  1. Fulton's youngsters get a little taste of what playoff time is all about...I know nothing about Rutledge, but I know they won't have near enough for the Falcons. Athletic QB's as you say Rutledge has usually doesn't present problems for Coatney's defense because Fulton always has so much speed. They're not as big this year, but the team speed of the defense and swarming to the ball is still there. I know to say Fulton will win by "as many as they want" may sound a bit cliche', but in this one, that will be the case. The Falcons will beat the Pioneers by however many they choose to. Just depends on what Coach Black wants to call on offense and if they're going to work on some new things. It's too bad for Rutledge that their last ever football game at the school has to come against the defending State Champions. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> It's great that cold weather and playoff time is here again. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Fulton will win by at least 28 and that's being generous
  2. You never can be too optimestic! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. I don't know anything about Howard, but was vey impressed with how big and athletic Pearl Cohn was last season. I know their QB, Mason, is back, along with the big LB's. I don't know their names, just their numbers (#2 & #3). Just for the record, if the Firebirds make it to the Semis again this year, or if Howard makes it, I'll be rootin' for you guys if Catholic makes it out of our region. We Fulton people can't stand them. I'll go with Pearl-Cohn by 2 scores P.S. Before we left for Pearl-Cohn last year, everybody was talking about how "bad" it was. I, for one, thought the fans and team showed a lot of class and it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. I just think Anderson County is a better football team than Carter. I haven't seen Carter play, but beating Gibbs 14-7, Rutledge 35-32, and losing to AE 41-0 tells me all I need to know. Anderson County has been inconsistent at times this season, losing handily to both Fulton and AE, but have played really well at times, giving Catholic all they wanted. In the playoffs, you just never know, but if AC plays well and doesn't turn the ball over, then they will beat Carter by at least 2 touchdowns. If they turn the ball over like at AE and the Hornets give their best effort, then Carter could get out with the win, but not likely. Mavericks by 12
  5. Yeah, you can't ever look ahead in the playoffs. When AE knocks Seymour off, which I believe they will, then you will have AE at Catholic, Anderson Co.(assuming they beat Carter) at Fulton. Both AE and Anderson County are capable of winning both of those games. If Fulton and Catholic look ahead, then both could be sent packing. IF they were to meet again, I definitely think Fulton is capable of beating the Irish, granted a few breaks go their way. It definitely would not be a blowout the 2nd time around. If Appalachian State can go into the Big House at Michigan and defeat the winningest program in Div. 1A football history, then I definitely think the Falcons could beat Catholic. Never say never. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. When's the last time a Region 7-3A school won the State Championship? I know Dyersburg always has a competitive team and Covington made it to the championship game in 2003, getting blasted by Fulton, but other than that, who else is in that region? Since 2001, Region 2-3A has dominated Class 3A. The original post was asking if Region 7 is CURRENTLY the toughest region in the state, and if not, what was the toughest. That's a no-brainer. Just look at the past 6 years and that will answer your question. Right now, the #1 team in the state is in non-other-than Region 2 and I would put our region's top 4 schools up against the best of other regions. Catholic, Fulton, AE, Anderson County, and Kingston. That's as tough as it gets. When a team goes 5-5 in our region in the regular season and STILL wins State? (LA in 2005) In all 3 years we have won it at Fulton, our toughest test of the entire playoffs was getting out of our region in round 3. For example, in 2004, we won in overtime at AE in the 3rd round 14-12. In the semifinals, we beat Smith County 33-6 in "The Hole". In the championship, we beat Greenbriar and the mighty Roger Herndon 36-7. We were not even contested. The closest game we ever had after round 3 was David Lipscomb last year in Murfreesboro, winning 24-14.
  7. Well, here's what I think: Round 1: Fulton over Rutledge AC over Carter AE over Seymour Catholic over Gibbs(?) Round 2: You'll have AE at Catholic, AC at Fulton. These two games are not gimmes for anybody. Catholic will have to play their game to beat a dangerous AE squad, and Fulton will have to play well to beat the Mavericks. Round 3: Will more than likely be Fulton at Catholic, again. Fulton would have to play its best game and Catholic would have to make some mistakes, but Fulton could possibly beat the Irish, you never know. Again, these are just my predictions. In the playoffs, you never know what could happen and it only takes one bad game for a great team to be heading home. Ask anybody at LA if they expected to win it sitting at 5-5, their players would have more than likely said yes, few others would have. Should be fun!
