  1. how many games did happy Valley play in? for some reason I only have them in 9...personally I think teams should play in ten games(even if that means playing monday or sat. for weather) if it is only 9 it should be taken into account for the playoffs.....

They did only play 9 games. It is taken into account...hence # of wins is before # of losses in tie-breaker.

I understand that, but playing another game gives a team the opportunity to win and LOSE......just thinking out loud

  2. According to TSSAA Playoff information and last night here is what I have.....

    Automatics...

    1) Elizabethton 2) Sullivan North 3) West Greene 4) Cumberland Gap 5) Austin-East

    6) G-P 7) CAK 8) Alcoa 9) Polk County 10)McMinn Central 11) Tyner 12) Bledsoe County

    13) Sequatchie 14) Smith County 15) Cannon County 16) Goodpasture 17) Pearl Cohn

    18) Camden 19) Stewart/Harpeth (winner) 20) Fairview 21) Lewis County 22) Milan

    23) Manassas 24) BTW/Oakheaven (winner)

That would leave 8 Wildcard spots

    1) Loudon (7 wins) 2) York (6 wins).....and then it all begins........

    Teams at 5 wins

Johnson County 5-5, East Literature 5-5, Happy Valley 5-4, Kingston 5-4 (play Loudon tonight)

    Westview 5-4 (play Covington tonight)

Teams trying to get to 5 wins....

Grundy 4-5 (play Notre Dame tonight) Harpeth 4-5 (play Stewart Tonight)

Jackson Central-Merry 4-5 (play Lexington tonight) South Greene 4-5 (play Chuckey-Doak tonight)

here is my stab in the dark at the final 8 Wildcard slots IMHO

    1) Loudon 2) York 3) Grundy 4) Westview 5) Kingston 6) Johnson county

and my two upset specials........Harpeth beats Stewart County which makes Stewart a wildcard and harpeth an automatic.... and Jackson Central-Merry beats Lexington, which puts them in :thumb:

  3. Okay Gerry have a case for you:

What will happen if Livingston academy in 4A beats Dekalb County in 4A, which then would have Cannon County win the district over Smith County what would that do to that Quad?

By the way this is a terrible mess and T$$AA really has no clue on what to do!!!!

That's what it would look like.

    Quad 3

    1. Goodpasture- # 1 in district

    8. Harpeth- WC

    4. Sequatchie County.- # 2 in district

    5. Pearl Cohn- # 5 in district

    3. Smith Co.- # 2 in district

    6. East Literature- WC

    2. Cannon Co.- # 1 in district

    7. Grundy Co.- WC

Gerry I mentioned this a minute ago, but would Smith and Sequatchie trade places to keep #1 and #2 from the same district from playing in the second round.....or that is what the t$$aa video mentioned :thumb:

  4. That's because they're A, AA, AAA first. :thumb: Some of these teams disappointed with their spots should be happy it's not 3-classes for the playoffs, too, like the old days or they wouldn't even be making it in at all. There's no way of helping that some regular season districts will have more or less larger schools compared to others in the class. The regular season groupings were narrowed down to 3 from 5 to help travel and it's helped for region match-ups, but they wanted to continue to give a lot of teams postseason spots.

Hey Indian, wake up. This is 2009. Not 1989. TSSAA jumps into this decision that was not favored by coaches or players, and now they have mislead people into what was going to happen. Who is going to hold the TSSAA accountable? Not people like you.

I can tell you the way it helps. Instead of having districts, have regions 1-8 like the old system and combine districts 1-2, 3-4 and so on. That way if schools don't make the playoffs it's because they could not beat teams in their class, not in a class above them. But wait that makes too much sense so the TSSAA wouldn't do it.

