CCS has been looking down but has had some real tough competition

Was thinking about that ... no team in the Chattanooga area (possibly the entire state) had a tougher schedule during the 1st 2 weeks of the season than CCS (against McCallie & Baylor).

On the other hand, no team in the Chattanooga area had an easier schedule during that same period than Boyd Buchanan (both home school teams?).

I'm looking forward to this game ... the homecoming for CCS. With the Boyd fans back on board, I'm sure the place will be packed.

I saw pictures of the Boyd senior football players at Disney. Surely they will be back to practice on Monday getting ready for this game.

Did anyone see the championship game?  Why so many technicals?  I didn't see it, but saw the score and it was pretty lopsided

I watched the game on TV and was disgusted by the officiating.

You would think that a state championship game would include an officiating crew that was also considered very good (at least) at what they do. The female official was awful and the other two were not very good either.

The play that really bothered me was the last play of the 1st half (still about a 10 point game) ... TRA had just hit a shot and Webb was on a fast break trying to get a last second shot off ... the TRA player aggressively blocked the driving layup and came down pretty hard on the Webb player. A foul was immediately called, followed by a technical about 2 seconds later - even though the TRA player was walking away from the play and didn't appear to say anything to anybody (it was an obvious foul). They showed the replay and again, he didn't appear to say anything.

Make no mistake ... Webb was going to win the game ... big ... but the officiating was an embarrassment to the TSSAA.

Knoxville Webb was the best team we saw all year (by far), but we did not see CPA, Goodpasture or any of the West teams. I can't believe they only have 1 senior.

So why is he playing if he got 2 T's.

That doesn't make sense to me either ... but after getting our 1st look at "Middle" refs last Wednesday night while playing at Webb Bell Buckles gym, I understand how he could have easily got 2 T's.

A lot of these officials have the attitude that we actually paid $7 to watch them officiate.

It was great to meet OLDad last night at the GCA v CCS basketball game! Hopefully, we'll run into you all again at the next bball game, or on the baseball field this spring. In the meantime, I hope you and your big stud have a terrific Christmas!!!

Thanks ... it was a pleasure meeting you as well. From what I saw, GCA is sitting prime for another state championship run ... I was very impressed.

We struggled to put TKA away last night but our sophomore post stepped up with 30+ in a high scoring game.

Look forward to seeing you again.

I caught some of the game online after. It just seems Webb has too much team speed this year for CCS. The Chargers did make it more interesting this time around than the earlier matchups Webb needs some young guys to step up with the injury bug plaguing them after Silverdales mudball field.

The game really wasn't that close at all. If CCS didn't have 2 good kickoff returns (1 for a TD), they probably would have only scored 7. I'm not counting the last TD for CCS when Webb had their entire 2nd Defense on the field and CCS kept their starting O in.

Next round will be interesting for the remaining East teams ... Webb missing one of their best backs, ND trying to play without a QB.

  7. Just fixing to head to Knoxville.

Every Friday, I'm hopeful that CCS will open things up on offense and do something different. Unfortunately, I think we're in for more of the same.

So ... we need 4 perfect drives and put 28 points on the board. That still might not be enough, but anything less than 28 I don't think will be enough.

    Safe traveling to everyone.

I've been to every CCS game the past 4 years, and I really don't think CCS has a shot even with a 100% team.  CCS beats up on the little guys without as many athletes, but falls on their face when playing a well coached team with equal talent.  They can hang for a little while, but when they have to make adjustments...forget about it.  If CCS is down by 2 scores, they can't catch up due to their offense (watch the QB run to the sideline after every down to get the play, then run back in to run the next).  The Grace game was an  embarrassment.  The coaches make the players watch film, but I'm not sure they watch any themselves (that goes for most of the games).  Fant at ND does a great job with in game adjustments, and the Grace OC has a fun offense that most kids would love to play in.  CCS is as predictable as a 2 headed quarter.

CCS has good players, but they are out of position.

    100% TRUE!!

I could type forever on all your points, but the QB running over to the sideline every play drives me crazy. How many delay of game penalty's have we received this year b/c of that? Sometimes, we can't get the 1st play off after a change in possession.

The Grace QB made us look silly. He's getting a simple hand signal from the sideline, then calling audibles with hand signals when needed ... all the while getting the play off in about 10 seconds. In the meantime, we don't have time to run in a defensive sub. We made that kid look like Payton Manning.

