1. QUOTE(FootballFan423 @ Jun 4 2007 - 02:22 PM) 826471228In 4A, will it be Morristown West and Maryville again? Will Morristown East be anywhere in the mix? How about Greeneville and their new coach, how will they fair? Sullivan South lost a lot, but still have Phillips, how are they looking? In 5A, looks like DB and Science Hill will be pretty good. Who else out of East TN will be good in 5A?

South will be strong AGAIN! Yes, they lost some seniors, but they also have some strong young guns coming up! Stacy will bring the best out of the talent he has and the men at South are looking to prove that they are the team to beat!

2. QUOTE(Heartbroke @ Jun 7 2007 - 12:56 PM) 826472576Just one question, why aren't South and DB playing football this year? That does not even sound right. I know it's old news, but I dont care. I'm from kingsport and I want to know.

You will never know the "real reason" the game was cancelled! Everyone has their opinion but noone "in the know" is talking! As far as I am concerned.... it has been way over played forever and I am glad it was cancelled.... DB was always "supposed" to win and South was always looking to beat DB (to prove something)..... the schools are in different classes (4A and 5A) for a reason! It is hard to compare the 2 teams when DB has 2 times the number of players ...regardless of how good South is they have not had the luxury of being able to use backeup players . I think it is time to move on! Goodluck to DB and LETS GO REBELS!

3. Waco is right.Bart will be a senior next year and clark doesn't play underclassmen over seniors no matter how good they are.Bart's parents are also over the Quarterback club and that goes a long way.

That sound like sour grapes to me! Clark hasn't won games by playing seniors just because they are seniors! Seems to me, He does a great job of getting the most out of his players regardless or age, race or parental influence! And that is coming from a South fan! So.... give him a little credit!

4. I just don't see Phillips going D1. He has not looked that good going up against a good team with a good defense. He could go to a Carson Newman, or Furman though. That is if he has a good year in '07.

Everyone on here is doing nothing more than voicing their opinions! Noone in the message boards has the slightest idea who Phillips has heard from.... He keeps that pretty quiet! He is a pretty level head and he knows that it is tough to go on to the next level! But you can be sure he's heard from ALOT of schools! Regardless of whether he goes D1, D2, or doesn't even play at the next level .... he has had a great high school career.... and he has played with his buddies and had a big time doing it! Isn't that what it is all about? I don't think he really needs a scholarship to attend the college of his choice! His parents can afford to send him wherever he wants to go... that means he can play football or not .... so... let's just sit back and see what happens! He will go to all the combines and camps ... his skills will speak for him.... those coaches and recruiters are the ones that matter.... not all the "old players who wish they could have gone on" from around here! This kid has another year to play without all the pressure.... why not let him enjoy it?! He is having fun at South.... enough said! Lets just sit back and see what happens! What do you say?!

5. I don't think he's smart enough for either V.T. or G.T. Without a doubt he could get in U.T. though.

"Not smart enough?" Where are you getting your information? What are you basing this opinion on? I didn't know you had access to his transcripts or his ACT and SAT scores! It amazes me how many people get on here and make such ridiculous posts! People shouldn't comment on things they know absolutely nothing about. NOTHING about!

6. Coming along? Man, he'd most likely be starting if he went to any other school!

He has had time to mature playing lots of time in JV games as well as many, many minutes in varsity after we have gotten things undercontrol....and yes you are probably correct IF he was at another school.... but he's not ... so as I said he'll be ready when Curt is gone! I am glad he is at South....
7. I think everyone is missing the point here...including Dr. Waco. It's called money. First of all, when Volman and I eluded to this issue 4/5 weeks ago in 2 different threads no one caught it. Why would we know about this 5 weeks ago. Especially if SHHS was shopping for a George Quarles type. Because SHHS is not shopping for a George Quarles type...it costs too much money. Money smart people can't justify unless they have guaranteed results. There are no guarantees. Instead, the smart money looks to the up and coming i.e. "Hungry" individual in search of a jewel in the rough. He is provided with a rare opportunity and a free hand in exchange for compensation when "you make it happen". It's a match made in heaven. SHHS gets a state championship sanctified vision, they pay less money than their previously unsuccessful coach made, and Ralphie boy gets a chance at the big time! I've said it before here and I'll say it again...Why move to a 2-a-day school when you can start your own! Ralph Nelson spends 5 years at SHHS and then gets a college gig. The timing is right and trust me...in NET we have the skill positions and just as much as the rest of the state. We DO NOT have the coaches to take them to the next level. But our weak point is linemen. Ralph Nelson will take the term lineman and turn it into a skill position...a weapon. If my son were at SHHS I would be ecstatic. And you people are sad that Bowles got the axe...get a grip. So, if Nelson is a 'Topper then look out because it's his chance of a lifetime and I don't see him blowing it.

