  1. Thanks again for all the feedback. A few more questions that I'm still fuzzy on after reading this thread and the one Red Rebels linked:

Jefferson High School - was this is Dandridge? Nicknames/colors?

Parrottsville - nicknames/colors? Successor school? I see a few years of scores in the early-to-mid 70s but that's it.

Alcoa Hall - what's the story with this school? I see scores in 1967 but none before or after.

Jefferson is in Jefferson City. They are now a middle school and still known as the Elks. Blue/White.

  2. PUMMELKING, I need to add Englewood and Etowah as well. Right now, I am short on schedules/scores pre-1969, and I think those schools ceased around 1965 or 1966. But, I will add those very soon as I start pulling the pre-1969 years.

One other question for the board:

Many of the old papers refer to Tazewell, Mountain City, and Huntsville. Are these Claiborne, Johnson County, and Scott as we know them today? I assume so but want to be sure.

Mountain City is in Johnson County.

  3. I am trying to track down some information on some old/closed East Tennessee schools. Specifically, I am looking primarily for the nicknames and, if known, the school colors of a handful of schools:

    Knox. Austin

    Knox. East

    Boones Creek

    Friendsville

    Lake City

    Lanier

    Maury

    Porter

    Spring City

    Surgoinsville

    Townsend

    Walland

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Boones Creek Bars

    Colors: Red and Silver

They were part of consolidation into Daniel Boone.

    Jonesboro Tigers

    Orange and White

    consolidation into David Crockett

    Maury Hornets

    Orange and Blue

    Jefferson County High

  4. If Crockett doesn't turn the ball over then they will have a shot to knock off the Northsiders. Turnovers have killed them this year. Their record doesn't indicate how good this team is, but they have made too many mistakes. This is a season making game if they can pull it off. Best of luck to both teams.

In a close one, as much as it pains me to say this:

    Blazers 21 Pioneers 14

  5. East: Had alot of talent return after a 9-4 season.

West: Lost alot of starters from 06'

Boone: A Young team last season.

    Volunteer: Brings alot back.

GV: New coach could really help.

Cherokee: Not sure but I think they lost alot.

    Crockett: Still improving

Cocke Co.: I have not heard.

Does anyone care to elaborate on any of these teams?

Crockett will be improved, lost several skill people, but also graduated some cancers from the team. Coach Green has done a good job, and the Pioneers should be better.

Boone lost their quarterback to Science Hill, and several starters.

    Greeneville will be better.

West will have 150 players and be reloaded.

    East will finish second.

    Cherokee will be decent.

Volunteer will probably make the playoffs.

    I don't know about Newport.