  8. Yeah, upon further examination, I feel pretty silly over the whole thing. I was initially in the wrong on the 1st page of the thread by making a comment about how good your teams were. For that, I will apologize. I really am being honest in that I didn't mean to offend anybody about the "teeth" comment. There was a previous poster who had made a comment about Fulton's graduation rates and me possibly "working for Rutledges'/Carters' players one day" and that was intended to make a statement to that comment. I guess I can see where it could have come across as a crack at Rutledge's players, so I should not have said it and just let the other guy's post go. I guess I was trying to be funny early on and realize now I should not have said what I did about your respective schools. Fulton really is not as bad as some tend to think and most of those who fail to graduate are "weeded out" by the time the students reach senior year. Everybody graduated on the football team and many are now playing college ball. We always played hard and anybody who plays Fulton knows that the Falcons don't play dirty. They just go out, hit you as hard as they can, and win a lot of football games. Sure, there's jawing, but believe me, that goes on everywhere. I heard many interesting things on the field, many due to frustration because we were winning. I would wish you guys good luck in the playoffs, but it seems as though Rutledge will be going up against non-other-than the Falcons of Fulton High, with a possible match-up with Carter in round 2. I'm sure both teams will play hard and the playoffs are always an exciting time of the year! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Region 2-3A is cleary the most dominant and toughest region in the state. NOBODY can argue that. Region 2 has put a team in the State Championship game the past 6 years, winning the State 5 out of the last 6, with Fulton finishing Runner-Up in 2002 to a loaded Memphis Ridgeway school that belonged in a higher classification. 2001-AE wins State 2002-Fulton Runner-Up 2003-Fulton wins State 2004-Fulton wins State 2005-LA wins State after entering playoffs at 5-5, tell me Region 2 isn't tough? 2006-Fulton wins State Not sure about years past, but this decade has been dominated by Region 2-3A. This year may not be any different with Catholic being the favorite to win it.
  10. It's not a conspiracy, but it is pretty stupid. It makes ZERO sense. Why change the way it was? The 3rd round matchup here always has the schools located within 5-20 minutes of each other playing each other. Like I said, AE, Fulton, and Catholic will be duking it out again. All these schools are very close to one another. Why even mess the format then? All they're really doing is messing with the Semifinal format. If a school like Fulton were to make it to the 4th round again, then they would be stuck with traveling expenses to Nashville for the 2nd straight year, not to mention the fact that it's ALOT tougher to go on the road, in another city, behind enemy lines, and get it done, rather than being at home. Not a fair shake and it's a stupid setup. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  11. Not just Maryville, Fulton has been to Murfreesboro 4 of the past 5 years as well. Runner-Up in 2002, Champs in 03, 04, & 06. The only year the Falcons didn't make it was 2005. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. That makes no sense and I'm now a little confused. The Quarterfinal matchup here in East TN gives homefield advantage to whoever the higher seed is, but no Middle TN teams come here to play. It will more than likely be two Region 2-3A schools again, with Catholic either hosting Fulton or Fulton hosting AE. We had to travel to Pearl-Cohn last year in the Semifinals. So, you're saying that if Pearl-Cohn were to be in the Semis again, or somebody like White House, the Region 2-3A team would have to play on the road again? That makes no sense and is not a fair shake. We only missed out in 2005, but in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006, it flip-flopped each year. One year East traveled Middle, the next year Middle traveled East, then East to Middle, etc. That's the only fair way of doing it every year. We were on the road in 02, at home in 03, on the road in 04, and on the road in 06, so if the East TN team has to travel to Middle TN AGAIN this year, back-to-back years, then something needs to be done. That just doesn't sound right to me. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  13. Yeah, I knew the higher seed always gets home field advantage in the 3rd round. You are mistaken about East traveling West this year. Fulton went to Pearl-Cohn last year in the Semis. This year, Pearl-Cohn, White House, or whoever else gets out of that part of the bracket has to travel East this year, playing at Catholic, Fulton, AE, or whoever else gets out of that side for the Semis. 2002-Fulton went to Trousdale 2003-Macon County came to Fulton 2004-Fulton went to Smith County 2005-Notre Dame went to Livingston Academy 2006-Fulton went to Pearl-Cohn 2007-Middle travels East
  14. As much as I hate to admit it, Knoxville Catholic will more than likely be in the Title game unless AE, Fulton, or Pearl Cohn/White House can somehow knock them off before then. You never know. My honest prediction for the BlueCross Bowl is David Lipscomb vs. Catholic, with the Mustangs using their experience to defeat the Irish, finally getting the 3A Title game "monkey" off their backs.
