  1. East,West and Jeff co. should all compete. I am not sure if any of those 3 should run away with it. I know zero about Seymour,sd and Sevier co. I expect Cocke co. to be the usual and cherokee to be a little better.
  2. MoEast and volunteer scrimmage on the turf at BT on Fri. 5/15.
  3. Spring Practice April 27,28,30 May 4,5,7,11,12,13,14 Scrimmages with Sullivan East & Volunteer. Dates, time and location for scrimmages will be posted when I get them.
  4. That is right. I forgot about that and he will be a wild man on D.....................just watch the personal fouls!!!!!!
  5. The sky is falling!!!!!!! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> We will be OK on the D side of the ball. We did lose some guys but we have depth and will be just fine. Wait and see. Spring practice is slated for May but not sure of the date yet. DE Up for grabs DT Up for grabs DT Christian* DE Fields* SLB Bell MLB Helton* WLB Up for grabs CB Howell* SS Broyles* FS Clark* CB Blanton* * Started games as either a so. or jr. or both. The positions that are up for grabs have several players that can get the job done but we will have to see who wins the spot.
  6. My guess is the same scheme but probably more agressive meaning more man and more blitzing.
  7. The Dline actually played well last year or at least above expectations. The team is as strong or stronger than last year. There is a lot of talent there. They lost some key guys but the staff does a good job of getting playing time for the backups and having them game ready. I think East will be down just a bit overall on D but should be a very dangerous team when they have the ball. To answer your question, YES, they will be strong.
  8. That will be the question. Goose will be at one tackle for sure and the other tackle and ends will be up for grabs. There is talent there but I could not begin to speculate on who may move over from offense or who may win the jobs. I think we may see jeff fields compete for an end spot and haun at a tackle spot but who knows. The picture will be a little more clear after spring practice.
  9. I know that in the weight romm, Penalba,Lynch and my kid have all had huge bumps in their max outs. I know Helton and Penalba will be in the 1000 lb. club. I have not seen any of the guys during the offseason so I really do not know about size. We have a few new faces. Joe Ridley lived here and played youth ball, moved to Oklahoma(I think) and is back. He is around 6'6 290. We also picked up a kid (Steele?) from Jeff co. He played pretty good against East last year. Other than that, I don't know alot.
  10. I will but I am not sure who I am looking up. Give me some initials or something to ring a bell.
  11. Hatcher nor the fan base at east think this will be a cakewalk and no one has said that. Great effort in trying to stir the pot. We also play road games at Cleveland and Anderson Co.. Would you say that we schedule cupcakes or that we schedule good teams to make us better? He also has scrimmaged Bearden the last 2 preseasons and tried hard to line up Maryville as well. Hatcher and cupcake do not belong in the same sentence. He schedules a tough non-con every year if possible.
  12. Not to my knowledge. i have heard that rumor but I think it is just a rumor. His dad lived in florida for a while but I think he is back here now.
  13. I know they are conditioning hard because I have 2 sons that come home exhausted every day from it. I don't think the transfer was encouraged by anyone at West at all. I know that I was at a game sitting with the players dad and he was mad the whole game and went down to the fence at half time. I do not condone that. Let the coach coach. I may speak my mind here about things from time to time and even have had a few conversations with Hatcher about team issues(never about my kids) but to do something like that in a game is way out of line in my opinion. I have always told my boys that playing time is earned not handed out. I am excited to see this year approaching. I think we stand a good chance to be competitive enough to win the region we are in. We have a wealth of talent returning for 09'.
  14. No matter what else is said, the issue was carries!!!! I think he had more than enough of a chance to seal the job up but Dee Dee just stood out. I don't think we will miss a backup who did not want to be a cane. I have known him for ages and he is a good kid but I think he may have let a parent decide this for him and it will not really benefit him to move over to west. Love him to death and hate to see him not graduate with the guys he has played with since pee wee but oh well.
  15. Good luck to Billy and his replacement Mr. Cassell.
  16. We will not lose to GHS either!!!!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  17. Thanks for that info. I heard about Kelly and I think he made a mistake. He was second on the team in carries. I think he had more than an opportunity to handle the ball and prove what he could do. As the season went on, Dee Dee Johnson just began to stand out more and took advantage of his chances.
  18. Garretson will have to get stronger to be a factor and get much PT. Ricker will struggle with the speed of the game at this level early in spring practice but should adjust well. I have seen stud after stud at the freshman level get a rude awakening when they take the field in the spring. The game moves much faster and the players are much stronger than what they have seen. Most adjust and realize that the step up is in the weight room. Howell,Johnson,Clark,Penalba,Helton and Christian as well as many others will all be great leaders for this team this year. They all work very hard and have as much of a "team" rather than "me" attitude than any group of seniors could have. There are a few holes for this team to fill but not many. I think we could see this team emerge as a top contender in 5A if we play to potential and stay healthy. Spring practice will be in May but I do not have a date yet.
  19. West-Fulton first game followed by East and AE. That is what I have heard.
  20. No. I was just saying "IF". I will post details the minute I hear them.
  21. The good news is we have guys that only play one way. Still, cramping will be an issue.
  22. Congrats to the Canes that made the All Region 2 team.
