  1. I have heard that the parents are trying to get a petition up to oust her before the season ends. I don't think it would be a mistake because the program will just sink further. If Agee were to take over he would at least would have coached 90% of the team previously. I think it could work. From what I gather the seniors on the team didn't want him because they "wanted to have fun" and he was too hard on them and yelled. There are a couple others that went against him a because their kid didn't play enough or didn't get enough props. I know both coach agee and his wife and she is very supportive of him. He understands that it will take ALOT of hard work and ALOT of time. He knows that it will not be easy but he is chomping at the bit for a chance to get in there and make things happen. He just needs a chance and the support of the parents that want to see the TEAM succeed. He is more than willing to do what it takes to get it done. If he were to take over the HS this year he would still finish out the DMS season but only coach HS next year. Who was the proven coach after Harrison resigned? As far as bond... that was off the cuff but he did well with the boys team.
  2. Agee came into the DCHS program in January of that season well after the preseason training and practice was over and 3/4 into the season as an assistant straight out of college. He helped the next year but also coached the middle school. He was an assistant at he high school with only two months of coaching under his belt and it was not his team to run. You can see that he runs an effective team now and is experienced. As far as my wishlist.... maybe Coach Bond but pickings are pretty slim. If Agee didn't succeed I would get on here and tell it like it is just as I have done Tobbitt. I am not trying to run her into the ground but I do not think that she is in any way an asset to the program. If Agee can't turn it around then he should hang up coaching but my bet is riding on him. I would almost guarantee that if he came in after christmas the girls would at least see a couple of wins and hang in there with some of the others. I agree that the program is sinking and something needs to be done. Why not give my pick a shot.... it definitely couldn't be any worse than it is now.
  3. Why is it that you think we need someone from out of town? We have already tried that route with Coach Holly White and Victor Harrison. No one is going to want to come to a losing team. They need someone in there that cares about the kids and that wants so badly to see them succeed and cares about sports in the county. I don't care if they are from Dekalb county; it matters about their integrity, drive, passion, and knowledge of basketball and how the game is played, and what it takes to win and most importantly has EXPERIENCE. I know in the past politics usually play a big role in the kids that play or make the team but if they hire the right person and do it fairly based on pure stats then it should not be a problem. I am sure as you can tell I am a Coach Agee advocate and think he would do an excellent job as the next DCHS girls basketball coach but if someone else is chosen I just hope that they choose someone with the above characteristics and I would wish them the best of luck!
  4. To basketballnut: The skills are being taught at the middle school level and seem to be working. If you do not have fundamental skills you can't win ballgames and they do and lots of them. There is one correct statement in your comments is that the skills are not being fine tuned. Not sure why the girls in middle school can shoot, score, dribble, play defense, know the plays, ect and for some reason don't do it at the high school. I have heard from quite a few of the freshmen that the coach has no idea what is going on and neither do the players as far as plays. In the middle school they could run many plays and get them right. It looks like the girls now are running around in circles trying to find their position. It all comes down to the coaching on that part. As far as the middle school and high school coaches being on the same page.... Last I heard Tobbitt said that "she did not need any help". She should be asking the middle school coach for some pointers as he does know what he is doing and as I keep saying, the same kids are playing the same kids at the high school level as they did in middle school.
  5. Thank you DC tiger Fan 07 some people around here are finally seeing that the kids are playing the same kids in middle school as high school. To add to your list is Warren Co., Middle Tennessee Christian in M'boro, Woodbury (Cannon Co.), Rickman (Livingston), and then they play in the Warren Co. Christmas tourney every year and play teams like Van Buren, Sequatchie, ect. The DMS girls have a tough schedule. I think that Coach Agee is doing a great job and has helped to mold the girls that have played for him into good players and some even great but for some very odd reason the talent begins to fizzle at the high school level. I do not think that the coach has total control over everything that happens on the floor for various reasons. Sometimes the kids minds are focused elsewhere, they are tired, nervous, ect. but for the majority the coach has to take control and lead the team to victory.
  6. Not sure why the seniors didn't want to play for him unless maybe he actually was a little hard on them when he assisted. Who is he related to? That is another problem..... the girls and their parents can't take someone being rough on their kids to make them strive to be better. I agree that we should focus on the future but I just wonder if he was asked to take the job now if he would. I mean really, I don't think it could get any worse.
  7. Okay, here's the truth for you.... The problem in Dekalb County is there is too much parental input as far as hiring a coach. I understand that everyone wants their child/grandchild to shine but give me a break.... not everyone is a superstar. I believe that you should work hard and earn your position and awards fairly. You should not get to play just because your parent complains. The same thing goes for people going against good coaches because their child didn't see the floor enough or get enough recognition. Truth be know..... the current DCHS girl's coach was about the 6th person offered the job. I heard that Josh Agee, Dekalb Middle's coach, went and asked for the job but was turned down because some parents complained that agee was unfair or whatever. All I can say is that I attend ALOT of basketball games in this county and elsewhere and Agee's girl's win or at least hold their own against the same teams and schools that DCHS is getting killed by. The record for the middle school should speak for itself. They win games! They go out there to play and win! Agee expects nothing less. Someone should ask if he wants the job. Seriously, what could it hurt???? Kudos to our last superintendent! He should definitly pat himself on the back for a job well done! The juniors and below on the team played these same schools in middle school and won. Why can't they win now???? I'll tell you, it is the coaching. When you don't know what you are doing you really can't tell someone else what to do. I really don't think that the coaching situation should be allowed to continue for the rest of the season. I am embarrased for these kids and the coach should graciously resign and let someone else step up to the plate.
  8. I have heard the same things and totally agree. I did however see them running a couple of days this summer. I have also heard that she wants to be buddies with the girls and buy them cokes and candy rather than practice. If she wants friends just be a teacher and mentor kids and let the coaching be left up to people that know what they are doing and have experience with good records that prove themselves.
  9. You are so right. they are not training for a marathon and should have gained enough stamina in the pre-season to keep up. Why is it that the freshmen, sophomore and juniors on this team won or at least competed with these same teams in middle school and now at the high school level are getting slaughtered. It doesn't make sense! The same kids are playing the same kids they played a few years prior. Seems to me it is not the kids or the talent... its the leadership. Anyone agree?
  10. Not offense but did you watch the game last night??? From what I saw, the lady tigers were out of shape and weren't even coached. I have been to quite a few games in my time and I have never seen a coach not use a single time out nor have I ever seen a coach on the losing end sit back with their arms crossed and smiling from ear to ear! Personally, if I was coaching and I was getting beat by 60+ I would be fuming mad! 14-80 is not what this team is capable of and I think a lot of talent is being wasted. I hope someone in the position of hiring coaches for this county steps up and does justice for these kids that are working hard. If something isn't done I forsee kids quitting and/or not going out for the team at all. That is a such a shame.
