What the heck is taking so long? Name a coach and let him start working with his poetntial players. No wonder Coach Carroll didn't have much of a chance to win - no administrative help. Another question, isn't the AD at Gibbs the same guy that hired the crazy man at South Doyle? If he is, we all know this is going to be a tough time for Gibbs.

Didn't Maryville stay in 4A because some 4A schools chose to play with the big boys? If Maryville really had a set like those schools had, then they would be in 5A already. When they do go 5a in 2009 where will they play? They will not have the luxury of travelling only 45 minutes to Clinton for a game. They will be heading to D-B or down to Choo-Choo town. More costly for being placed in the class they should have been in all along.

GQ will not leave for UT. Why? From all reports I have heard he is a true family man with young children. If this is true, he will not be comfortable out on the road recruiting as much as he prolly have to be.

Hey all you Maryville fans, where is your QB going to sign with? I heard he was being recruited by D-1 schools but have not heard where he is going?

Schools not numbers - count on / about 60 schools for 5A. If Maryville is in that group of 60 drop to the next school cause they will find a way to stay at 4A.

I don't know Coach Petrone at all (but I will call a friend & inquire about him). But either he is one disliked person or somebody has a vendetta against him!

This isn't directed toward a public-private debate, but why aren't all other sports divided into 5 classifications like football?

Why shouldn't there be state champions in 5 classes instead of just 3? If 3 classes are good for 95% of the sports why not have it in football?

If he wasn't listed then either his coach did not nominate him OR he was left off the nominations list.

I think the prudent thing to do is to call some of the coaches that are members of the TFCA and find out how they select there All-State team.

5QB, 4RB, 6OL, 5WR, 4ATH, 2K and ONLY 1 TE. If I were a TE in 4A I would be upset off at not being selected. An athlete must be a QB that they did not want to put at QB since they already had 5. 27 All-State players on offense. Only 19 selected on defense only 1 coach worthy of being COY, yep those sportwriters sure know what they are doing.

bull!@#$fan, You need to tell the college all-american selection how to do there selections also! I looked on the TFCA website before the state championship games and they gave the coaches 2-3 weeks to get there nominations in. Look how many coaches sent nothing. Then you want coaches to mail in their votes when they dont even nominate. Now maybe if you gave them until the super bowl to make there selection they MIGHT stand a chance.

I didn't read where you answered my question about coaches not taking the time to nominate but they would take the time to vote. Do the sports writers give out all-state teams for every class including the privates? I don't know if they do or not? Does the AP have a team for each class? Why don't you get in touch with the coaches and tell them your sure fired method of selecting an all-state team? Oh, BTW, I think the meeting is held in the 'Boro. The coaches have a clinic and they probably thought it was a good way to get the coaches to attend a clinic, watch the games, and vote on all-state. I ain't no coach, I just think more times than not they do good things. I've been to TUNICA, made a little money, a tad more than I lost. I still would bet you and I would WIN!!!

Hey, butthead, I just looked at the TSWA all-state team...FROM 2004 (it has not been updated in the past 3 years). Then I looked at the TFCA and they have every all-state team listed since they started having one. Sounds like the TSWA needs to update there list so I will know if you as knowledgeable as you think you are. See ya in TUNICA, Bozo.

Don't just look at who was selected to the All-State teams - LOOK AT WHO WAS NOMINATED BY THERE COACH!!!!! The wat I see it, it ain't the TFCA 's fault it's the coaches for NOT NOMINATING there players.

Let me see if I understand this. Coaches don't take the time to send in there nominations so you want them to mail in there votes for the All-State team. OK, now I understand you completely. Your crazy if you think coaches will do the latter in a matter of a few days when they have 2-3 weeks to do the former.

I can't wait for the TSWA team to be announced - I bet a dollar that they will not honor 20 on offense and 20 on defense.

What is it you don't like about the teams? The coaches nominate them and those that show up vote,or so I am told. Does the AP and TSWA have a team for every class or is it just 1 team now. If I am not mistaken, it is only one team. I know the Tennessean in Nashville has there Super 25 of offense and defense. I was told in the old days that would have an offensive and defensive team from each class in middle tennessee. Its about the kids and honoring them for there efforts. You will never please everyone, so just get over it. Or better yet tell everyone how it should be done. Are you saying if only 25 are nominated then they all make it? That is stupid as all get out!!!

If I understand the process, each coach in the state picks 2 of his players to nominate. If these are all of the player nominations that were received, then there should be some coaches at fault for not nominating their players.

If my figures are even close to being correct there are 330 +/- football playing schools in our state. If each coach can nominate 2 for all-state then there should be 660 +/- players nominated. I read on another thread where somebody was going to be p.o. if a certain school got players selected. Sounds to me like coaches are to blame!

Now admittedly I don't know poo-poo about Clarksville, but I do have an important question? How the heck can Murfreesboro have much better athletic teams than Clarksville does? Aren't the cities about the same size, about the same # of schools? I'm just guessing Clarksville doesn't put the emphasis on coaching and a high priority on sports success as does Rutherford County does.

If I am totally off base, tell me and I will apologize.

I heard some coaches talking that Maryville would already be in 5A, but there were some schools that moved up to 5A and that left Maryville as the largest school in 4A. I think the schools were from Williams County. If anyone knows about this get back.

Can somebody explain to me how Wesley Kitts from Halls was left off the East team? I mean, he had 1300+ yards rushing in the regular season and then played 2 games in the playoffs. I just don't get it.

From what coaches in Knoxville have told me the rules are like this: 1. Each school can nominate 2 players.

2. Each school can have two coaches vote, it doesn't matter if you have 15 coaches, you only get two votes. If some player from Lewis County gets on the team I would bet he gets more than two votes.

I heard these were the selections (not all of them) from 4A: Burnett - Maryville, Douglas - Maryville, Ryan - West, Kitts - Halls, Phillips - Sullivan South.

I do know this for a fact - Coach Julian from Halls was NOT A VOTER - HE WAS AT SCHOOL FRIDAY!

The fans from South Pittsburg might talk about playing Maryville but I would bet that the coach for South Pittsburg wont talk about playing Maryville. I think you all have been smoking some of them there left handers!
