  1. Just thought I'd share this bit of info. Looks like Hansen may be ready to play Friday night at Johnnie's house. I am very excited about this game. It is sure to be quite a battle, indeed. Not sure I want to make a prediction, though...
  2. There was a suited mascot last year. Not sure if he suited up for the Gibson Co. game last year, though. 'Twas kinda hot. There isn't, however, a suited DAWG for Milan as of right now. Not sure if last year's DAWG just quit or was unable to do it this year, or what. Hopefully someone will take the job soon. The sideline seems sorta empty...
  3. Sorry, I've had computer troubles as of late and am just now able to get on. Anyway, we're done with this subject. Milan beat Gibson County handily, and I hope the DAWGS can keep on keepin' on. So, without further ado...
  4. I never said that I could call plays better than Jackson or Morris. I do think, however, that the coaching staff (which Morris is in charge of) has made too many mistakes as of late to ignore. In the Peabody game, it's homecoming, you're playing a region rival, and you need a TD to win. So, we go backwards to go forward? Plus, the most athletic player on the field was hit at the line once the ball was in his hands. The Tide jumped on him like a trampoline. This is where being able to recognise defence, a simple coaching attribute, comes into play. After the Humboldt game, I was told, by a player, that Lydale was coached to throw the ball away when in trouble. Granted, he may not have been told to throw it away in that particular instance, but he should've at least been taught when to not do so. (I should've made that clearer. My apologies.) In the Goodpasture game, the DAWGS did play their hardest...until they got behind. Then they rolled over and died. They were not motivated, plain and simple. If they were, they would've beat the pants off them. In last week's game, you are correct in stating that I was not there. I said that. I even said that I based my opinions about last week's game upon what others have told me and what little I heard on the radio. You do, however, bring up another excellent example of Morris's special brand of "genius" coaching, if that's what you want to call it. Letting their offence score six just to maybe get the chance to win with a TD and 2-point conversion later? Good grief. This sort of strategy only works in two sports: basketball and the ping pong-like sport of Arena Football. Otherwise, this is dumb. Plus, why depend upon your offence when you are w/o your starting QB? Why not instead get the ball back the old fashioned way: taking it back?! Defence wins championships. About your last point, you are completely right. This isn't good enough. Nothing short of a championship is good enough. There is no reason why Milan can't at least get to Murfreesboro, much less win the whole thing, if they are fielding a Top 5 team.
  5. He's always in contention because he always has an amazing group of talented players at nearly every position. Yes, he's won two state titles, but that was nearly a decade ago. This is where the phrase "What have you done for me lately?" comes into play. You said it yourself: in the last four years, the DAWGS have been to the semifinals three times and the quarterfinals once. Not ONE appearance in the Clinc/BlueCross Bowl. Considering the amazing talent that has graced the grass of Johnnie Hale Stadium, this is unacceptable.
  6. I refuse to even respond to the first and last parts of your "paragraph," seeing as the points argued in them made as much sense as a screen door on a submarine. (I've edited the quoted post to help those that aren't fluent in moron.) Ok, so you've played for Morris. Yay. When did you play for him? When we won championships in 1998 and 1999? Good for you. Those were some GREAT teams. Any monkey with half of a cerebral cortex could win a state championship with the wow-mazing players that were on that squad. Frankly, nearly any coach can get into the playoffs year after year when given the region and players that Morris has had over the course of his tenure. HOWEVER, Morris has just done too many things to cost the DAWGS key games over the past five years or so: - 2004 Homecoming game v. Peabody. DAWGS are down six or seven points with about ten seconds left, but they're driving. It's 4th down on the Tide 12-yard line or so. Play called? SCREEN PASS. Just stupid. - 2004 @ Humboldt. Milan's down and driving, yet again. What happens? Lydale throws the ball away on 4th down. Sad thing is, word on the street was that Morris TOLD HIM to do so. Sweet fancy Moses... - 2006 @ Crockett. Ugh. 'Nuff said. - Previous Huntingdon games, especially in the postseason. Jesus could come coach the DAWGS, but if he had a losing record against the 'Stangs, including playoff games, He'd be gone. Sorry. It's the truth. - 2006 Postseason v. Goodpasture. Team just looked lackadaisical. Painful to watch. So much for preparation, eh? - Last week @ Huntingdon. Starting QB gets injured. Morris makes some questionable personnel calls. Milan gets down one point and effectively gives up. I was unable to go to this game, but everyone I've talked to about it pretty much said they the DAWGS rolled over and died. So much for motivation, eh? I'm sure there are other games that I'm forgetting at the moment, but these are good enough to prove my point.
