My final prediction would be 37-14 D-1.

I think Reagan would win heavy, but I don't think that he would pin Palmore again. Got him late in the third when they wrestled earlier this year. I would chalk it up to a decision if they were to wrestle again.

  2. Oliver pinned Debian 3 times last year. Let's just be clear here, NOBODY in the state is remotely close to Oliver. The closest would be Murphy. He's a Fargo AA too with Debian. But we haven't had a champ there since Jordan Leen. To even suggest that Popp is on the same national level as a Fargo champ is a joke.

Leen never won Fargo. I believe the first Fargo champ from TN was Nick Marable.

  3. Anyone have info on what UTC's incoming class looks like? They haven't posted anything about their incoming class on the website. I was just wondering what it looks like overall and who from this senior class is staying in state.

  4. Times change. CBHS hasn't lost a dual to a team (public or private) from the Memphis area in about 9 years. Given the way they schedule, I think saying that they would shy away from combined region and state tournament for fear of competition is just silly. In that scenario they probably wouldn't send their entire team to the state tournament like they do under the current format. But to say that they wouldn't welcome a combined state tournament because they weren't finishing in top 4 of the region 20 years ago is ridiculous.

  5. As mentioned above, there is no telling what is running through a tennage boy's mind. Also, there is no telling what is on a tennage boy's hand under all the sweat, snot and funk that accumulate there during a wrestling match. As someone who has coached, the handshake is overrated. I'd prefer that it wasn't done after each individual match of a dual. When guys did come to shake my hand after a match, I generally offered up the fist bump instead.

  6. The CBHS duals were this past weekend. I was really Looking forward to CBHS-Soddy rematch in the finals of this one. Unfortunately Soddy elected not to make the trip, due to what I assume being the need to rest some injured guys. Without them there CBHS rolled. I don't have the full results but the scores of their duals were as follows.

    CBHS 58 Collierville 24

    CBHS 65 Cordova 15

    CBHS 69 Centennial 6

    CBHS 72 Arlington 6

  7. Actually based on what I have seen from them in the past regarding seeding Baker would have likely been the #1 seed over Lapaglia and Leeth but it really matters less given the pool format and draw into the bracket. Of course you have the wrong guys to compare him to since he would have been at 152 and the next highest seed would have been Cain Salas of Blue Springs.

My point, exactly. Its a real shame Kaleb didn't have the opportunity to attend this tournament his senior year. Its always fun to watch him compete against competition of this caliber.

  8. What does D1 have to do with anything? Apparently, the 10 pages were about more than just this.

If "speculation" regarding eligibility needs to be kept to a minimum, then "speculation" about ranking and this transfer causing a 12 point swing needs to be as well.

Time to pull out the old asterick until the ruling of what would be a moot point if this were a non-boarding school, is rendered.

As you will see, a lot of things on this message board result in a D1 vs D2 discussion. In the case of eligiability and transfer rules, the discussion began about a certain wrestler and then quickly shifted to whether or not the rules apply to private boarding schools in the same way they apply to public schools.

  9. I totally agree, which is what surprises me. Human nature would dictate that this would be a hot subject, and highly speculated.

Not knowing the "truth" usually motivates discussion on this board, rather than suppress it.

You want truth? "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!" Sorry...couldn't help myself. Nevertheless, here it is.... A wrestler of a state championship team transfers to it's rival before the next season, and could single handedly swing the outcome of the TN. state dual championship if deemed eligible. These are the facts of the case. And they are undisputed. Sorry...sorry, I did it again. A Few Good Men...Great Movie!!!

If you get on this board with any sort of frequency then you would know that Tate's eligibility has been discussed, speculated about, or whatever else you want to call it, at length. It is probably best that the "speculation" be kept to a minimum until someone closer to the situation knows for sure whether or not he will be eligible. Until then, there is about a 10 page thread about it buried somewhere on here if you would like to get caught up. Its mostly arguing about (surprise, surprise) the differences between D1 vs D2.

  10. so back to the original topic.... Congratulations to Phillip on a great achievement!! Winning the Pan Am games is awesome and no easy feat; though I'm sure Phillip has his sights set even higher. I can't wait to see what he and fellow Tennesseean/former Pan Am champion Nick Marable have in store this summer.

  11. I think Chris Lewis from CBHS is highly underated given the strides that have been made by that program over the past several years. A lot of which can be attributed to encouraging wrestling year round and the developement of a solid feeder program.
