  1. Thank You Capt. Obvious!!! I know our gym isn't big enough. Thats why we hold our SubState games at Motlow. Had heard that it was a small gym and was making sure it wasn't going to be held elswhere.

Does anyone know what time they are going to open the doors tomorrow night?

    We called MCHS.

The AD from Loretto told MCHS the gate would not open until 6 pm

  2. Gotta agree...Rachel Garland played great...it just wasn't Forrest's night. Hopefully, they will get to play again a few more times. The refs were just plain terrible. Since when do refs stop play for an injury...haven't seen that happen all year...and at such a pivotal time..maybe they need to add a few more refs to the game so they don't have to run so much! Maybe that would help! ;) Go Lady Rockets!

Great Game in spite of the referees! If you looked at the fouls in the first half you could see that it was lopsided in the other direction. Fact is both teams are physical and both were fouling at some point. It just was not officiated consistently. Both teams played with a lot of heart. If I had to choose between this crew and the ones that never let the game flow, I'd choose this one. There is always the potential that these teams will meet again. It was an exciting game. Forrest is a formidable opponent.

  3. From District 9A, it is quite obvious the top player is junior guard Rachel Garland from Moore County, followed closely behind by her teammate Heather Vann. Either or both of these ladies should be considered for MISS BASKETBALL!

I agree! Heather Vann, a senior and Rachel Garland, a junior both drive their team in different ways. You can check their current game and career stats out at www.mcgbb.com . Both have high GPA's and are leaders on and off of the court.

  4. Is Ms Kight for Moore County not back at full strength yet? I remember her as being a real good player for Moore County but she did not play much last night and not at all last time we met. Also hope the young lady who was in obvious pain with her knee is ok and ready to go as she certainly gives Moore quality time off the bench.

Kight is recovering from a knee surgery earlier in the year. She is not full strength yet but progressing every day. The other young lady, Howell, is playing with a torn ACL. She is just getting back on the floor some. I admire her for getting out there. They have both been missed and are doing what is needed to get back on the floor.

  5. Moore Co. being defeated by Forrest definitely changes things!!!

Yep. Makes Moore Co and Forrest tied for 1st or 2nd. However one wants to phrase it provided no other losses occur.

Forrest shot the lights out tonight! Maybe they got that out of their system. I have a feeling we will meet again in the near future. 45% from the 3pt line is impressive.

Congratulations Lady Rockets. Ouch! That hurt ;)

Go Raiderettes! It was a loss, but it was not the end of the line. Lots of ball yet to play.

  6. I do know that Houston County has a good team. They gave Moore County all they wanted in the 1st round of regions last year.

Moore Co met up with Houston County in Eagleville at their Christmas Tournament on Monday. Beat them 55-36 Vann had 28 pts, Garland had 15, Raby 6 and several other players scored. Don't know if they couldn't or just didn't guard Vann. Their defense looked pretty weak and they were at a height disadvantage.

  7. Rachel Garland should make the Miss Basketball list for Single A.

Tennessean box score shows Raby 16, Garland 14, Vann 13 and a host of others scoring. This game may not have been a good measure of a Miss Basketball candidate. The three players above are all great players. However, it takes a team...all of them to produce wins.

  8. Can't forget senior Amber Howell who came to the rescue playing post, forward and pt. guard at times last season. Howell was the key player in the sub state game that scored two free throws under pressure to seal the deal for Moore County. Added to the mix is a newcomer 6'0 Mikaela Bundy who will likely get some floor time to help in the post position. They also have a 6'0 freshman post.

I believe Cascade lost the junior player, the big girl

  9. Brentwood Academy, Elizabethton, and Shelbyville looked good. There were some others that were ok. But it was week one and alot of subbing going on.

So was Betsy the only team that looked really good from upper East TN?

Moore County played well against us and I heard Clarkrange looked good. I know South Greene was there, but I did not see them play or hear any results.

Moore Co beat South Greene. They were missing some players, but pulled out the win in final seconds.

  10. How are the girls lookin in camp? whose runnin the team while the search for a coach is goin on ?

Coach Lindsey is taking the team to camp. They were missing a few girls at camp. Won five of seven or something like that. Vann and Kight weren't there. Pierce is still rehabing a knee. Looks like these girls are doing what they need to do right now.

  11. The draw was a blind draw with those exceptions. Each coach got to pick a ball with a number on it that they selected and even placed it in the tumbler that was simlar to a bingo tumbler. There was a young boy who turned the tumbler until one ball fell. That number was called and matched to the team who had selected the number. That team was the top of the bracket. The next ball was tumbled out and that number was the bottom of the first bracket....all the way to the last ball. The coverage was on the Internet.
