1. No, a high enrollment doesn't necessarily make a good team...David Crockett has more students than any of the region 2 or 3 schools and they stink...lol
2. You moron...the only time i even USED the word apology was when someone pointed out that MoWest and Maryville played in 1996 (cuz I was unaware of that fact)....but then I went on to point out how misleading it is to say "MoWest has only beaten Maryville twice in the last 10 years", when in fact they didn't play in 97,98,99, or 2000. As for fighting, I am not here to fight. I'm not here to offend anyone either. That is not what this forum is for, not to mention fighting on the internet is pretty pathetic. But if that's what you want to do....fight Maryville fans on a forum while also insulting one of your fellow Trojan fans...have at it.
3. First of all, i said i was joking and even removed the post. But, I will correct you on this...both high schools actually WERE Morristown City schools until a few years ago when Hamblen County annexed them. Unlike Blount County, which contains several cities, Hamblen County has only one city, Morristown. But like I said, i was only joking. I am well aware that the schools are set up in 4A based on student population, and if Maryville spilt into 2 schools, they would not be in 4A.
4. --> QUOTE(Nizzi B @ Nov 19 2006 - 01:14 AM) 826260871 Hey this is #44 for Morristown West I can't think of one bad thing to say about Maryville they have really earn my respect. And as for the West that do talk mess, they don't know what its like to go in between those lines every Friday. You guys have earned my respect and I will give you everything I got for my teammates and true Trojans fans and will do everything in my power to be a positive leader for those guys I have spent went for the past 12 years or so. 48 minutes of football will determine this game baby. J.J. Sims Well said....i wish you and the rest of the team the best of luck. If you win, I'll see you in Murfreesboro....and if not, CONGRATS on a great season. Morristown is proud!
5. This is a tad off-topic....but when is Spurrier gonna let Cade Thompson take a few snaps???? next year maybe?
6. Provol, I was not saying the PLAYERS or COACHES were conceited, because I don't think they are...no team could be so successful if they were, and I am sure coach GQ makes sure they don't become that way...i was using that term to describe some (NOT ALL) of the fans...based on the first few posts I saw in this thread. As far as region 3 goes, I was just defending region 2...I don't see how anybody can say one is better than the other (i am referring to the individual that said its not hard to go 13-0 in region 2)...if you look at the overall records of both regions, they look rather equal
7. Before you accuse me of "less than factual" responses....please back it up Also, I never singled ANYBODY out as 'ignorant', i only spoke in general terms (and if i offended anybody, i apologize)...and i certianly have not called anyone an 'idiot'....you however, are singling out....i understand you are probably just a teenager, based on how you reply, so I will ignore this meanless attack based on that
8. I will try DCM.... MoWest primarily runs in the I-formation (not sure how Maryville has defended that this year...i will leave that to someone esle) MoWest defense has played well this year (only allowed 13 pts in 1'st 3 playoff games), but I don't think they have had to defend the passing attack they will see against Maryville. (however, Knox West has a good passing attack, and as my friend FBEmeritus mentioned earlier, West had 2 INT's, so who knows) West is primarily a running team, but they have better capability to pass this year than in past years. (So far, they haven't HAD to pass much, but when they have it has been successful) As far as i know, West is healthy
9. My apologies, but I thought you were indicating they had played each other ALL 10 years, which obviously was not the case (as in they did not play each other in 97,98,99, or 2000)....and in 96 West was pretty much a mediocre team at best. Oh, and since you are going by recent history....i did not see you mention they beat a 4-6 Brainerd team by only 4 points (which Red bank beat 77-8)....see, don't go by scores and stats to predict the outcome of a game....
10. well said I40, and I agree. With most teams, West is able to wear them down with their depth. This is not the case with Maryville. I found this out a year ago. West will need some breaks, and they will need to play the best game of their season. I have the upmost respect for Maryville (I have made jokes in previous posts, but pls understand that is aimed at conceited and/or ignorant Maryville fans that have posted b4 me). I hope it is a good game, and congrats in advance to the winner.
11. hmmm.....i decided to delete that post because i only meant it as a joke....but since u responded....i said MARYVILLE has a population around the same as Morristown, not all of Blount County...but anyway, i was not making excuses because the game has not been played yet. As i said in a previous post, best of luck to both teams. If Maryville wins, I will pull for them in the state championship as I have in the past, because I support East TN teams.
12. ksetrojan i am sorry, but when people start posting erroneous facts (ie west beat maryville 2 times in TEN years, when its half that) i will correct them....if that makes me unliked....so be it. I compliment their coach, because i sincerely think he is a GREAT coach, and I get back "we won championships b4 GQ ever got here"...i will respond....i think GQ deserves alot of praise, as any head coach should...and i stand by the fact he deserves alot of the credit for their success.
13. LOL...ok, i stand corrected....maryville had a good coach YEARS ago too....but whoever coached between 1978-1998 should be shot LOL!
14. I attribute Maryville's success to their fine head coach. He is a great instructor of the game, and his players respond well to him. If they ever lose him, I think Maryville will be joining the other fish in the small pond...lol
15. Morristown West beat Maryville twice the past 5 years, not 10 (if you want folks to believe you are a sports analyst, you might want to get your facts straight). And both times, Maryville fans had to come up with some excuse why they lost, rather than just accept they got beat. In 2001, they said it was because of the 9/11 distraction, as if Morristown West is less patriotic somehow. And now I hear they lost the semi in 2003 because THEY played their worse game? I guess that kind of mentality comes with winning so many games. Anyway, best of luck to both teams...it is a great accomplishment to make it this far.
16. LOL!!! and you call region 3 teams like South Doyle (3-7), Clinton (2-8), and Lenoir City (1-9) good teams???? I think not my friend....all regions have their weak teams, including yours
17. If you take a quick look at the schedule and strength rankings, it blows what you just said right out of the water..... MoWest schedule rank - 31, Maryville schedule rank - 51 Mowest strength rank - 1, Maryville strenth rank - 2 You say region 3 is alot tougher than region 2? I saw two teams playing in the quarterfinals from region 2 last night (Mowest and MoEast), and only one from region 3 (Maryville). Also, MoWest played a tough out-of-conference schedule, with teams like Swain Co, NC (a powerhouse in NC) and your #2 seed Knox West. I suggest doing a little homework before you diss region 2 and harp on region 3
18. Here is another historical fact...maryville has only been defeated twice since 2001...to who???? MOWEST TROJANS...BOTH times....so lets go Trojans, you are overdue!!!!
19. I believe they usually line up in the I formation, and they have historically been a running team, but this year they have passed a little more than usual, so they are a little more balanced. Against Cocke Co, they rushed 29 times for 276 yards and passed 9 times with 5 completions for 117 yards ( and most of that passing occured early in the game, before West had built a big lead).
20. --> QUOTE(Nizzi B @ Oct 29 2006 - 01:31 PM) 826217434 Actually Morristown isnt too poor. They just push it to the side. But they are thinkin about putting grassy turf on the field for next year And technically, it's not Morristown....it's Hamblen Co....and on a side note....about 10+ years ago they put up for a vote in a Hamblen Co. election whether to build a new stadium at West or just renovate the existing Burke-Toney (the cheaper option obviously), and the vote went to renovation. So, it could be said that Hamblen Co. voters are too cheap...lol
21. I think it's a little bit of both...right now they are trying to figure out what to do about the East high school building. It is 82 years old and is leaking water through the walls. And West also needs renovations done to their school. So right now, a football field is the least of the school board's worries, unfortunately.
22. They play at the only football field Morristown has.....Burke-Toney lol
