I do not expect a current head coach, unless their program is not one that wins, will interview for this position. I see potential, but too many variables to leave a school with "W's". I do think you could see names from GIbson Co. HC, he is an alumni, if I'm not mistaken and a few other locals who have coached/ played at OC. In my opinion, you shouldn't go in with that type of mind set. You should want a person who will bring a winning attitude. "You play to win the game ". -Herm Edwards

The Gibson Co. HC will NOT be applying for this job. "Straight From the Source"

  2. Coach Winston must've made you mad somewhere along the way. Either you don't know the man or you have a problem with him. In my opinion, he should've atleast been given an opportunity with Gibson Co. as a head coach. I'm not saying that I'm not happy with Coach Cruse, but Coach Winston was given an unfair chance in my opinion. He was kind of screwed over in my opinion.

You could at least spell our last name right, its Cruce.

  3. On a side note, congrats to the GC Seniors on an awesome career at Gibson Co. Alyssa has only been at GC for 2 years, but won a state championship last year. Also to the twins, Courtney and Kelly Tyree, you guys haven't been 100% as you've both been battling the flu over the past week or 2, but you 2 are great players. Congrats to all 3 on very successful careers at Gibson Co.!

Although she did have a relatively good year this year, she had nothing to do with the state championship last year. 3 College Freshmen playing for UTM had everything to do with the state championship last year.

  4. Purple,

How crazy would it be to see two Sisco's and a Whitby on the same bench? I think you are absolutely right to say that not many teams would want to face that scenario :flower:

You're right. It would really make a lot of teams scared. And a lot of fans also.So scared that you'd have to have emercency personel on hand in case Whitby moved.!

That's a real classy statement! I feel sorry for the Barger's having to come back to Lake County and deal with people like you!

  5. P&G:

I agree that many people are upset about the whole Aubrey situation. My father in law was THE biggest OC supporter there was. He would and did do everything he possibly could to advance the OC program. When the OC administration basically tells someone who gives of his time freely to help that he is no longer allowed to contribute in anyway, what is one supposed to do. I think many don't realize the pain and agony the Reedy family has dealt with over the past three years. When people who call you friends repeatedly stab you in the back, it gets kinda hard to keep putting up with the same stuff. Personally, there will always be a special place in my heart for OC. However, why would I support a school or system that does nothing for me or my family? I guess I am the only one who can see the irony and hypocrisy in hiring Chassidy's trainer as ASSISTANT COACH when my father in law wasn't even allowed to help in any capacity. These decisions by the OC admin as well as others (dealing with football coaches) have really made me resent the OC school system administration.

In response to 3. Give me a break. My wife was a part of a team AT OCCHS that won at least 20 games EVERY year and even made it to the state tournament. 20 wins is nothing at OC. If she played at a non-tradition rich program it might be an accomplishment. In reality, she did NOTHING for her team on the grand scheme of things."

    1. Why would you ask that when I obviously posted "I heard" ??...I will say this Russ Barker, on the radio, said it was very questionable...He never complains about the refs..Danny said, yeah they knocked her down...I missed the replay...That's why I'm not going to argue that point....TIFWIW..

    2. Saying something like that about Chassidy is puzzling coming from someone with strong OC ties, unless there is an agenda...

    P&G-

You are exactly right to say I have strong ties to OC. I was valedictorian and I played football there for four years. I wouldn't change a second of my time with friends, such as your son, for anything. In reality, it is the OC people who have an agenda with my family. That being said, it really upsets me when people try to insinuate that Chassidy put OC girls basketball on the "map". GOOD player no doubt but you know as I do that basketball is not about one person. If I had my way, there would be no Miss Basketball and Mr. Football since they are both TEAM sports. Everyone believes a player should garner the award for different reasons. I feel that the overlying criteria SHOULD (but I am sure is not considering the members of state championship teams that did not win the award in all classes) be team success and leadership in a skillful way. Thus, my view is that she did not do much to advance Obion Central Basketball program to a level that was better than the way she found it, which should be the goal of all players and coaches.

    1. I believe Chassidy gave a comment in the Jackson Sun that seemed a little unneccessary in her statement about beating Gibson again.

    2. Wasn't Chassidy called for a walk at a crucial point in the game? One player and one play does not decide the outcome of any game. There are multiple missed opportunities in any given game.

    3. What has Chassidy done for OC?

    1. I'd have to read it...

    2. From everything I've heard it was very questionable...The Lady Rebels hit the wide-open lay-up at the end they win...Very Simple, I don't see how people can't get past that...I guess it's all the coach-speak they hear....

    3.Oh, I'd say about 20 wins a year...That's all...

  8. You guys stated earlier in the season that OC absolutely dominated that game, which they did. Now, you say GC played poorly. You're taking away an achievement that OC achieved this year in knocking off Gibson Co. by saying that the only reason OC won was because we played poorly. Yea, we did, but even if we played half way decent, OC was unstoppable that night. Fussell had a triple double and Macy finished with 29 in the game! Reedy was in foul trouble and didn't get to play much for us.

I've already gave my congratulations on here and even said she was a great player.

Also, you're hammering Mackenzie in what you are saying on here. You're moreless saying Mackenzie failed and cost OC the season, which is not the case considering you have said nothing about missed free throws in that game. You know, there was quite a few of them missed in that game and it was only a 1 point differential. What about your team defense that blew the lead and couldn't stop 1 player from Westview?

Earlier in the year, you said you were unbiased and had nothing to do with OC. Are you sure about that? Everything said about OC or Fussell, you have something to say about in reguards to defending OC.....

Just like ptguard12 pointed out to you in an earlier post....You give compliments in a back-handed sort of way...Chassidy is a great player, but.....The other girl that got nominated for Miss Basketball is good, but...OC played as a team against GC in the game at GC, but....See what I mean ??

Look....When it came down to THE critical point in the game what happened ??..Had the lay-up gone in it wouldn't have mattered whether or not they hit free throws....Acknowledge that...It goes both ways...Sure had OC hit all their free throws it MIGHT not have mattered...I DO KNOW ONE THING WITH PERFECT CLARITY...Had that lay-up went in OC would have won 51-50....Now let's end that debate...

I get very tired of people slighting what Chassidy has done....Chassidy is a good player, but...You know??...It gets very old....Allow me to let you in on something...I have no affiliation with OC basketball...I do however have one son that played football and graduated from OC,whom you know very well...Got another that is playing baseball this season and will play football next season...That's what affiliation I have to that school..Again,no earth-shattering , TMZ-like breaking news...I have been very transparent about who I follow...If I had my druthers it would be Union City, and I do follow them...I could rail on the basketball program, but I choose not to...It's not in the best interest of my son who has to walk up and down the halls of that school...That, I'm sure of...

Let's end this here...Chassidy Fussell is a great player who deserved that Miss Basketball Award..She will do very well at Texas...Heather Butler, Heather Griffin and Audrey Reedy are going to be part of something very special at UT-Martin....Congrats to the Gibson County Lady Pioneers...You young ladies proved to everyone that you are the very best in AA ball....

  9. First of all, I feel it necessary to post on this forum about speculations Ghost has made about the Reedy family. You should definitely gets your facts straight before you post your "garbage." In fact, the Reedy's had moved well before the school year ever started. AND as if you would be the type to worry about accuracy and facts, I would know since I am married to their oldest daughter! Why don't you act like an adult and give us the chance to know who you are. However, it seems you are too scared to do so. Also, the Lady Rebels won and Lady Pioneers lost. One game, one win, one loss. That is it. OC has a right to gloat for the old saying goes, "To the victors the spoils go." However, this game means nothing in the grand scheme of things so everyone please quit putting so much emphasis on it. The tournaments are the REAL games. SEE YOU THEN! :popcorneater:

  10. The player was away from where the ball was at, but so was everyone else on the floor except for the player dribbling the ball and the defender. They were standing at the top of the key between the three point line and the half court line. The violation was called on the baseline as our player was awaiting to see what play our coach was going to call. He obviously wasn't aware that he was standing out of bounds, but it's not like he was standing by the wall or anything. He was just on the other side of the baseline. On the next posession for Trenton back down the court, they hit a buzzard beater to win it. I'm upset with the call in the fact that it did cost us the game. I'm not upset at the referee as it is his job to make those types of calls. I'm definately not as informed as referees are about calls such as this. He ref'd a great game that was close the whole way. This call had just thrown me for a loop, especially when the call was made.

I agree that is a weird call and came at an inopportune time for the pioneers. However, that single call did not cost the pioneers the game. In fact, GC boys could have been called for a Technical foul for running the baseline when they entered the court (On the runout). However, that same referee that made the delay of game call also elected to only warn the GC team instead of calling the foul.

  11. Darren Bowling is in his 2nd year as head coach of the Union City Golden Tornadoes....I was thinking last night while I was listening to the broadcast of the UC-WC game, what other UC coach has started their career with a better record??...Bowling led his 1st team into the second round last year and ended the season at 10-2...This year he will lead the Tornadoes into the State Championship game with an 11-2 record....Two years and a 21-4 record....Hall of Fame coach Randy Barnes is the winningest coach in school history but he started out 17-5...I know, I played on those two teams...T.F Wallace was the next in wins but I have no idea how he started out....

Congrats to Darren Bowling...He is a real class act...He coached my oldest son all four of his years in high school while at Obion County Central...He does things the right way and his kids will run through a wall for him and they continue to feel that way long after they have graduated...

He has really turned this program around and speaking for myself as a former player at UCHS, I really appreciate the work you have done in a very short time... :bored:

Great Post! Coach Bowling is a great coach and an even better person. I enjoyed every moment that I played for him. He epitomizes the concept of a player's coach and tries to make the game fun on all levels. I have enjoyed watching the UC team grow under his leadership. No disrespect to the previous coach as he gave a great service to UC, but I believe Coach Bowling was the right coach to lead the UC Tornadoes into the promising future of the program. Anyways, congratulations to Coach Bowling and good luck on Friday.

  12. it is nice to hear people like bhhvols and purple and gold standard, who were not at the game, explain to us that were actually there exactly what happened with #56. listen, i don't know the kid or care anything about hearing his life story. here is what i know..... he got blocked by our running back and didn't like it so he threw our guy down and kicked him in the face. his immediate reaction was that he fully expected to either be thrown out or pulled out by his coaches. neither of those happend so that is the end of the story.

as far as me being a sore loser, i guess you didn't read my post. i congradulated union city's football team. they played very hard and deserved to win that game. they were more physical than us in our scrimmage game before the year and were againg last night in the second half.

The question is "Were you at the game?" Ronnie Fair was taken out for a play or two after that mishap in judgment. Thanks for your biased opinion though.
