  1. First off, why does the Region 1-3A people insists on claiming they have a shot? What all does a team have to do or how bad does a team have to lose to finally come to the reality that it just is not going to happen. I mean, just last week, Fulton beat Carter 48-3. Again, 48-3. Rogan had like 6 times more yardage than the Hornets whole team combined (Carter had less than 30 total yards, Dennis had over 200 rushing yards). In two years, Fulton has beat Carter(back to back Region 1 CHAMPS) a combined 90-3. So of course I believe Region 2 will run the table, outside of Carter possibly beating Kingston. Enough said about that. About running riot's predictions, AE, after they beat Seymour, will play Catholic in the 2nd round, after the Irish thump Gibbs, at Catholic. Fulton will play the winner of the Carter/Kingston game, so those predictions can't happen. If...AE upsets Catholic in round 2, then a Fulton/AE rematch could happen in the 3rd round at Fulton.
  2. Well, the playoffs are here already and looks as though 3A could be very interesting. With AE's win last night over Kingston, it looks as though Catholic will have to play the Roadrunners in the 2nd round (assuming AE beats the 2nd place team in 1-3A, which they should). Fulton gets Claiborne at home( I think; could be Rutledge), should be a convincing win either way for the Falcons. Then Fulton gets the winner of the Carter/Kingston game, but either way, it looks as though the Falcons will get an easier road to the 3rd round than Catholic. Maybe winning 2-3A regular season championship does not put you in the best scenario in the playoffs. So...Fulton losing that 1st game to the Irish could've been a good thing. Anyways, it's going to be a fun ride.
  3. Yeah, 54-0 is correct. Just too much Dennis Rogan for Livingston. 212 yards on only 16 carries.
  4. Sorry, meant the 06' class in my earlier post, my mistake.
  5. Yeah, I played last year. That's why I wouldn't show any disrespect for the 05' class. That class did a lot for Fulton and took the Falcons to three state title games. That loss last year hurt me tremendously because I truly felt we would still win it, despite the rough patch early on, and the seniors deserved to go out on top and not be snuffed because of a few unfortunate breaks in that Catholic game. Again, not taking anything away from Livingston and the run they made. They had some good athletes on that team and that quarterback was amazing...guess that's why he's at Harvard now.
  6. Sorry to cause such a rutkus. That was not my intention. I'm not taking anything away from LA last year. They did what they had to do in the playoffs and that's what counts. I know they were a good football team because you can't win it all, regardless of your win/loss record, and not be a solid football team. We lost our first three games last year and still made a good run at it, only to fall short. As for me not showing the 05' seniors class by saying they had the best team, but had it taken away on a miraculous catch....I don't see it. I played LA myself last year and have a couple of State rings at the house myself. I know a little bit about what I'm talking about.
  7. Whoa, Whoa, Whoa...I was trying to be nice but so much for that. I know LA stinks and is one of the worst teams in 3A this year, if not the worst (Scott beat em). I just didn't want to offend anyone. As for last year, just trying to say that the best team didn't necessarily win it. How can you say that wasn't the case? Fulton beat Livingston 18-6 but in a very ugly game. Fulton beat Catholic 38-9 the first time around (that's domination) but couldn't overcome some key mistakes the second time around, not to mention Smith made an incredible catch that, in my mind cost Fulton their 3rd title in as many years. IF he doesn't make that catch, the Falcons go on to beat LA at home, Notre Dame and D. Lipscomb were not nearly as good as I had thought, and well....result is long off-season. As the saying goes though, if If's and But's were Candy and Nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. As for this week, Fulton could send the JV squad and get it done.
  8. I realize that to ask who'll win this game is probably a stupid question but what do ya'll think? It is a region game and Fulton has to travel roughly 2 hours behind emeny lines but it just seems as though LA has fallen off dramatically this season. I still feel last year's state title was Fulton's to lose but that's why you play the games.
  9. Carter did obviously play a better 1st half than 2nd half defensively, but Fulton's D was too much all night for the Hornets. Going on a statistic standpoint though, Fulton pretty much dominated the 1st half as well with like 150 total yards to like 25 for Carter. Fulton also had 9 first downs to 1 for Carter. The scoreboard just lit up in the 2nd half though.
