  1. Any RB would rather have a great OL besides a running QB. There's no doubt that Hurds stats would be way better if he was running behind UGAs, or LSUs OL.

No doubt. But ucm says he is the 4th or 5th best back in the SEC. I disagree. I think he is as good as any in the SEC. He just has very young, weaker line to run behind not mention a pretty good running qbs for a teammate.
  2. I agree. 365 yards this past week vs Cumberland Co is great, but Hurd was putting those numbers up as a junior in 5a and against some 6a schools and winning championships. And he was just as fast or faster, 2 inches taller and 40 pounds heavier. Now Hurd is a good back in the sec, but probably the 4-5th best in the conference. Power 5 D-1 running backs in these parts would probably avg 300 plus a game and 20 yards per carry by their Jr year.

It was Hixon not Cumberland County. Also, he hasn't had a chance to play against many 5a-6a schools. But ask Cookeville which is 6a what they think of him? AND he gained those yards with a young inexperienced line. So, given the same opportunities in a big program with a more mature experienced line, I think he puts up pretty good numbers. I'm not comparing him to a Hurd or other SEC backs/recruits but I do think he is still a very good player given the chance to play on those types of teams. And if Hurd had the o-line like alabama or lsu, he may be better than 4th or 5th best back. Henry nor Fournette have running qbs like Dobbs.
  3. Linder is making a trip this weekend for a very good smaller school this weekend is the word on the street. A school he could flourish at and make an immediate impact. When he gets to any program, they will beef him up to 200+ pounds which his frame will hold just fine. And I don't think he will lose any speed. He is an exceptional talent for this area for sure. And pretty much has willed his way to every yard he has gained this year as LA's line is just young. Not to mention every week this kid has been the target of every defense they have played. I wish him the best.

Also, put this kid on a 5a-6a team in Tennessee and I guarantee he plays..ALOT.

  4. Now, now Big Daddy, don't give our CHS friends too much grief (but I do love the spirit). They have a good ball team this year. Even though they only met in a jamboree game last year I think the CHS faithful would let you know that every once in a while even a blind sow will find an acorn. I thought little ole LA did very well against one of the bigger schools and football programs in the state last year, starters against starters. And the Upperman folks will probably all agree that jamboree games only give you an idea when you look at starters versus starters, thinking about this year. Now my hat goes off to CAK last week as they thumped LA and held us scoreless until they called off the dogs. I expect a good game atmosphere in Cookeville and I just pray both teams stay healthy and improve going forward.

Yeah I probably should apologize as know one or two them folks, but I can't bring myself to it. :)

As for the game and this year vs CHS, LA probably has little chance of winning and my reasoning is that coaching is weaker, o and d lines are not near as good, and less skill players than CHS's last opponent. The game should probably be cancelled and let both squads move on to week 3 opponents. Just one poster's most honest, humble opinion..

    GO HOG-EYE!

  5. If Cookeville wins, well they are suppose to. They are 6A. They have all these kids to pick from. If LA wins, it's an upset. No way a 4a team should win.. Either way I'm a HOG-EYE fan and hoping for the upset!! Nobody likes them snobs from Cookeville anyway... :)

  6. I follow both programs closely and I disagree with you on who would win this year, we can gauge more after the Cookeville game. And yes iput Herron on par with Lamb. Hard to compare the two with LA being 4a and 250 more students than 3a Upperman. Over the years, LA has had a much better program. UH is just recently put football as a priority.

No doubt you follow these programs. Obviously since you own a computer and have an account on coacht, you have a better insight to the ins of the teams. However, I know the programs decently, I'm sorry, but Baxter wins once every 15-20 years and that's just the truth. Since they won 2 years ago, they're not due this year had they played. Not only the players, but the coaching would he the difference.

As for Friday, compare scores all you want. But the fact is that neither last week's score nor this week's score is any indication of the outcome of LA vs. UHS.

    GO HOG-EYE!

  7. CHS has as many as 4 kids getting looked at by D-1 programs, 26 seniors, 32 juniors. Even CAK doesn't match those numbers or talent top to bottom.

Cookeville can dress the whole school on the sidelines if they want but that don't make them better. They can only put 11 on the field. I assure CAK has boys on the sideline that may just start for CHS.

No way of knowing, but I'd put my money on CAK.. they have a D1 or 2 themselves.

  8. Coaching staff...pretty equal. Best two skill postions players, LA, but Upperman has more depth at skill positions so that is euqal. The edge goes to Upperman because of the better OL/DL and better FG kicker. I would say in a game 28-21, 28-14 UH. Linder,Hollars, Hayes are god but not much exp around them and not nearly the depth of UHS.

Equal coaching staffs? Again, where do you get this? The only time Baxter ever had the "best" team vs. LA when coaching would have made a difference was a couple years ago. LA had Hollars and Linder out and the only thing that saved Baxter that Friday night was the athletes, not the coaching..

As for 2015.. it's kinda moot but just for kicks and giggles LA would roll!

  9. I think 42-14.....They only scored 7 verse a good 3a CAK team that's not top to bottom talented as CHS nor has the depth of CHS. LA has major OL and DL problems and Vic should have another big night. I don't see LA stopping him much.

CAK doesn't have the talent or depth that CHS has? Where are you getting your information? Because Cookeville is 6a?

  10. As a team, Pickett played the game of their lives. Truth is, Pickett hit 10 threes in the game and some were at crucial points in the game. Middleton continuously kept coming back and going toe to toe. Like I said though, Pickett is very impressive to be so young. I could honestly see them taking state for the next two years.

statistically speaking Middleton played pretty dog gone good too. Especially from the line. Congrats to them.
