  1. Well, many folks thought it would be one more season, but in his own words, his heart just wasn't into this years spring practice. Coach Satterfield has resigned his position at Sequoyah. Nearly 40 years of coaching, a state title, Blount County Hall of Fame and a mentor for many young men, the stories he could tell. Folks will hate to see him go, but I for one understand. Great career coach!
  2. Not real sure what is going on Sweetwater this year, seems to be a rebuilding year, Alcoa should roll in this one so I'll go with Tornadoes by a big margin.
  3. OK the men in blue have had their ups and downs this season and the ball coach has got his team heading in the right direction. Grundy will be a good time for getting the technique correct for both the starters and the back-ups before the big games with Polk and Howard and on into the playoffs. Great job men and good luck, GO BIG BLUE!
  4. I would like to leave a message for the Sequoyah Football Players, and this is from experience of some folks I know. Everyone I have ever talked to who said they didnt play their senior years for one reason or another, absolutely regretted the decision. Men, from what I know and have read, Coach Satterfield had no idea of what the board members were up to, he simply thought he was being hired by the folks who do the hiring. From what I hear and seen last season, the men of Sequoyah have been molded into a good football team and was expecting to make some noise this season, I would hope you guys come back and Make The Noise, do in for your new coach, your old coach, yourself and for everyone of your brothers out there on the field of battle. Do not go through life wonder "what if". Take some time and do the right thing. I'll pray for every football player who have struggled with their decision. God Bless and Go Chiefs!
  5. Hello Folks, I'm glad to see the boys in blue excited about this up and coming season. Coach Derrick is doing a fine job and the fans are excited, just cant wait for football. I did want to touch base on the recruiting issue for just a bit, the way I'm reading everything is that DJ King is a transfer to Central and now we're talking about maybe a QB coming from another, I'm sure both are good ball players and Central will benefit from them, my only concern is what are we telling those kids who lose their spots because of transfers, maybe or hopefully they would just replace freshmen or sophmores, but I'm afraid thats not the case. I would hate to think that a kid played all the way thru little league and then started working hard as a freshmen, all the way to be a senior and then maybe lose a spot because of some recruiting, please dont be offended if the kids are truely transfers because of families moving. But it seems like we are losing a little dignity just to win ballgames. When you think about it football is chance to make new friends, bonds with teammates, life lessons to learn and when it comes down to it there will be only one champion in each in each of the five levels of high school. Is it worth it? Is it worth recruiting? Not trying get anyone fired up, just saying we should be careful with our youth. Now more on a positive note, cant wait till Friday Nights get here. Keep up the good work!
  6. I'm guessing you (and I both) just do not know exactly what happened, so before we go blasting folks, maybe just maybe there is more to the story. I'll play the waiting game and hope somebody can explain. Read the paper today, Ronnie Summey hasnt been fired from the school system, just not retained as head coach, and may even be moved to another school.
  7. Any truth to the rumor that the assistant coaches that Ronnie Summey ran off are coming back to the team? Is it true that 15 kids came back to the team afterwards? Its kinda short notice to find a coach this season, but is there any canidates? Again, rumor, that the coach at Midway may be interested, anybody know anything? I would also like to add that Coach Ronnie Summey is a good person and a good coach.
  8. I tell ya what folks, this region hasnt done so great in the past few years in the playoffs, but you folks really love the game of football! I've read some good stuff on here, my goodness, from what I've read, this is going to be a dogfight in this region. Young men keep working hard and leave it on the field. Good Luck to everyone in the fall.
  9. Well I missed the Alcoa scrimmage, can anyone update me on the progress of the Big Blue? Remeber folks, the kids might be reading so lets keep it positive!
  10. Lets talk about the Wildcats, which play in one of the toughest regions in the state and their chances of making the playoffs? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  11. Well Folks I know its early but we got time to kill. Heres my list and I dont know much about some, so jump in and lets talk about it, convince me why I'm right or wrong (it does happen). 1. McMinn Central - They gotta couple of holes to fill but they should return a solid core of players. 2. Polk County - You just always count on tradition with those folks. 3. Notre Dame - Too much tallent to stay down for long. 4. (Tie) Howard - Athletes are still there, but also have some hiles to fill. Sequoyah - This team has potential, returns alot of starters on both sides of the ball. 6. (Tie) East Ridge - If rumors about the coach is true, there may be a learning curve there. Meigs County - Big questions on offense, can they make the answer. 8. Grundy County - I hope this team suprises me, and wish you good luck next season. 9. Tellico Plains - Alot of youngsters got to play last year and gained good experience, just lacking skilled position.
  12. Hey Folks, I dont know all the reasons for coaches not getting what they deserve, but I do know alot of coaches now days depend on boster clubs to supplement coaching pay. Maybe look into your booster club to help with the pay and draw some good canidates in. Congratulations to the young men who made the All Region Team. Good Luck folks in everything you can do for your program.
  13. Folks I'll steal a quote from Prospect, "Fulton is Unstoppable", but thats why we play the game, but still the Falcons bring home the gold once again, good luck to both teams.
  14. Folks, I believe South Pitt will bring home the gold, will be a close ballgame, good luck to both teams.
