  1. Congrats to Eagleville and NCS on advancing to the Regional Championship it was two great games to watch. I wanted to say to the VB Eagles you gave all the fans a great ride this year we just came up a little short. I am proud you guys held your heads high as you left the court and I am proud you guys have real class no matter win or loose. To the Seniors that will be leaving I will miss watching you guys play to the younger players the work starts now for next year so get in the gym any opportunity you have and be the best you can be. Good luck to Region 5 in the sectionals.
  2. It should be two good match ups. I would like to see coach Anderson get his 1000th win but I want to see it happen next season not this one. I hope that Eagleville beats CA and I think they have the team to do it and by the way, they are playing their best ball of the season. I see VB playing a great game tonight and maybe even getting the upset over the number 3 ranked team in the state. Anything can happen so good luck to everyone. I heard they are predicting up to 3 inches of snow on the mountain tonight so everyone be careful on their travel.
  3. You may get your rematch of a D-10 final. There may be another rematch of the D-9 finals. I don't blame you for picking your District. I will pick mine when I think we have a chance of winning. Not many people are giving VB a chance of winning except the ones that matter (the players). I like being the underdog. Go VB.
  4. How does everyone see the two match ups Tuesday night coming out? Eagleville and Clarksville Academy NCS and Van Buren
  5. Around 45 minutes east of Cookville. And yes they did host the first game at NCS because we played them and the gym was packed.
  6. My bad I guess sportsmanship is not warranted when the District Championship is on the line. I didn't know that rule. Sportsmanship should be top priority win or loose. VB has always tried to do this and yes he may have got knocked down but we don't play dirty and I will tell you if it had been the other way around you wouldn't have seen that reaction. Enough of that from me I want to congratulate Lillard on and outstanding tournament you deserved the MVP.
  7. That would be the best road I-40 to Cookville then 111 through Sparta and up to Spencer.
  8. Yes it can but the worst part isn't the 2 hrs 49 min. its the curving roads on the mountain. Be careful on your journey and good luck in your game.
  9. Yes VB didn't hit their shots last night like they did at Eagleville. If we had hit more of our threes last night it could have been a different ballgame. Farris had a good game last night hitting every three he shot I think and Smith hit one but the other guys couldn't buy one. I am not that upset over missing shots I kind of don't like to get out hustled after loose balls and not crashing the boards like we usually do. Also I noticed something last night that I had heard about some players on the Eagleville team. Not all of the players because most seemed like nice guys but when one of Eaglevilles players got knocked down toward the Eagleville fans and one of our guys went over to help him up he knocked our players hand away I don't think a player should do that.
  10. Eagleville beat us last night pure and simple. They had more energy seemed like everything was going their way. It looked to me the ball was bouncing in their favor off the rims. I don't think we boxed out that well last night and they did. I knew this was going to be a good game because I knew the talent they had. I really wanted this District Tournament title but we are a good enough team to rebound from this loss and do good in the region. Congratulations to Eagleville on a win maybe we will get to meet you again in the region tournament.
  11. Cascade11 We from Van Buren are used to travel we have been messed around for 3 years now. Not that I haven't enjoyed meeting the nice people in District 9A, but our shortest District game is Boyd Christian 30 minutes, the rest is a hour and a half at best. Hillwood isn't going to be much different on travel. I think it is hard in the fact of getting home so late you guys know that by having to travel that distance once a year to VB but they usually try to schedule them on Friday nights. I have heard so many fans in D-9 complain about the long trip to the mountain and I just ponder what if they were in Van Burens shoes? The trip to Clarksville 3 year ago about got me though. Maybe this season will pay off for us, but if it doesn't I have enjoyed every minute I have spent watching my Eagles play and I would do it again.
  12. What do you want to know about the teams of D-9? I don't think anything is a secret. You can get most information on the Tennessean website. If you want to know the style of play I can't inform you of that because they switch up so much. I have seen full court traps, half court traps, zones, man up, up tempo, half court sets. If we had played teams in comparison in your district I would tell you VB plays their style. I will tell you they are a good team and tough to beat if they are hitting their shots. Eagleville is the same way if they are on their game they are tuff and they are even bigger than us. Cascade and Forrest plays hard and that is what keeps them in most ballgames. Sounds kinda like D-10 doesn't it? It is no different if D-10 isn't executing they are in trouble and the same for D-9. I guess some thinks anything given out is a weakness but I don't mind it myself, I believe in saying this is what I have come and stop me. I do think we will see some good games in the Regions but it could be D-10 4-0 or vice versa. It gets me that some just rules out others when anything can happen on the hardwood. Oh yeah! You must throw in the refs. they can change how a team does. Good luck to all teams competing the Regions.
  13. In my opinion Community was one of the most improved teams in D-9 this year. They had a few problems they were working through on offense. I don't believe you can see a team for what they are matched up with just one team, you have to take the overall picture. I am glad they got put out early because they had games that they could beat you. As far as D-9 vs D-10 goes VB hasn't played any D-10 teams as already stated, so no measuring stick on them. I hope that we compete and represent our District with pride no matter win or loose. Good luck in the tournaments. Who ever plays VB on the Mountain enjoy the ride you will get their eventually. Just be careful on them winding mountains and enjoy the view.
  14. I believe that to avoid a situation like the fight that happened at Community last year you must get hold of an incident in an early stage. Take into consideration that this guy wasn't even giving the refs a hard time. Matter of fact he always gives them the benifit of doubt on a call. This wasn't a case of ill will toward anyone just a guy minding his own business. Seems to begin a fight someone must start it, in which the people in charge tried to do. You shouldn't treat people who isn't doing anything wrong like they are fixing to start a riot. Being in charge of things like this can be hard I understand that, but don't let this power take charge just because I am the boss and because I said so. No one should be above the law, even the law.
