lets play and see what happens. Every team at state has to prove they belong....This is high school athletics anything can happen

If you join an organization you play by those rules. there have been 1000s of cases were one kid was ineligible and the whole team forfeits. that blows the rest of the team arguemebt out of the water
-
the Wiseman lawsuit is a case in point
-
do not blame the TSSAA. Facility guidlines dictate the attendance.

If he let's Arlington play in state tournament does the Admin at Arlington schools have the guts to follow through with their own self-imposed sanctions.
-
Will it return to West Tennessee again? I haven't seen teams from middle or east but the Memphis area has several strong contenders. Houston(Hoop City Basketball Club), Arlington(Team Thad), Whitehaven, Memphis Central, East, Bartlett, and White Station all have solid groups.

Will Shelby county teams be able to play tonight? Will it be on an individual school situation or a district wide policy?

Ryan has been at east since the end of last school year. You have Jonathan lawson, Kennedy chandler, jalen brown, and james wiseman. All those guys are pretty good. James wiseman is top 5 in his class.
Being enrolled and moving are two different things. Most SCS schools will enroll students without regard for where they live because they have open enrollment or are optional schools. Once you have an athletic record with a state organization, there must be a change in residence, custody change, or parental job change for a student to be ruled eligible. Ryan is a good kid. He will be successful anywhere.

Are Boyce's parents moving from Collierville. There are limited ways a student athlete can transfer.

Yelp, we have exhausted this conversation. It is what the boards are for though.....

Our field at Collierville is pretty good.

kwc,
I was coming from the recruiting athlete standpoint and you know as well as I do that there are cases where the coach is left to gather info and they don't do a complete job or manipulate what they give administration. You can't go live with an relative (without a one-time guardianship change) or just rent an apartment (without selling old residence), live with a friend, or the myriad other ways the system is manipulated within the metro area. I am not just talking about city schools. ETHICS are on a decline and ADULTS are not ACTING like RESPONSIBLE ADULTS. Not directed at you, just a general comment.
-
If you allow a kid to transfer to your school and there a circumstances that are suspect in that transfer, that athlete will take the place of another kid. Are you doing right by the replaced kid. There are always people who are hurt by the change. You can justify it by situational ethics all you want. There are some kids that don't get to play because you allow the transfer. You look at the situation where this kid just left. There were many non-district kids on team that are transferring out and what do they have to replace them. Additionally, you believe that there won't be a stink about this when it gets to the season. My let them play 20 games and then complain. It has happened before. i.e. Hamilton

kwc, I just don't understand the mindset of allowing what is wrong to go on. Civic, social, and professional responsibility has fallen by the wayside, and allows what can only be called corruption of the process, not just in this setting but in society in general. Granted this is from a WASP perspective.
-
I have no problem with kids transferring as long as it's legit.
The problem is that many of these moves aren't legit. People are being dishonest and encouraging 15-18 year old to be dishonest.
And yes it does (sometimes) hurt the school they transfer from. It.can also indirectly hurt other schools.
Houston will hurt deeply by the loss of Ryan Boyce. Now the coaches over there have to make a choice to either play with what they have or go after another coaches players.
If DJ Jeffries leaves OB do you think OB will be the same kind of team?
At the beginning of the year Bartlett's best player packed up and went to Houston. Bartlett would have been better with that guy. They probably would have won district and maybe their region.
Most coaches understand that it might limit a kid so they don't say anything. That doesn't make it right.
There in lies the rub. A COACH CAN NOT GO AFTER ANOTHER COACH'S PLAYERS......If you think they can, you do not know the guidelines of the national federation or TSSAA. I understand many of you hate the TSSAA but they are the only thing between anarchy and sanity in high school athletics......Ethics of coaches should be the primary factor in that, but they are not.
-
restrictions by who? The TSSAA if that was true Penny wouldn't be on bench. Most play together on AAU. It is not a matter of money it is a matter of that is what AAU is for.
-
Sorry, where does it stop at. One team goes to this tournament the second place team goes to something else. It is like AAU, YBOA, and how many other type of youth organizations. You move down the competition level and you can find additional tournaments for everyone. If your team is willing to play the money they can play some more.
I firmly believe East will win the State Championship, but They will get their chance to play these other groups in AAU.
This will not be a popular post. LOL

Most of you don't know, but the TSSAA staff do not make the rules. There is a 12 member legislative council and 12 member board that make the rules and guidelines. Those folks are school administrators. The staff at TSSAA are employees of the the state school districts.
-
If you remember when we had spring fling in memphis they played softball at Snowden Grove parks I believe.
-
It probably has to do with TSSAA regulations. 3 week dead period after season is over and underclassmen playing in all-star game type stuff.

Whitehaven shot the ball well Saturday night and we couldn't get a couple to fall so we are done. I do not see them beating Southwind if they don't shoot that well again. We saw 3 games and they had only made 4 3s total and they made 7 or 8 the other night. Southwind is just bigger and more physical inside than we are and they should be able to win. Ridgeway is the next victim of Penny Prep School.
STUPID TOURNAMENT BRACKETT FOR 15AAAA
in Boys Basketball

We have 7 teams. Normal 1 gets a bye, 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6, 4 plays 5.
Bonehead bracket. 1 and 2 get a bye. 6 plays 7 to get to play 3 and 4 plays 5. Not sure who came up with the bracket but the other coaches or administrators should have thrown a fit.