  15. I'm going with Region 2. Anderson County by 12
  16. Somebody asked a question in an "If, then" format, so I simply answered that question. If you notice, I put "If" they meet again. He was just wanting to know who would play at home in that situation. I realize Fulton will have a tough test in AC. Catholic a tough test in AE. I'm not thinking ahead of anything, just answered the man's question.
  17. Too much speed, Roadrunners by 14
  18. I don't understand why Fulton would have home field advantage over Catholic if they meet again in the 3rd round. Since Catholic won the region and Fulton finished as the #2 seed, the Irish would have home field advantage in the playoffs over the Falcons. That's really the only perk to winning the region. The region champs usually have a tougher 2nd round matchup than the #2 seed, considering Catholic may have to play AE and Fulton will more than likely play Anderson County. If the TSSAA does have Fulton at home, then it must be a misprint. All 3 years Fulton has won State, the Falcons had to get Quarterfinal victories on the road, 2 wins at AE, 1 at Catholic, since those schools were the regular season champs out of the region.
  19. I was able to watch the 4th quarter on CSS. A great football game, very exciting. Man, White House has a great kicker. I was impressed with White House who looked pretty athletic, more than I was expecting since the only game I had to go on was the Alcoa game here in East TN. Good luck to both schools and who knows? Maybe Fulton will see one of you guys in the playoffs. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. You're right, 3 out of 4 is good and I shouldn't let that bother me, but unfortunately, it does. We beat LA by two scores in the regular season, but don't forget it was the LAST game of the regular season. We didn't play our best game and still held Wilson Cates & Co. to 6 points. The difference between us and Catholic is that was new territory for the Irish. As you stated, you were put out by Smith County the year before, so you had been to the Quarterfinals in 3A, Catholic had not. Why are you so certain that you would have beat us in 2004? Smith County beat you didn't they? Well, we went on the road against Smith in "The Hole" as they call it, and won 33-6. It wasn't even a game after halftime. So, I just don't see your logic on that one. The quarterfinal matchup between LA and Fulton would have come only 3 weeks since the 1st matchup. I know it's hard to beat a good team twice, but I would have really liked our chances, at home, with seniors who had been to 3 straight State games.... if Harrison Smith doesn't make a miraculus catch over at Catholic the week before. I know we only have that one game in Week 10 to go on as far as who was a better team that year and who knows what "could have been" as they say. I do commend you guys for taking care of business against Catholic (who I can't stand for the record), beating Notre Dame solid, and bringing the gold ball back to Region 2-3A. You guys showed a lot of heart and the stiff regular season competition of Region 2-3A really showed that year! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. The fixing the teeth comment was referring to me being a dentist. That had nothing to do with their skin color. I'm white, so why would I even talk about a white person? That post was referring to the comments made about only half of Fulton's State team graduating, which is completely false, and to the comment, "You better be among the 52% at Fulton, well, he didn't capitalize properly, "fulton", who graduate, because if not, you'll be working for those guys some day." Nothing at that point had been said about anybody's knowledge or integrity in the classroom and that guy makes, say what you want, racist comments about Fulton because it's an inner-city school. So, the "fixing their teeth" was responding to the "working for them some day" comment. There was no race intentions behind that. Why did he have to say that only half of Fulton's senior class graduated? That is ignorance at it's finest. Every one of Fulton's senior class on the football team got their diploma. Why else whould comments be made about Fulton's discipline, knowledge, graduation rates, and integrity off the field if not for the Falcons having African-American students? The "grillz" comment was completely out-of-line. The people over at Rutledge must be watching too much MTV, because I didn't see one single "grill" in 4 years at Fulton. When teams can't compete with a particular school on the field, then ignorant comments about graduation rates, "grillz", and "at least we can sleep at night" get said. Anybody who has played Fulton knows that all we did was play hard and win football games. As far as "what I know", I know a lot. If you want, I can give another Biology lesson over the boards if you guys even know what "Transcription" or "Translation" mean. On a further note, a comment referring to how straight one's teeth are is more along the lines of a "hillbilly" comment than a race one. All my caucasian friends, including myself, have fine teeth, so that really has nothing to do with race. Oh, and I'm not a kid just for the record. