  1. I really hope that the people posting on this site are just trying to stir the pot and are not serious. I am sure that the coaches and players for these two teams have a ton of respect for each other. Be realistic, it doesn't matter how weak or strong a region you played in if you make the state finals you have a team capable of winning. Sure blowouts happen in the state finals, but it isn't because one team is that much better than another. I have watched both teams play in person this year. In my opinion this game will be decided by turnovers. I wish that for once a thread would focus on the positives of two outstanding teams with great accomplishments and not try to belittle the hard work of some outstanding student athletes on both teams.

  2. Well hey there, Sunshine. I, snob though I may be, am sure glad that you decided to join CoachT. As for the recruiting of myself: chalk someone up for a mental error for wasting valuable recruitment hours on me. Have a nice week.

Daburg is just another alias of bombsquad. I heard he likes to argue with himself on these boards. No one be as dumb as daburg sounds. I wish this could just stick to football!

  3. Lets See...you were the last post on the original thread indicating that we need to get back to the game. You were the one who started the new thread..the real talk. If you didn't close it, then who did? Did we have divine intervention from The REAL MR. COACHT?

I don't know who closed but i'm sure glad they did. This is high school football- it is serious! If you want to be funny go to the be funny boards not the football boards!

  4. yeah they may set the tone ......but for the most part its practice against another team ...it does not have much else to do with the season... and ravenwood beat up hunters lane ..that wont be easy ..hunters lane is going to pound into ravenwoods heart running smack up the gut ..clay is a monster!!!

how about hunters lane and clarksville on a friday night ..hunters lane would smash them!!! ...by the way maplewood beat hunters lane reg season

i havent heard much on holt ... he still looking ..whoever gets him will be glad they did.

A scrimmage is like the regular season. Rehearsal. Once you get to the playoffs you find out who the real men are. I guess that leaves maplewood out! Of course they always have their excuses to fall back on!!

  5. rcombs, you cannot win this argument no matter how correct your argument is because plain and simple the private schools that are not in dII do not want to have to play against brentwood academy every year. if they stay in a region they don't have to face the other privates and they have a chance at winning. its basically the same as if they would allow public schools to drrop at least 2 classes. think about what camden, milan, huntiongdon, lewis could do if they were in 1-a. would goodpasture and cpa be as strong if they played in the playoffs against ba every year? i think not.

He can't win the argument, because you can't legislate everything, unless you give out an individual "participation trophy" to every team, in which case there is no need to even play the games. Most private schools like most public schools are willing to play anyone. some people act like every year we need to realign classifications based on who was good the previous year. Lets put all last years playoff qualifiers in one class, average teams in another and bad teams in another. That way at least one bad team will have a chance to win? You can't even everything. The innercity schools with with a very high population of transient students have a disadvantage to smaller county schools where students stay together and play together for years. Should we drop those schools down a few classes? What about schools with ELL populations, It is harder for them to communicate with their players and therefore a competitive disadvantage. What about failing schools where a large percentage of student sis academically ineligible? should schools like brentwood be allowed to compete with them even though they have more eligible players to choose from? The list of ifs and problems could go on forever, the point is why choose one thing to target and leave all of the other factors untouched?

  6. A lot of people can't just pick up and move if they want their kid to win a state title. The larger majority of people around have to play the hand they are dealt and hope for the best. Most people who can afford to pay tuition at privates are the one who can just pack up and move. And even some of those people are doing their best to pay tuition and keep food on the table.

So you are saying people have no choice where they live? Look nothing is ever gonna be completely fair. You said yourself that people who can afford to go to private school can afford to pick up and move. So what is the difference between the two? One, noone cares about and the other everyone makes a big deal about. So my question is what is the difference between picking where you live based on the school you will attend and picking what school you attend. Sounds like a slippery slope to me.

  7. So it's not a numbers issue, it's a recruitment issue :thumb: That was my point to start with :o

I'll never understand the whole recruitment issue argument. It seems to me every school strives for excellence. Why do they do this? Because if they are great then more good students and athletes will want to attend there. If it is a private school, they will pay tuition. If it is a good public school they will buy a house in that district. Don't small communities try to make their schools and facilities attractive so that people will want to live there and go to school there. To me any kid can go to school at any public school their parents just have to move into the district. Isn't this the same as paying tuition to go somewhere?

  8. You keep talking facts and articles. Prove it. Give the date of the article. Give credit to the writer.

I heard that he said that if we didn't he would. It was like so totally obvious that GP and PF were totally like arguing and like it was all his fault because like it just was. and PF was like whatever, and then GP was like whatever, so they were both just like whatever. So i think GP and PF should just like totally do whatever and just you know be like whatever.

  9. I woke up this morning and was surprised to see that a moderator had closed the original Giles County-Lipscomb thread. I thought that Coach T was an open forum to talk about all aspects of the game. Part of the game is the game day experience and everything that comes with it. There have been threads about the coldest game ever, who has the best fans, who has the best uniforms, the worst uniforms, the worst game officials, the best middle school team and so on. And then for a moderator to close an entertaining thread. The responses on the original site dealt with stories, though they may be just lore and Lipscomb superstition, and the prose..they are a part of the Lipscomb game day experience and have been for approximately 20 years. Yes, there are bagpipes that play, a flag flies on a pole next to the practice field that bares a scottish coat of arms and there are a number of other Lipscomb Game Day experiences that take place. Remember someone asked early in the thread, whats the deal with the bagpipes?

So now we have someone whose personal opinion and the authority to locked down a thread because he/she didn't understand or like the Lipscomb Game Day experience. (It had moved beyond the X's and O's) With that in mind, perhaps the Coach T people need to prohibit threads like I referenced above from ever being posted on this site.

Only so much can be said about the X's and O's of the game between Lipscomb and Giles County and I believe it has already been done. People have made their prediction, yet I cannot recall at this time whether Muffin got hers in. Giles County is a great ball club and I'm sure that they will be coming to Nashville sky high for this game...and the Mustangs better be ready. Hopefully, I have not offended anyone with this epistle and hope the moderator won't pull the plug on me.

I think football message boards should be for football messages! Poetry should be for poetry boards. I don't know if there are really those or not but it sounds like where poetry should be. I also think the lipscomb-giles thread should be for talking about lipscomb and giles. Not scotland. Scotland should be talked about on the scotland threads. save the football threads for football. OK, now time to talk lipscomb giles football for real- who will win? I guess we will have to wait til friday and see

  10. no more bagpipes poems or jokes please. lets start this one over

    lets hear the picks

Thanks to someone for finally straightening this mess out! I can't stand getting on here and reading garbage that has nothing to do with the game. I appreciate the purists on here who know what these message boards are all about- and it ain't poetry!!!!!
