  1. What a difference a couple years make. When Riverdale beat Lavergne 110 to 8 or something like

that. All you could read on Coach T was how terrible Riverdale was for running up the score. The

integrity of the game has been compromised. How could the Riverdale coach beat them so bad? Just

    terrible sportsmanship.

  2. I bet that Tullahoma/Riverdale game is closer than people think. Wouldn't be surprised if the Lady Wildcats get the majority of 50/50 and judgment calls.

Good post. This is a long thread, but you may be the first person to hit on the real problem of this topic. Majority of 50/50 and judgment calls? Something to think about. On top of preparing for another team, coaches have to worry about a fair called game? Two teams, both trying to lose, takes away the impact of the officials on the game. I was at the game and no one was angry at the refs. Interesting. Win or lose, a fair called game solves these type games.

  3. 2 more Lady Warriors committed today.

    Deja Jones----SEMO

    Hannah Pendergrass----Trevecca

As well as the others who signed in the early signing period.

    Alexa Middleton----Tennessee

    Shelbie Davenport----Clemson

    Brandy Alley---Faulkner

    Rachel Conyers----Albany State

Mattie Cantrell----Had offers but has decided to be a regular college student.

Shanique Heard----undecided should make decision in the next couple of weeks.

I hear Mattie Cantrell will be a manager for the Lady Vols next year. Good luck Mattie.

  4. With the onslaught of recruiting on the high school level in girls basketball, it would be interesting to know how many transfers each team has on their rosters.   Of course, the granddaddy of transfers is Riverdale which had at least 5 on its roster this year but didn't even make the state tourney (Karma).   I know Blackman has at least one stolen from Mt. Juliet. Jefferson County had zero and Morristown West had zero. Maybe some of you can help me with the transfer situation at the 5 other AAA schools.  Also would be interested to know how many AAA schools that have won state championships in the last ten years did so with players recruited from other schools. I bet there aren't many.      Maybe if the TSSAA was half as interested in policing this transfer mess as they are in making sure no one brings a cup of coffee into the Murphy Center, we could finally level the playing field and have some degree of fairness in high school basketball.

    (Karma)? = Injuries

  5. I'm not quite sure why Rachel Bell wasn't nominated but she will be fine she has major D-1 schools after her so keep working Rachel.

Rachel Bell is a really fine player, so is Ty Petty, Sally McCabe, Callie Hackett, Brook Copeland, Hannah Goolsby to name a few more that wouldn't be out of place if they were on the list.

  6. Calvin Garrett, Nashville East. Several years in the NBA with the Rockets and Lakers.

Charles Davis, McGavock HS. Chicago Bulls. Maybe three NBA Championships.

    James Douglas, Pearl 66

    Theadore McClain (sp) Pearl 66

    Perry Wallace, Pearl 66

    Spencer Richardson, Nashville East

    All were great HS players.

Cory Brewer, Portland HS. Two NCAA National Championships at Florida. Scored 25 points just the other night in an NBA game.

  7. This one is going to have to be a big name that can draw. Players on the squad now require an equal to Wild along with someone who can teach, has AAU heavy background. There are a number floating around but only a few on the list mentioned. An issue will be the policy of the District as to how this will be done. Look for previous coach, a previous District 8 Coach or two, A University asst. Coach, numerous small college coaches and at least 2 0r three current 7AAA Coaches whose talent is very heavy. And yes, someone who has local Hooptown connections.

It will be interesting to see which way Riverdale will jump. Randy Frazier, now that would be something, but not happening.

  8. It's too early to say. Wait 'til the team camps are done, then look what happens in the HOF games.

There is where a better judgment can be made. :flower:

There are lots of freshmen that could have an impact on this season.

Jimbo44, you forgot to mention the annual migration of freshmen and transfers to other schools. It's just about that time of year and in some cases it can have an effect on district races.

  9. The Lebanon Girls basketball team startedout the season 1-4(including Hall of Fame games) and have two seniors that were contributers last year out with injuries. The team seems hopefull to be back and going by tourny time with the two seniors back. Is their start too bad to recover from or will they be a force to be reconed with in the latter part of the season with all their seniors back on the floor?

If they work hard in practice and put some extra time in shooting, they will improve. High school ball is all about the tournament and peaking at the right time.

  10. Most people can't afford to transfer their child to another school whether it be across town, to another district or what ever. The number of kids that will be actually affected as opposed to how many play across the state seems not worth the legislation of it(also the kids moving out of state for this very reason is a mute subject). If parents, (whom should) have the final say in what is best for their child, where he/she goes to school (for what ever reason) why is there question? If the move gives the child a better opportunity to succeed then that should be it. Mom, Dad and child decide(?), can make it happen(?), not breaking any laws(?)period end of dilemma. To draw my 2 cents to conclusion, coach the kids that want to be there, wish the ones that feel somewhere else suits them better farewell and good luck. Let parents choose whats best for their child and let government at what ever level stay out of personal lives and decisions.

GUMP, Your a genius. Good Post

  11. That sounds reasonable. When does this go in effect?

I see no reason for these rules. It can be handled in a much simpler way. Just chain your best players around there ankles so they can't run. The high school coach where they are zoned when they are born will have the only key. Just unlock the shackles for practice and games, then just slip them back on after. Maybe for the female players you could have them wear a veil. If they are really good players the other coaches couldn't tell who was whipping them out on the court and they wouldn't know who to recruit.

These two rules have a Russian or maybe China feel about them. I love living here in the good ole USA and don't really care for those two places.