I don't believe you could be happy (let alone Ecstatic) anywhere! Be honest with yourself for just once!
8. Man what a rumor, I think the guy would have more class than that, I dont think it would happen. But as ive said before we have a great young Qb in Bradley Jeffers waiting in the wings. Both are class guys and great Qb's so South has no need to fret either way.

Yes, Phillips DOES have more class than that! If people would quit writing crap on this post then the rumor would die.... but no.... everyone likes to feed the fire! Let it go... Ain't gonna happen! And Jeffers is coming along ... he has a good arm and he'll be ready to play with the big boys when Curt leaves! South will do fine for years to come in the QB area... there's an 8th grader at CHMS --- Heath Hayden who looks good to come in after Jeffers.... time will tell!

9. Go Rebs, beat the Canes. Curt Phillips and the Rebel passing attack will be to much for the run oriented Morristown East Hurricanes. I'll be in attendence since my Dobyns Bennett Indians blundered last week at home. Also, I'm hearing rumors Phillips is considering transfering to DB...anyone heard anything?

Ha! Thats a good one! People were talking like that 3 years ago before Phillips went to South! No way! Phillips is a REBELMAN!

10. After a big win for Sullivan South against Boone, How does everyone feel this game will play out?

As it was stated in the paper last week "the linemen do their job and the quarterback and receivers get the points" and unfortunately most of the glory! Without our line..... Curt gets punished and south does NOT do well.... remember the DB game? We LOVE our BIG line and we respect them for the job they do to protect our QB and give us options to run or throw! As long as EVERYONE does their job.... SOUTH WILL COME OUT VICTORIOUS!

11. Ok the hurry up offense is to break records in the 4th Curt needs just one more to tie the single season record. and when you tie something from there on is just making it almost untouchable for someone to achieve

"readnoevil"... I guess its okay to "speak evil"! What is your deal? Have you been at the games lately? If the coaches wanted to just break records and pad stats .... they could have kept Curt in during the second half of any of 3 games(this year, and several last year!) including the Happy Valley game, Central game, or the Johnson County game! That didn't and doesn't happen! The game at Unicoi was played the way it was to make a statement! I am tired of "hasbeens" talking "smack" about stats and all kinds of crap! Do you want South to win and to earn some respect or would you rather have us continue to be the "stepchild" of Kingsport forever?! Get over yourself and either respect and support "your" players and coaches or get the heck out and leave us alone! After all, these are just high school players, doing what their COACHES TELL THEM TO DO..... either your with us or your against us! You can't have it both ways! Stacy Carter has done a GREAT job with this team.... these boys love each other, they repect and support each other.... its too bad that the "community" doesn't follow their lead! Yes, no program is perfect and no coach is perfect... but give all of us a break..... could you do better? Enough said!!!!!!!

12. i guess in Sullivan County a real gentleman runs the score up instead of running the clock. Thats two weeks in a row he's done that.

Last night the rebels went into the game really tight! After losing a classmate... we knew that they would be either really aggressive or really tight! Fortunately they worked things out early and played a good game! That is a sign of a real champion! Thanks SETH for all your support! With that said...........

The fact of the matter is sometimes when you are fighting against "more than the opponenent" you need to make a statement! The refs were TERRIBLE tonight! The players on BOTH teams deserved more than that! So.... if and when the refs and the coaches let the game "get out of hand" like that..... then I say KICK THEIR BUTTS with no regrets! Stacy and and the South players deserve more respect than that from the refs and the fans!!!!! They got respect from the players, for the most part..... and I do think there will be some formal complaints sent to the TSSAA for the horrible officiating! We have film of the game.... and it is pretty easy to see the crap calls! Anyway, with that said.... GREAT JOB REBELS!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!