  10. Well, Well, Well. When will Carter learn? You can beat up on the little ole' measly Region 1-3A teams but do not come up on "The Hill" on Bob Black Field where the scoreboard reads "2003-2004 AAA State Football Champions" and run your mouth. Man, that was the mouthiest group of fans, players (several cheap shots last night), and coaches I've seen in a long time. Putting "7-2" in the F in the endzone and the "Bank" beside the field, players running their mouth before the game. I mean, I was almost embarassed for them towards the end of the game when Fulton had their 3rd and 4th stringers in, still scoring. You would have thought they would have learned their lesson last year when the Falcons came into Carter's house at 5-3 and absolutely shredded the undefeated Hornets. But, this is exactly why I wanted Carter to be undefeated again this year. Fulton-48 Carter-3
  11. People are quick to pounce on the line for Fulton over the Catholic game. Did Catholic win the overall war of the trenches? Yeah. Did Fulton just flat out get whipped? Not exactly. If I'm not mistaken, the Falcons D front was stuffing the run most of the game and the O-line, although not its best performance by any means, played well at times. Stinson had plenty of time to throw the peel throughout the game, Rogan still had over 100 yards rushing. Fulton's line is fine. The Catholic game was decided through the air with no answer for Smith's receiving ability.
  12. Not through quite yet......It also upsets me to hear that Fulton is a "One man team". Also false. Sure, Rogan is a stud and carries Fulton, no doubt, but he needs a good O-line to run doesn't he?....they also have JaMichael Mathis, who is a very talented playmaker, as Carter will find out. Vic Smith, a talented wideout, and several playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, Gildner, Hamilton, Higgins, Cobb, Stokes. Fulton is a really good TEAM, they just happen to have one special player.
  13. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the fact that Alcoa has won the last Two 2A State Championships and will easily win the third one this year, so they don't have too bad of a "2A" program do they? Look for the Falcons to do the same thing they did to Carter last year, on their home field, undefeated, win going away. What was it 36-0? or something like that....
  14. dana112369, are you ok? Fulton only beat a 2A team by 3 points? You are aware of the fact that the "2A" school the Falcons beat by "only 3 points" is flippin' Alcoa aren't you? Are you serious? Fulton went to Alcoa, possibly the most talented team in the state of Tennessee, with numerous D-1 prospects, a team that beat powerhouse McCallie, and won by "just 3 points". That was probably the most stupid comment I've heard on this board, or any other board, in a long time. I've seen Carter play and Alcoa would have their starters out by halftime if the Hornets played them, especially at Alcoa.
  15. We played both Boyd and Tyner. The Rams talent-level was high and they were a very tough football team. On the other hand, we pretty much had our way with the Bucs, with the starters only playing in the first half. Tyner by 3 TD's or more
  16. Dennis Freeney playing may or may not have changed the outcome of that game, but it's obvious the Falcons are a better team with him than without him, bottom line. He's one of Fulton's top playmakers and hardest hitting DB. I can promise you with D Freeney in, Harrison gets a hat put on him and doesn't just walk into the end zone untouched on those seam routes. He's a difference maker and Fulton needs him if they wish to make a run.
  17. Look for the Falcons to come out on Senior night clicking on all cylinders after the Catholic game. This group of seniors has 2 State Championships under their belt and realize after last night that their quest for a third championship could easily be snuffed out if they don't execute. This is the time of year when they need to start shining and I have all the confidence that they will. Fulton by 14+
  18. We had a tough night last night, but I still feel this team will still compete for the 3A Championship. We played as bad as we have all year, clearly, had a few controversial calls not go our way, and still only lost by 13. I realize many Catholic faithful feel that Fulton fans shouldn't "whine" about the fumble call, but that play could have very well decided that ballgame. The Vic Smith catch could have been incomplete, but looking at the replay, was a call that could've went either way and in the heat of the game, is a very difficult call to make. Was his arm under the football? Hard to tell. On the other hand, the "incomplete" pass call was possibly the worst call in football history, any level, period. That was a 14 point turnaround and the game went from being 21-16 or 14 to 27-8, huge. Who knows what might have been had that went the Falcons way as it should have. Football is a game of momentum and that was a HUGE swing and as Todd Kelly described it, a "Backbreaker". Vic also had a two point conversion CATCH called incomplete, another bad call. Bottom line is this. Even Packer and Kelly were talking about the "luck of the irish" and how Catholic always has the luck of the 4-leaf clover. The Webb game personal foul call last week was real weak and who knows if Catholic wins that one if that's not called. The Falcons need to step it up a notch the next meeting, hopefully with Freeney potentially playing and more use of their plays not used at all last night. Don't count em out yet.