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  22. Did you not read my post? Did you halfway understand what I posted? The "grillz" comment was another racist remark, which is uncalled for. What are you talking about? Being able to sleep at night? It's amazing how jealous people become when they can't beat a particular team and when that team is successful. When they can't win on the field, they start attacking a student-athlete's integrity and intelligence. I graduated from Fulton last year and happen to be very intelligent. That statement about half of Fulton's State team not graduating is just an ignorant comment. We had some players that had to play JUCO because of academics, but everybody graduated. We had 8 players who signed to play collegiate football last year and one of our players happened to be the Salutatorian of Fulton. What upsets me is all these racist, ignorant comments about the integrity and knowledge of Fulton's players. Well, I was a player and this offends me. I was joking around about Carter and Rutledge's FOOTBALL teams, and start getting racist remarks about Fulton's players not graduating and "grillz". All this because we win football games and happen to have African-American players on the team. Talk about football all you want, but don't attack my intelligence and integrity. I'm not going to allow some guy from Rutledge who can't even properly put sentences together and use proper capitalization down my knowledge or my future in life. I scored a 28 on the ACT and like I said earlier, happen to have a 4.0 through mid-terms in college. The "grillz" comment just isn't funny. There are thousands of comedians unemployed and you guys are trying to tell inappropriate black jokes. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  23. All good points. It's just not as easy to win State as Fulton has made it look the past 4 years. Up until 2002, Fulton hadn't been to a State Championship game since 1974. That's a long time and I'm sure back then, they didn't think it would be 28 years before they went back. Buck Coatney, Coach Black Jr. and Sr., and Company have just steadily built that program into a powerhouse and rebuilding years are 2005, where we still won 8 games and were the most talented team in the State, and this year, where they are 7-2. We were the ONLY class ever in the history of Knox County to win 3 State Titles in our 4 years. Championships are few and far between unless you're at Maryville. Obviously I will be pulling hard for the Falcons to bring back the gold ball, but teams like Pearl Cohn and David Lipscomb did more than earn our respect playing them last year. The Firebirds had some LB's who were beast (#2 and #3) and Daunte Mason is committed to play in the SEC at Kentucky. Lipscomb was HUGE up front and had a lot of talented backs. Should be fun to see how everything plays out....
  24. As a matter of fact, the only thing factual you stated was that Rutledge is not on the same level as Fulton on the football field. That, my friend, is one thing we can agree on, and that you, at least, understand. I would also like to add that I will not be fixing Rutledge players' teeth. This being because I wll never live close enough to Rutledge to do so, thank goodness. After I finish studying, I'm going to go polish my State Championship rings which Rutledge will never contain, but good luck beating Carter. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  25. I'm actually majoring in Biology and am on track to make the Dean's List at the college I'm attending. Plan on being a Dentist in a few years. So, I'll actually be fixing their teeth some day. What do you do for a living? Oh, and for the record, every senior from the football team graduated last year, someone's a little racist I believe. Also, judging by your sentence structure and use of grammar, it does not appear as though you are the smartest cookie in the jar. If you like, I can explain DNA synthesis as it pertains to the cell cycle. See, DNA synthesis occurs in the G2 phase of the cell cycle. It begins when an enzyme called "Helicase" locks on to the nucleotide sequences of the DNA's double-stranded helix. Once the "Helicase" unzips the DNA molecule, then another enzyme called "Primase" comes in and adds a short RNA primer to the complementary strand of DNA on both the 3' prime and 5' prime ends of the DNA. It does this because the enzyme called "DNA polymerase", which adds the complimentary DNA nitrogenous bases, can only replicate a copy to an exitsting strand of DNA. In the meantime, enzymes called "Binding proteins" help keep the two split strands from rejoining and interfering with DNA replication. The DNA polymerase continues to create the complementary DNA strands in a 5'-3' directon until a "Terminator Sequence" of genes is reached. One strand replicates continuosly while the other strand forms short "Okazaki Fragments". When replication ceases, enzymes called "Ligase" come in and seal the sugar-phosphate backbone of the newly synthesized DNA molecules. Now, before you make any more stupid comments about Fulton because it's an inner-city school, you need to stop and think. You have no idea what you're talking about; stick to football and stop making ignorant comments. The definition of "ignorant" is "not knowing". You have no clue.
