  1. yes this just represents the destruction of the inner city schools and the inept administrators there. The great Elmer Ray would have pulled out all the wires to the sound system if this had happened when he was principal at Hillcrest.

What is worse to me is to walk into all white schools in the country and hear them play that junk. It is almost laughable...and take my word as a high school ref I have been in many gyms in the sticks in 7AA and 7AAA. Makes me want to break out laughing.

  2. Sounds like ya'll got your hands full Fri. Good Luck- I'm just messing with ya Z Swing and by the way don't start on the coach Butcher- he is one of the best in Smith Co. ....He gets the most out of what he has to work with every year.

How many schools do they have in SC? Just 2? So that narrows down the comp. Are you saying the coach at Gville is not as good? Didn't he beat SC. Based on that I would say the Tiger coach is the best in SC.

  3. Ohh ok.....Haven't been that way this year.....boys haven't won a game at home or a game period for that matter....girls have only won one game at home and that was against Tullahoma in the Kiwanis Classic.......I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Coffee County plays very solid defense....problem is........they have trouble scoring....

Seriously has CC ever been anywhere close to a contender in boys? Has WC? No to both.

  4. You heard it a couple of days ago, and now your hearing it again. That first game was a fluke, we played pretty bad in the second half, numerous times we broke your press, and just couldn't finish. Not doing fundamental things like boxing out. This time it will be different. I guarantee :)

Gonna be different? You must have changed coaches.

  5. One of their best players ever joined the coaching staff this year. He may help turn it around. They have some good athletes in Hardin Co., some just don't play basketball for whatever reason.

I heard about this Flatt kid. Did he pan out with NC State? Is he the new mystery coach?

  6. Go Owls!

Lets be real. Carthage HS is a nice school but it has been 20 years since they were anywhere close to a force and even then they were a regional force and not a statewide force. Anyone know where any of their "old" coaches are.....Spivey, Storie, Ashe ? I admire the Swing for his loyality to his alma mater.

  7. Howard Jackson?? Rade butcher you must not have been in touch with clarksville basketball in 5 or 6 years! thats how long its been since jackson has departed and as for the competition... tnbball makes the best point that most of the talent is spread through out the schools because there are so many in such a small area.

I knew he was gone. just wondered where to. imho I believe the Clarksville basketball scene with the exception of CHS needs a major enema......clean em out. Why is a good coach like Johnny Jackson coaching girls at Rossview?

  8. Who are you talking about? Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't West. TN completely dominated high school basketball the past 5 or 6 years. I doubt Ralph Turner, as good of a coach as he is, had much of an influence over Rick Rudesill, Shane Sisco, Larry Smalley, etc... These are just a few of the coaches in West TN that have had the good fortune of winning a gold ball in the past few years.

No...I would say all that talent had an influence over Rudesill, Sisco and Smalley.

  9. Well, for one I think the Clarksville schools are competitive. Clarksville HS has been the most consistent at competiting at a state or substate level. But you have to look at the fact that there are alot of schools in this city which spreads out most of the talent. Northeast, Northwest, and Kenwood are all within a 5-7 mile radius which seems crazy.

I think people would agree that Clarksville schools have held thier own and been competitive.

When was the last time Kenwood made it to a regional final or even a semifinal for that matter? What happened to Howard Jackson?

  10. Coach Williams and coach Greene are doing a tremendous job at Liberty. In today's time where so much emphasis is put on individual play and not on winning, coach Williams and coach Greene are teaching these kids how to be winners. Let's face it, everyone says that the rankings are overrated. That is true rankings is not the measuring stick for how good a team is. However rankings are based on winning, losing and exposure. Teams get less exposure when they are losing, and no one talks about second best. Great job coach Williams and coach Greene. :o

I hear so much about the lousy coaching in West TN but Ralph Turner at Union is changing all this and Dexter Williams is living proof of his work.

  11. That was before LA was playing good. They are playing really good right now I believe. They beat 3a Cookeville last night, and put 106 on the board a couple days ago. Although it is right now, and along way from tourney time, they will be good when that time comes I believe. Watch and see, as will 7AA.

Speaking of Livingston...how long has it been since they were a state contender? How about Smith?
