My dad taught for 30+ years at Cloudland. My sister has taught for 20+ in Elizabethton. I know a little about it. You can teach a kid to take a test and get good ACT, TCAP, etc scores. Then watch the "smart" ones get to college and struggle because they weren't educated. My niece is a perfect example. 4.0 and all A's in high school. Didn't get much scholarship assistance at all and was actually told that the quality of schools she came from had something to do with it. Didn't mean to get this started... we could go on for days and days about on this subject. Sorry..... and now, back to football.

Could you imagine if Carter County found a piece of land off the new Gap Creek "by-pass" and consolidated Hampton, Cloudland and Happy Valley. You would have a strong 4A program. They'd be some gold balls brought back for sure.

I agree with you BUT if you look at the quality of education that consolidation would provide for the kids, it would be the best thing. Lots of pros and cons here (I think the pros out weigh the cons) but I don't think you can base it on how Friday nights will be affected. Carter County will be forced to do something real soon with the aging schools they have.

Just looked at the Creekers schedule............Creekers games on Oct 5th (Boyd Buchannon) and Oct 12th (Hampton). Over/under 150 pts 2 games combined for BB and Hampton or 100 total offense for the Creekers 2 games combined?

hey uknoit........ was coming up to the "Hampton Inn - Dockside" and drove by to see how the DAWG was coming along. looking pretty dern good!! That guy sure is talented. such a waste though. i did hire one of them boys the other day. maybe i can keep him employeed!!!

stopped by the field Saturday and saw uknoit2 and uknoit3...... theyre putting in a lot of hard work and really making the place look great. i think ill write in uknoit2 as county commishiner or board of education or evenmayor of Hampton.

Several years ago everybody in the community was putting up their first cutting of hay. A family down the road had a very unexpected death in the family. My dad and another man decided that we were all going to go down and get their hay in for them. Dad called and hired some teenage help for a couple days. It was extremely hot one day and we took a lunch break. Mom fixed bologna sandwhiches and we had a cooler of ice cold pepsi. As we sat there one of the hired kids said "man, they aint nothing better on a hot day that a bologna sandwhich and cold pepsi. One of his buddies replied................................................... I fell off the back of the truck laughing so hard!!!
