  1. It sure has helped us get Soccer Coaches!! I am sure a good coach would want to hear these names. If football wins at the school it will carry the other sports financially. In other words football carries a school. Soccer wouldn't make enough to pay a light bill at a school. If everyone would join forces and not fight each other and work together then the school can go forward. I have been in a booster club sense the school was started. And like always just a few people would show up to help work. The basketball tournament that played around Christmas has been stopped because know one wanted to give up their Christmas vacation to help work it. And there went a lot of money to the booster club sense they got the consession stand money. And now the tournament will never be back at SQHS. We have got to work together booster club, teachers, etc. Everyone likes what the money buys for their sport but hardly anyone wants to work to rasie the money needed. Just thought I would throw this in here. Lets work together. Let me clarify one point here if I may. The way I remember the deal on the basketball tournament was the coaches(mostly) and administration no longer wanted to do the tournament. The booster club pushed to continue it.

  3. That is a great question. I know they have some kids they are excited about but to call them D-1 prospects at this point from what I saw is a stretch. They have some good young talent no doubt. They have several kids that run well and have a bright future but I think it is a little premature to call them D-1 at this point IMHOP> Our JV game whith them they handed it to us pretty good but they did use 5 or 6 kids that started on Friday night and we held out 7 sophomores that played on Friday. I don't mean to imply that they were trying to do anything underhaned at all, I believe it was just a numbers things with them that they were forced to play kids in a JV game that started on Friday.
  4. Now that is putting your money where your mouth is. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!! Now that there has been a change at the helm so to speak it may be an easier sale to the MSCC. I understand they have had some real problems with the former AD and one BB coach. It would be a great way for them to show support for the postive changes that have been made and a great motivator to continue the march to the promise land. I have been watching way to much TV /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  5. Lets remember that being impartial is something both sides ot the equation must possess . It is as much a responsibility, maybe even more so for the PARENTS to be impartial. Setting in the stands you learn a lot about peoples impartiality or lack there of. A kid will mirror what they hear at home. Kids will bring to practice the attitudes that are being witnessed and heard at home. So if we ALL want fairness it must start with ourselves first. After all when it is all said and done that is all one has real conrtol over anyway. IMHOP
  6. John that is good stuff. We can get a little uptight about it
  7. thats what I am saying SID. The best way to get this guy here is to make him AD. Let Summey be the Asst. AD for football. You and I both know that it is highly unlikely that the current Asst AD would be able to work with either of these guys anyway.
  8. FYI you need to call over to oak grove TODAY and encourage hiriing MS guy Trust me do it TODAY
  9. We must also remember that we are talking about two TOTALLY different individuals than what we have had in the past at AD. If it takes offering the AD position to get the guy from MS that is a no brainer, then let Coach be Asst. AD over football. They would be an awesome team.
  10. Just who would you then suggest to be AD? If you pose the question then you need to have a solution. My suggestion is what I stated before. Let Summey be Asst AD and be over football. Let the coach from MS be the AD over the rest. He has been an AD before and comes with glowing recomendations from everywhere he has been. Everywhere he has been has hated to see him go and on top of that his current principal called unsolicited to "highly" recommend the gentleman. Football would love to be able to keep all its revenue. That is great that soccer raised that kind of money. That is what every sport should be required to do at some level is raise some money towards there needs. I realize that some sports cannot support themselves totally from a realistic viewpoint, but that does not mean that you run around with your hand out wanting or even worse in my opinion expecting something for nothing. That is not how the real works and is not the way it should work at SQHS. I am not a Title IX expert and I know that there is some debate over this but my understanding is that football is exempt from Title IX to a large degree because there is no comparable sport for women, I will be the first to admit that I am no expert on Title IX. I don't know if you are aware of it or not but this last set of uniforms is the first new uniforms the athletic department has bought for football in TEN years. So to say or imply that football has gotten more is a simply not true.
  11. I did not mean what you said would influence the coach, but "others" may try and derail the coach you are going after
  12. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. I am sure that there are several more, but it is still in the miniority. I just feel it is a situation you avoid if you can.
  13. I am not sure I understand the question ( It has been suggested before that I have somone read the post to me) /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> but here goes. What is your suggestion? Most schools I know of have an AD?? Here is a novel idea for you on equal division of resources. You keep what revenue you generate and football will keep all of what they generate. How much more fair can you get than that. Or are you talking about football raising at least 75% of the revenue and then you want to divide it in equal parts?? Is that your idea of equal division????? As far as buses go the county should provide activity buses at each school. I think the soccer parents should take care of electric for the field, football boosters built the field house by money the raised maybe girls softball should think about doing it" themselves" instead of wanting someone else to fund it for them. Football players pay for there on camps, so should cheerleaders, bowling team can raise some revenue for their on lane rental and the same for golf green fees. Let me ask you this? Who subsidizes the football team for things they want or need? How about the basketball coaches be responsible for who works 'there" consession stand? I don't see any problems with paying your on way do you??? That is equal division. IMHOP
  14. If you look back at your previous post you were indicating the guys name from MS was Berrong. I just refrain from using names of people until it is official. They may not want people to know until it is official for what ever reason or there could be people that would like to torpedo your efforts by knowing names. You just never know.
  15. Steve Berrong is at the high school now. He is not the guy from MS
  16. The only school that I know of that does that is Meigs and I believe that was a situation where the then AD and head coach didn't want to be the Head coach anymore and stepped down to an Asst. I might be wrong on that I am not for sure. I am sure that they both could and would handle it, but it seems to me anyway, to avoid that potential problem if you can, and they can. If they want to.
  17. I know you are just repeating what you were told. That all sounds good, but it is simply not a good situation. Ask Don K if it worked for him. I realize it is two totally different individuals but you still are asking for trouble. I still think they have a simple solution as I posted earlier. Make Summey assistant AD over football and the MS guy AD over everything else. Everbody wins especially the kids!!!!
  18. Not exactly, to late they have allready upped the ante.they have now mentioned the AD positon, reduced teaching schedule and more pay. The sad part about this is we could have had him wrapped up weeks ago. I'm telling everyone you need to make the phone calls now or we are out!
  19. Good question. Here is what I would propose. There is also an assitant AD postion at the school. Make Summey the Assitant AD over football and the MS guy the AD over the rest of the sports. You remove any conflict of intrest between head football coach and having the AD as an assitant. Your head coach has control over his program, you get a quality assitant and a new AD. Its a win win deal. It dosent have to be that hard. Now MM and Oak Grove need to go ahead and pull the trigger. NOW!!!!
  20. I believe that coach has decided in moving it back to April 30. Starting early has nothing to do with assessing talent. He has all summer to do that.
  21. Moving practice up a week and a half will have no impact on assessing talent when he has all summer to do that. The problem is waiting till baseball is over gets you write at the end of the school year finishing spring ball. With test and all the other events it is very disruptive at the end of spring ball. If you are gong to have conflicts it is best to have those at the beginning not at the end of spring ball. IMHOP
  22. Still waiting on certification to be cleared up (thought to be a formality). If they offer this guy the AD position I think it is a done deal. In my opinion they should go ahead and offer the AD position to him and get it done. Anyone feeling the same should call out to Oak Grove and the high school and voice that opinion to the powers to be. Don't be bashfull or wait on someone else to make the phone call. This program is at a very important crossroads. Do it for the kids. There is at least one person out there that is after the job and trust me in my honest opinion and that is all it is my opinion He does not need to be the next AD. In fact it would be a gigantic step backwards. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. MAKE THE CALL! Do it now not tommorrow. There is a on going discussion with a coach from the area that would be a great asset to the staff. Fifty, fifty chance at getting him.