Webb's defensive lineman are going to flop right in front of our OL's legs. Do you think we'll run a sweep while they're laying on the ground? Or maybe a simple crossing pass with the passing lanes wide open? Not a chance ... Mondo left, Mondo right, Mondo up the gut, punt ... with the occasional bomb to #9 thrown in. One bad play and the drive is toast.

    Round 1

    Luzianne

    ECS

    CPA

    St George

    ND

    FRA

    Webb

    Quarterfinals

    Luzianne

    CPA

    ND

    FRA

    Semifinals

    Luzianne

    ND

FRA would be playing ND in the quarterfinals ... they can't both win.

    You left out BGA/Silverdale winner

  10. Congratulations to Grace on the win.

From the opening coin toss (which CCS deferred and spotted the home team a 7-0 lead a minute & 20 seconds into the game), CCS never had a chance. It was a total mismatch of football playing.

I've watched 10 weeks of DII-AA East football and Grace gets MY AWARDS this year for the following:

    • Best National Anthem
    • Almost the best prayer - JK
    • The best QB (by far)
    • The best receiving group
    • The best offensive coordinator
    • The best kicker (don't really know about the punter since we never saw him)

As for CCS ... I'll simply say that our players deserve better. The game plan didn't give them a chance to win, but we have the athletes.

Good luck to Grace in the playoffs.

  11. LOL ... don't EVER say anything remotely positive about CCS football or else you'll have to read an endless diatribe from booger about why it isn't true.

And he also forgot to tell you that Notre Dame had to resort to a desperate  trick play in order to setup that late 3rd quarter go ahead touchdown.

Seeing Red Bank at #1 is a little surprising given their strength of schedule. I would think McCallie would have a good shot at mercy ruling them. Having said that, I’ve only seen McCallie on film and not Red Bank, so my opinion and $1.50 might buy you a soda... Not many teams look as big and athletic as MaCallie and also beat BA.

Yes, but if you took that $1.50 and made a wager with Pat that McCallie would beat Red Bank, then he would most certainly be buying you 2 sodas early in the 3rd quarter.

I actually think CCS should be favored. The way they played ND tough for a half makes me favor the Chargers.

I think both defenses will have a hard time stopping the opposing offenses. Whoever makes the big stop wins.

I know you personally saw our pass defense against Baylor ... and it was bad. That's probably the only team that's tried to pass much against CCS this year.

But with rain in the forecast, I'm hoping that will slow down the Grace passing attack.

CCS will have to score more than 7 points to get this win, which is all they scored against Webb & ND.

That was a competitive first half.  We needed it to stay sharp and get ready for our playoff run.  I going to talk to Fant about maybe putting the Sword Of Joshua Full Gospel Independent Pentecostal Assembly just off Broad Street on Charger Drive on our practice squad.

    That sounds like great idea!

But, you probably don't need to get more linemen hurt right before the playoffs. You're already missing a quarterback.

By the way, I love the small font in your post. Nothing says I'm a "Booger Minion" better than a copy/paste from the Grand Poobah of Nose Dung himself.

You know ... every now and then, you accidentally stumble onto the truth ... except for the morman part. Not that there is anything against being a morman ... I'd probably rather be morman than catholic.

But if your boys can't handle a defensive lineman going low, you need to get them some panties. If you ever match up with Webb again, that is ALL they are going to do with ND.

You guys don't have to make excuses for not being able to "name the score" ... Just take the win and TRY to show an ounce of class.

I'm not sure about 53, but I certainly wouldn't take your word for it.

Region champs though and ya'll played dirty all night.  We will still get further in the playoffs than you will the in the next 10 years.

    You've got a good team!

Why do you have to get on here and lie? Nobody from CCS "played dirty". Notre Dame was the team who got all of the personal foul calls and you know it!!

we finally figured out their coaches signal to cut low on our line at half time while watchin film......once we did that we just altered our play once they gave the signal to their line to close their eyes and dive for the ankles and took charge of the 2nd half....kinda of a coward way to play defensive football.....but with it bein legal on defense you kinda just adjust and hope for the best.....it did remove 2 of our trenchers from the game with knee injurys..

great win at the end of the day for the Irish.....Region Champs again

    Booger just sayin :thumb:

Both of your lineman got hurt playing defense ... stop the BS

  19. I don't believe ND is good enough to "name the score". I wonder if they were naming 8-7 at the end of 1Q against Silverdale.

I hope to see 17 out there tonight for ND. I hate for kids to miss high school games because of injury.

Looking forward to a great evening of football on the CCS campus.

Don't forget your $5 for parking. Tonight's take is going towards our basketball program.
