  1. Where were the big men, 220 lb and hwt for MBA this past weekend? I believe that had they been in the tournament, MBA would have moved up the charts.

I don't think the 220 or heavyweight from MBA could have done much more than the two they had at the tournament.

  2. CBG, no word! Come on man, you don't get the name Jimmy Hart for being quite. I am sorry, I guess you have to live in Memphis to know who Jimmy Hart is. GHouse, I knew you wouldn't say anything about Robinson, and that is why I didn't ask for your comments. I guess Robinson will have to sit out this year because he is transferring. That will be hard to do. The Baylor team is full of transfers. What is going on there?

  3. Why did he dump CBHS? What is up with that. Did he not feel CBHS would get him to a good college? In my opinnion, CBHS has the best program going on in Tennessee right now. This will be a big blow to the CBHS program.

  4. Why is Blackman listed 5th with 158 points and MBA listed 6th with 164.5 points? It appears that MBA finished 5th, not Blackman.

hoosyourdad, I guess this is because they bring their own officials to the tournament. No body else gets to do that. My dragons are going to get better soon. Just watch and see.

Looks like a good group of wrestlers. Glad to see Kendall Kermick going to MTSU to continue his wrestling career. I did notice were you had Michael Kennedy listed as one of the incoming freshmen. I thought he was going to UTC on scholarship. How did you lure him away from UTC? Nice job getting Michael. Good luck, Kendall and all the MTSU wrestlers and coaches.

  6. Can anyone give me information on Jeremy Umphries. I was told he wrestled in Memphis many years ago and is currently ranked in USA Grappling. How did he get into this if grappling not around the Memphis area? I am interested in this. How long has he been doing this.

  7. I think we as a state have dropped off lately on the national level. It seems like Tennessee wrestler have done well nationally the last ten years and now we don't have any of our best kids place at this tournament. All you got to do is look up the results at the NHSCA tournament for seniors. We use to have guys do very well at this tournament and then go onto the NCAA's and perform well enough to make All American. What has happened? What did those guys do then that we are not doing now? I do look forward to the start of high school season.

  8. Dragon Fly, not trying to bash or anything like that, but I find it funny that you are now saying that it's easier to win at the D2 level, when just a year ago you said (and I quote)

It makes me mad as heck that DI kids can't perform on the college level like the boys in DII. I just want to know why this is.

    :thumb:

my opinion has changed. It is a lot harder to win in the DI tourn than in the DII tourn.

  9. You should also reread some previous posts on this thread which show that it is, in fact, not easier to win state in The DII than in the other division. It varies with each weight class. For example, no one in the DII or DI could beat Croy or Allen of Mt J, however the same can be said for a healthy Zach Watson or Cole Hayes against DI.

Not sure I would throw Hayes in that mix, but only because of his issues with staying healthy, we haven't seen a healthy Hayes in a while, but in December he was healthy and Johnson beat him, so I'm not sure I would add him to this list (not trying to belittle his accomplishments, but when you mention the other 3, you have to give them their due). Also, you have to add Baucke in this list. He beat the #1 ranked D1 kid this year 10-0. That wasn't just a fluke, it was totally in his control the entire match.

Would love to see a match between Duncan and Aguilar. Would pay for that one.

You guys make my point. There are very few guys in DII who are top notch. I don't see why you think Duncan and Aguilar would be a good match. While we were competing in the duals 2 weeks ago, we saw Duncan lose his match. Is there anyone on the DII side who can go with Aguilar?

  10. Ok Pummelking, your right......the potential D-II state champs this year might as well not even show up to Frank town this weekend, because their championship simply won't matter. But anyone that knows anyhting about TN wrestling know that the top 3 or 4 in each division are about the same caliber.

    Great Thread Pummelking :roflolk:

I never said it did not matter, just that D2 state champion has a much easier road to follow without regionals and not a full wgt. class except for two and only being 16 man bracket.

State Champ is State Champ, I'd rather see A, AA, AAA so on, as compaired to D1 D2.

Pummelking, you are right about DII being easier to win. I made a request to my sons coach to move into DII because it is easier to win a state than DI. I can't figure out why more schools don't do this.

  11. Per TSSAA- If they are ineligible for academic reasons they can not wrestle exhibition or JV matches. If he is academically inellgible then I think someone needs to self report themeselves.

I don't think the TSSAA cares if this kid wrestles or not. He is just trying to get better. This doesn't concern the TSSAA anyway. This is between his coach, dad and school. If someone wants to report him to the TSSAA shame on you. Just get better. If you think this is a crime you should come to memphis and see what goes on in other sports.

  12. Hamm I think you are right about how Davis earned his state championship. I had some Franklin folks tell me way back then that Bond's dad gave the TSSAA an ear full after his kid was cheated out of his state title and that Franklin high school just went ahead and gave Bond the title even though the state doesn't recognize him. I think the tssaa cheated this boy and he deserves the title. I also remember the Franklin parents tell me the coach from Franklin also got fired after the tournament because of this. What a mess.

  13. Who cares if Notre Dame dumps Ryan this year. Why would anyone want to get their butts handed to themselves by Ryan. :hungry: If I were going to get killed, I would cancel the match also. Sounds like the Notre Dame coach is smarter than most coaches. :hungry:
