  1. Hey guys I just wondered if any of you experts on the situation ever thought maybe Baker didnt hire Holiday because he knew more about Holiday than you guys do. Did Holiday not work with Baker when he was the head coach? Does that not give Baker some lee-way to not hire your so called golden boy. Baker has seen the workings from the inside working with Holiday(work ethics, football knowledge, loyalty, etc.) and loyalty doesnt mean he stayed there it means how did he work with the head coaches he worked with I personally know there were loyalty issues with the last two head coaches that worked there. I know this for a fact so dont try to debate it. I heard it with my own two ears. It is awful easy for an assistant to run into the so called fans on a saturday morning after a loss and totally throw the Head coach under the bus and place the blame elsewhere just so the community will appreciate the assistant that would have done things different the night before(dont try to debate this either as this was done directly to me)--so maybe all you guys calling for Holliday to get the job are the ones he talked to about how he would have done after a loss and how the head coaches held him back. Isnt it funny how things come in full circle--Holiday needs to be appreciative he has a job and maybe he is there because he couldnt get hired anywhere else. Im sure this will bring out some interesting responses and i really dont care i just think Baker is the one that has been unfairly criticized during this process for doing what he was suppose to do and take his time and not hire someone to hire someone. I think you guys will see he made the right hire.
  2. lets talk facts--first of all fulton won the game and will go on to next week and play red bank--you beat e.r.--however look at facts of the game--phantom holding call on long run by e.r. at the end of the 1st half that would have given the pioneers 1st and goal and the score would have been 21-14-e.r. would have scored it was obvious that fulton had no answer for e.r. run game--2nd--at least 2 o3 runs of 15 to 20 runs were called back against e.r--3rd t.d. called back in the 4th quarter that would have made the score 24-21 with all the momemtum to pioneers and 4th and probably the worst no roughing the kicker call on the field goal attempt when it was obvious that he was roughed as the coach and trainer was called out to help him off the field--whether they will admit it or not anyone who watched that game without a doubt will have to say e.r. was the more physical team--as far as the fans i can not comment on that because i saw none of it--its time to give east ridge credit-fulton won and deserves to go on to the next round but if e.r. doenst fumble the opening kickoff and cut down on the penalties i think the game would have been different--i think red bank will win by at least 2 tds
  3. Polk was the better team and their defense was tough--I didnt want to say anything about the tds that were called -1 i could live with but the one where er held them from the 1 yard line on 3 downs and the qb ran wide on 4th down was terrible-the ref came in from behind not even where he was suppose to be lined up at and signaled td--I came to 2 home games last year and by far er had the worst officiating i have ever seen and it seems to not have changed--the offense for er has a long way to go but i did see some signs of hope--er cant throw it very well at this point and that seems to hurt them when people can load up on the run. I still like the way both teams got after it and the young kids were entertaining also. good luck to both teams .---Dont get me wrong I am not saying officials was what hurt er, that was polk I just know the er kids get frustrated when they worked so hard on the goaline stand and then the ref. blows the call--Polk still was the better team reguardless.
  4. Thats kind of funny -correct me if i am wrong but someone said they thought east ridge was the weakest team there-when I saw them go goaline against south pitt--east ridge scored twice on them and south pitt didnt score any on east ridge--i talked to others at the scrimmage and and was told that east ridge did not give up a td in the entire scrimmage except to boyd during the goaline--east ridge may not be a boyd, mcminn central, or south pitt but from what i saw they more than held their own.
  5. I would bet coach lee will be getting those boys ready--give him some time and pigeon forge will be competitive in the future.
  6. All of you guys coninue to talk about mistakes that central made--last time i looked in the paper saturday morning east ridge had 12 penalties for 100 yards and a td called back and a td dropped right before half.
  7. Just got news that East Ridge may be a little short handed that Coach Martin had suspended a couple or three players.--AND THE PLOT THICKENS!!!!
  8. Don't think anyone on the current statt will get it from what I hear. Just dont think they are ready. Some pretty good resumes have been submitted and I think someone from the outside will get the job. I have been a meigs county supporter for a long time and i think this is a crucial time in their program to select the right person and not just hire someone to make certain people happy.
  9. what about Rayl from meigs county--he threw for over 1000 yards and had very few interceptions--i dont think people realize that meigs had a pretty good passing game last year-just because everyone thinks all they do is run it. rayl is not the athlete that jordan is from central but i think he threw for more yards than jordan did and rayl definetly didnt have the receivers that central had.--rayl is only a sophomore.
  10. Meigs is always picked down at the bottom of the list every year when people start talking about who is going to finish where. I understand why this is because they usually dont have that good of a crop of athlete to compete but seem to always find a way to be competitive. 2 years ago they were picked anywhere from 5th place to 7th place and won the region, this past year they finished 4th in the region with 3 region losses --2 of those coming in the last seconds of the game and the 3rd one coming in overtime--so dont count meigs out of the region race just yet. I do believe however that you have to put mcminn central and howard at the top again to be the pre season favorites and it depends who gets the east ridge job on where they are to be picked-they have some real athletes also--i think you then kind of put meigs, polk, notre dame, and sequoyah together to see who makes the playoffs.---now if you have a preseason poll on who has the best looking team or the best athlete i think you can make a case for meigs being at the bottom.
  11. DID YOU SEE MEIGS COUNTIES DEFENSE THIS YEAR--PATHETIC--LOOKS LIKE HE DIDNT MOTIVATE TOO MUCH.
  12. my son plays offense for meigs county --fullback trap right--tailback trap left --zone right --zone left--is this to complicated for calls --its funny that someone would say their offense is to complicated when all that meigs has been known for is being very simple on offense some complain to simple now you are saying someone tells you that their offense is to complicated--i wouldnt coach these days for nothing--it is almost an unwinnable situation.--and as far as the newspaper article my son also said they had an hour meeting on tuesday and that along with other things were discussed and it was a very good meeting. i know and all of the veteran players know coach martin isnt going to say a whole lot of good in the paper--especially the 1st scrimmage ---it is an in house thing that coach martin talks to his kids about every year not to believe every thing you read in the paper--good or bad.
  13. i have been told the facts about the situation--3 players did quit (none of them were even on the second string--1 starter did quit -told players he was upset about not getting the ball thrown to him friday at the scrimmage( i know coach martin pretty well if this is his attitude he couldnt play for coach) that is it. they have had several injuries and are pretty thin right now. i dont think things are as bad as maybe some have made it sound like.
  14. i totally agree with you--evidently you have played the game and understand what a great feeling it is to come off the field after working together and accomplishing good things. I have been at practice at meigs county several times this year and will say coach martin demands alot of his kids but isnt that what we want.--i see how he cares for them and my son actually tells me coach martin tells his players he loves them but wants to change how peoples expectations are with them. he wants them to believe that they can out work any team that face. with these temperatures i would love to have black and gold forever or what ever his name is to tell me what other coaches are doing to make it fun. thats what separates football from other sports not all kids are willing to sacrifice what it takes and then when they quit they always say it isnt fun anymore aka i cant do it. also once again tell me what you are talking about not performing something the college way . i am confused.
