  1. I'll just say this, both student sections are very passionate and rabid of their schools. I don't know about Cosby or Unaka's gyms because I've not been to either, but the Oliver Springs gym should be called "The Asylum" because that is by far the most intimidating atmosphere I've ever seen and those fans can get pretty wild.

I do have a question though for Cosby fans, is there any truth to the story that one time while somebody was shooting a foul shot, someone brought a shotgun in the gym and blew the ball to smithereens in mid-air? Because if that's true, I have to say your fans are hardcore.

  2. I hope they could maybe get Coach Snyder back because she's doing a pretty good job at Clinton plus has had success in some form with a Wartburg school, but I'd say Anderson County pays more than Morgan County ever could so it won't happen.

  3. Oh, I had thought it was a consecutive streak, but I guess not. But still, 3 state tournament appearances (potentially 4) in two different classifications from 2002-2007 is pretty impressive nevertheless.

  4. That district on the girls side is going to be very strong next year. O.S. will still have the team to beat until proven otherwise. Oakdale looks like they're going to be in solid shape. Wartburg and Coalfield both are going to turn some heads because they're both definitely on an upswing. And Oneida is a team you can't count out. Basically, you're going to have 5 GOOD teams in that region next year and what's going to be a shame is one of these teams won't even get out of the district tournament.

  5. To me, it seems like a mirror match. Harriman beat Wartburg on their court earlier in the year and Wartburg beat Harriman on their homecourt. D.J. Shannon is going to have to have another 30+ point night and some other Wartburg players have got to step up. Harriman needs Williams and Goins to play the game of their lives as well. There's just something about Wartburg though that gives them a slight edge. It seemed like that loss to Oliver Springs may have been the shot in the mouth they needed to peak at the right time.

  6. What killed Grace more than anything was Wartburg embarrassing them on the boards and D.J. Shannon going through Grace like General Sherman went through Georgia. (Two points to anyone who gets the reference.) You can't let a kid score 46 points and expect to win. I'll give Grace credit, they really overachieved this year and they have a good foundation for what could be a very solid program in the years to come.

  7. D.J. Shannon had 36 points for Wartburg. Seemed like no matter where he shot from he would hit it. Tyler Carter had 23 for O.S. and Dan Schultz wasn't far behind with 21 points. I've got a feeling that if you thought round two was a barn-burner, round three will be a shootout between two very solid teams.

  8. It sickens me to hear about incidents like this where some kid couldn't keep his temper in check and deliberately injures another player. It's completely uncalled for and bone-headed on the Loudon player's part for pulling that. But what makes this more appalling is the apparent behavior of the Loudon student section throughout the evening and that the administration either couldn't or wouldn't put a stop to it right then and there.
