the run is going to be able to compete with the Pirates. After reading the stats about Grace's defeat this past Friday, I do not know if a team who lives and dies by the pass can compete with them. I might as well go out on a limb and just say it, "I do not think there is a single A team in the state that can beat the Pirates." (It really is not that much of a limb).
  20. That is a good point, actually. South Pittsburg's starters are not very well conditioned to have to play four quarters. They normally watch the JV game that goes on during the second half. It will be interesting.
  21. I am pulling for all the region three teams. Congratulations!!!
  22. DBCSFan, winning and losing both require dignity and class. Last year's team was unique and special. The 10-0 record last year came about by more than just Seth Skogen, though he contributed greatly. We had good coaches. We had the best QB in Chattanooga in our class. We had great running backs. We had a great full-back. We had a great line. We had a ton of experience and talent. Skogen, all the Skogen's, meant/mean a lot to Temple. I am sure your kid meant a lot to David Brainerd but I can assure you that he is not even in the same category as Seth Skogen. Maybe he would have made a difference yesterday, maybe not. We will never know. You guys finished 1-9 the last two years and finished 4-6 this year. Congratulations on the improved record. By the way, did it really stink having to lose to Temple yesterday?
  23. I saw them play Temple last year and from what I understand they are not quite as good this year as they were last year. South Pittsburg is distinctly better this year over last year.
  24. I was just talking about Trousdale County and South Pittsburg. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. Having seen both teams play and thinking about how much stronger or weaker they are this year over last, I would have to give South Pittsburg the edge in this one by at least two, maybe three touch downs. Trousdale is a good and well respected team and program but I question whether they have the speed and ability to contain those swashbucklers?