Gerry let me throw another fly in the....well whatever kinda of stuff this is. does it not also state that #1 and #2 seeds will be put on the other side of the brackets...such as Quad two...Polk is #1 and McMinn is #2 so McMinn should be put on the bottom....just making you think :thumb:

  5. Gerry,,

It says specificaly in the handbook

    Order of seeding is ,,,

    1. District Champs

    2. Distict runner ups

    3. #1 in Subdivision (it specifically says "subdivision")

4 #2 in subdivision (this goes up to all the auto qualifiers)

    5. Wildcards

    Look at this scenario,,,,

District X order of finish; 4a, 4a, 3a, 4a, 3a, 4a, 4a (One auto from 3A, seeded after any district champs or runner ups that happen to be in the same quad)

But if the order was; 4a, 4a, 4a, 4a, 3a, 4a, 3a,,,,that top 3a team would still be seeded the same way,,

it doesn't matter how many 4a teams are in front of the 3a team,,,,,they are still seede as a "subdivision #1",,,auto qualifier,,,

If those were two seperate districts and the two 3a teams fell in the same quad, they would be seeded at the same time with "the list" determining which got the higher seed ,,not the fact that one finished 3rd oVERALL, and the other finished 5th.

No that is incorrect. I emailed the TSSAA with my scenario. The scenario I listed in my first post is what was emailed back to me. Teams are seeded based on their finish in their district not their subdivision. I promise you. We will all be upset come Saturday Morning, cause I have been told the TSSAA may even not use the criteria for placing teams, they may just set up interesting match-ups. This system is a slippery slope and coaches, parents, and players need to stand up to the T$$AA.

Well if they want interesting matches...I am sure GVK and FB will be glad to "help" them have pleanty of entertainment if CAK and ALCOA are in different Quads :thumb::thumb::thumb::shock:B)

  6. The map is hard to read, but I think that is because CAK needs to be on the otherside of its little indicator dot...out of A-E and Alcoa CAK is the dot closest to middle TN, even though it is only a couple miles....

this is going to be a long week, I liked the playoff situation back a couple of years ago, when by this time you knew what was going on. 2A has been dealing with this for a couple years now.

I wonder how long it will take for coaches/players/fans/admins. to start crying foul after sat?

  7. Ron, no worries! No disrespect intended, the poster has done a phenomenol job, but while his pairings are likely correct (based on projected quadrant lines) the placement in the quad is incorrect for the East Middle quad. CAK is a guaranteed 2nd in district placement, which will put them in the 3rd pairing, not the second, still facing McMinn. If CAK was fortunate enough to win that game, they would face the winner of Polk vs Kingston. (I'm not guessing on the placement.)

Understand, that AE will be a higher seed as they are 1st in their district and CAK is 2nd, and quads will have all ones first. But, the way the quad is layed out is primarily based on how many teams from the same district are in a quad. CAK will be a 4 or 5 depending on how CAK and McMinn finish up. But CAK's placement within the quad is already determined. (3rd pairing, with Alcoa in 1st pairing.)

If you want to see for yourself go to http://tssaa.org/training/classificatio ... tation.htm

Start listening at the 18:00 minute mark and listen through the 19:50 mark.

If you really want to read further explanation, see my post at the bottom of the page on this thread:

Thanks, GVK I have seen the light :roflol:If this bracket holds up then Alcoa would play Tyner, winner of Loudon A-E, then probably winner of CAK-Polk...that would be a pretty good three game stretch for the ole F5

  8. Every week leading up to the playoffs I will try and do this. I just did the standings as is. I did not predict anything that hasn't happened. Here you go.

    Mid-East Quad

    1. Alcoa

    7. York Inst.

    4. CAK

    5. McMinn Central

    3. Austin-East

    6. Loudon

    2. Polk Co.

    8. Kingston

I know that I for one would rather see this happen :roflol:

    1. Alcoa

    7. York Inst. or Tyner

    4. Austin-East

    5. Loudon

    3. CAK

    6. McMinn Central

    2. Polk

    8. Kingston

based on records it would seem CAK would get a 3 seed over A-E, But I also know that A-E is the top dog in their district :roflol:

  9. word on the street is that #27 for CAK has been cleared....If so this great news not only for a young man who had a bad injury, but also for the pass happy warriors. I wouldn't be surprised to see them deploy the 5-wide sets that was seen ealry in the season :roflol: It was used very effectively ealry on and injuries slowed it down. :roflol: .....just an idea from the ole armchair QB :roflol:
