  1. I went to the TSSAA web site..found out that it states and I quote " A student shall be ineligible in high school if he or she becomes 19 years of age on or before Aug. 1 or in junior high if he or she becomes 16 years of age on or before Aug. 1.

and what seems so interesting is that everyone knows who this site is about.

Congrats Smyrna, but be sure all of your players are eligible next year..

  2. How come the last 3 Smyrna games I have watched..everytime the other team starts to make a good run someone "gets an ache" and stops the game. It takes the momemtum out of the other team. Is this something that is taught to the players? Because it started at the Riverdale game, then Ootelwah, and now tonight everytime the other team is doing well someone goes down. Then he goes out one play, and then 2 plays later he is back in. Well I guess it works.

  3. I know high school is high school, and that a student is a student but tell me how can it be OK for someone who is 19 to be a junior to be allowed to play in a starting role in a sport program? Seems to me that at 19 he should be a graduate and playing for a college if he is good enough or just going to school. In started leagues they have age restrictions, why not high school? Can someone continue highschool for years...and continue playing sports at 20,21 and have that advantage over regular high school players who are age 16-18?

  4. OK so watching the Lipscomb / Fulton game & saw a interview with some of the Hillsboro players w/ the new haircuts. Looks like they took a page from the "Riverdale Playbook". Riverdale players "O"line men started that ealier in the year & it was in the papers and on tv & on this site so for the Hillsboro players to think that the mohawk fits them they are crazy...Mohawks are for WARRIORS!!!Good Luck Maryville

Looks like the haircuts did not help Hillsboro any...wtg maryville 35-10

  5. I agree with others on this site that Scott Thomas was a key candidate for the award. Anyone that had the opportunity to watch a Riverdale game left with respect for the way Scott plays. They award should be awarded on numbers but also on heart and drive. If that was the case then Scott would have won for sure. This guy would have defenses so mixed up even though everyone new they were running the ball no one knew who had it thanks to Scott. Also I have never seen anyone take hits like him and continue playing full speed. He was always about the team, and that is the way the award should show. A "Star" player but a "team" player as well.

  6. I would just like to say for a Riverdale team that at the beginning of the season was not "picked" to be in the playoffs like Smyrna was they sure came a LONG WAY. For those who choose to doubt Coach "A" and his decisions I think you are the ones who are at fault. Scott was playing with a shoulder that had been dislocated at the time we needed the 4 yards. No one else had been able to make a run more than 2-3 yards. We needed 4 for a 1st down. Sure the kicker has had some problems but sometimes you have to go with the play you think you have the best option to succeed with. If he had tried for the 1st down and not the 3 points and that didnt fly then everyone would be saying, "Why didn't Coach "A" go for the sure points? He could not win unless the play was made and that could only be done from the players. It was a tough battle for the whole team and all of the coaches. Not made or broken because of one play. Coach "A" and the staff have done a great job with this group to get them to this point and should be very proud. It is just a shame it had to end as it did. This team should be proud of the year they had and remember some of the great accomplishments. Guys you made us proud!!!Riverdale Fan Forever!!!
