  1. In Katie Shelton of Beech HS's case, play a little AAU basketball. Multi-sport players the caliber of Miss Shelton can get scholarships in more than one sport. The question is what sport is she best at? Playing more than one sport is fun, but can a person be the best they can be at any one sport splitting playing time? I think the main thing is to be happy. Have fun this summer Katie!

  2. I couldn't see the fly ball down the right field line. The fly ball to left hit in the palm of the glove and came out. It was a error. It let the tying run score in the bottom of the sixth inning. It would have been the third out if it had been caught. MJ may have scored the next inning and won the game, maybe not. The cat was let out of the bag by the dropped ball. Thats softball. Its not over till its over. Congratulations to the MJ girls. Good win. Very good game by MJ's third baseman.

  3. The East / West All Star game may shed some light on who sould have been first team all state. Who should have been Miss Basketball. A little less double and triple teaming. Five solid players on each team,on the floor the whole game. Should be fun.

  4. If Tenn Tech had one scholarship to give and had its pick between all the Miss Basketball finalist or Rebecca Rowsey. Who would they pick? I can tell you coach Worrell likes to win and he likes his job. On a related subject, Chantelle Anderson from Vanderbilt told me the only reason Heidi Gillingham was any good was because she was 6'10". I asked her if she would be the best post in the country if she was 5'6" and not 6'6"? Would any of the finalist be up for the award without god given gifts? You can't pick and choose your gifts. In years past did the Miss basketball selection generate this much talk? Ashley McElhiney over Brook Armistead seems to be a tempest in a tea pot compared to this.

  5. Congratulations to all the Finalists. Good job. Thank goodness Rebecca Rowsey didn't make the cut. The coaches at Georgia, Vanderbilt, Ohio State, Stanford, OleMiss, Louisville, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Kentucky, Tulane, Texas Tech, Michigan, Air Force, Austin Peay, Alabama, Florida, Memphis, Missouri, Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, UTChattanooga, and all the rest were wrong about her. She can't play a lick. I'm glad the sports writers were able to show those coaches the error of their ways.

  6. Mt.Juliet Bears are on top of their game at the right time. The right time is tournament time. It seems to me some of the Beech Bucs players have Softball and Soccer on their minds. There is a opportunity here to be had. You only past this way once. You can't get it back. Play the best you can and your a winner no matter the score.

  7. At the Beech and Smyrna girls game tonight. Was it a foul? That was what it was called. Was it an Assault??? I think the TSSAA should take a look. You read about poor officiating around the state. You hear it all the time and you say to your self, I know what they mean I've seen it. I also know I couldn't do any better. But I still complain and make them angry and they do a worse job than they might have if I hadn't even come to the game. Did these officials do a good job tonight? There was no more trouble but it was also a 20 point game. What if it had been a close game? Even saying that misses the point. A player was fouled and it was called. The fouled player was then pushed down and when she got up she was knocked down with a blow to the head. A technical was called and shot. The first foul wasn't a one and one. The official asked each coach to take their player out of the game to cool off. They did and later each played and nothing else happened. Is everything OK? Is a blow to the head OK? I wasn't hit I didn't feel it.

  8. Rebecca Rowsey by about 6'4". If she were awarded Miss Basketball or if she wasn't you wouldn't know the deference. What a class lady. I have watched the ladys at LA, Westview, Oliver Springs And McMinn Central play AAU and high school ball. They all are very good. It will be a hard choice. If I were building AA a team. Rebecca would be my first pick.

  9. Talked to Amanda Butler( UNCC asssistant and former Mt. Juliet Bear heart throb) yesterday and she said Andrea was doing fine. She has good days and not so good days with her knees. I hope she does well and look forward to their visit to Vanderbilt.

  10. On the basis of Rebecca Rowsey making AAU All American in the 17 and under national tournament, and having a grass sack full of big time collage scholarships offered to her, I feel she is deserving of a mention. Alex Fuller, on her determined play as the 15 and under AAU national tournament wore on deep into the week is also deserving. It will be fun to watch all these good players this year and for years to come.