  7. First, please direct me to any post where I stated that the DAWGS would miss the playoffs. I seriously doubt that will happen. Granted, I'm no longer certain they'll win the region, but they will definitely see the post season in person. However, I do believe that Morris's status as coach needs to be reviewed, if not completely changed. He's a "decent" coach, but anyone can be decent if given the plethora of talented players that M-town has seen during his tenure. It's just the little nuances (read: failures, disappointments, et cetera...) during his time that have me upset. Every year, it seems like there are little snafus' in the play calling, personnel placement, and game time motivation areas that make me doubt his competence. He's like the Dusty Baker of HS football. Before and after the game, he could be the best coach ever, but he always seems to slip up when it matters most: GAME TIME. Morris not only should've been able to call the plays and make the correct position maneuvers to overcome the loss of Coleman and the others, but he also should've been able to spark the DAWGS so that they could overcome a ONE POINT DEFICIT versus a sub-par Huntingdon team. Last thing: I've had the QB situation "explained" to me. As I understand it, Bledsoe won't be starting after all. He will instead run a series or two but won't be in permanently as I first thought. (Truth be told, he hasn't even taken any snaps in practice.) Milan's season is not over. Morris & Co. will be able to get the DAWGS back on track with a win versus the Pioneers.
  8. I emboldened the key parts of your argument for you. 'Twas Martin Westview that experimented and lost by only three points. Granted, Westview is a good team, but they aren't Milan. (Sounds cocky, I know, but that's the only way I can explain it w/o taking away from the Chargers.) I am confident that Morris is capable of lighting a fire under their tails like he did last year after the Crockett debacle and winning this game by at least two TD's, experimenting in the process.
  9. This is true. Bledsoe's got a heckuva arm (not sure how accurate) and surely can't be any (for lack of a better word) dumber than Mr. Wells. I just don't see why they would put in a TB under center when he's never played a down of QB in his life (as far as I've heard). There really is no reason why Postoak shouldn't start at QB, but I guess if you're gonna experiment with the offence, might as well do it v. GC.
  10. Yeah...I heard something today that just dumbfounded me. I heard that Brian Bledsoe is going to start for Milan on Friday night...at QB. OMGWTFBBQ? Anybody else hear this, or do I just get my football news from a lower class of losers?
  11. QUOTE(JacksonSun.com)Coleman finished 1-for-6 passing for 13 yards and one interception.
  12. Postoak will do a fine job of QB-ing after a full week of practice under center. Also, for some odd reason, the DAWGS have a habit of shellacking GC after a bad loss the previous week. (See the throw fest that followed the Crockett Co. debacle last year.) Milan shall beat the Pioneers like a borrowed mule.
  13. Yeah, after Mr. Wells figured out how to hand it to the right person instead "scrambling" and then throwing it either away (read: "rainbowing" it) or to a man with a different coloured top on, things were fine! However, I have no clue how anybody can look at the traveshamockery that was last year's game v. Crockett Co. and then say that Mr. Wells was completely capable of passing a football IQ and awareness test with flying colours. Frankly, I feel that Mr. Postoak would've done a better job under center after he became healthy last year. Point is, even though Mr. Coleman will be missed for however long he is gone, I think Mr. Postoak will be a worthy replacement, assuming he is given the chance that he deserves.
  14. No, it's not just losing one game. It's losing several games of great importance over the course of a few seasons because of, for lack of a better word, retarded play calling and idiotic personnel placement.
  15. Oh, good! I'm not the only person on here that thinks that Morris is lacking the proper amount of balls!
  16. WRONG! Luke FREAKING Postoak can throw. Problem is, he isn't given the chance. (And, yes, I think he should've started half of the games last year.)
  17. Agreed wholeheartedly, although I might have suggested a ball-ification instead of a spinal surgery.
  18. Eh, I was unable to go to the game, but I can say this much: Milan will be fine. However, this is assuming that Jeff Morris gets his head out of whatever orifice that it is lodged in and starts Luke FREAKING Postoak at QB instead of Zach Ryan. (Oh, Coleman's out. Hurt his shoulder. Dang.)
  19. Ok, my turn to guesstimate the final score. Milan 24 Huntingdon 6
  20. Yeah, it's sad... Speaking of sad, how 'bout them Grizzlies? lol
  21. M - Mediocre? Maybe. I - Improving? Definitely. L - Lannom, Gary. Our freshman coach. A - Adkisson, Tim. Future Bulldog stand-out. N - Never give up, never surrender!
