  1. Comparing teams that have played does not make a person simmple minded. All the people are trying to say is don't underestimate White House. You seem to not be able to comprehend that. Good luck BDP. May the game be injury free for both teams.

    BUST THOSE BRACKETS!!!!

We ran all over Liberty, We're not Liberty please get that through your Simple minded heads over at WH.

  2. BDP2003 - do you know that this is why he quit? Do you know his parents? Have you talked to him personally? Have you talked to his parents personally? Did anyone ask you to have "feeling sorry" feelings for him? If not, then don't get on a public forum and talk about a family like this - especially a 17 year old kid. What's wrong with kids today? Don't lump all kids in the same category. I have 2 kids and I would prefer that you not lump all kids into the same category. That is what is wrong with most adults - not all - but most adults. My prayers are with the Stem family at this time of loss for their family.

That teaches our kids a lot....I'm not getting the carries so I'm just gonna quit. This is exactly what is wrong with many kids today. They don't get their way, or parents way, so they quit. I have no "feeling sorry" feelings for him at all.

  3. LARRYBIRD33 I did read it wrong. Brett Boone is still on the team and should be playing but for some reason is not. One of several good players standing on sidelines not playing. I don't get it. That's what I meant by personnell not where they should be.

Most of all freshman squads go undefeated or only lose a game. This one is not doing anything that has not been done many times before.

PITCHFORK IS PROBABLY SCRATCHING HIS HEAD RIGHT NOW BECAUSE HE SAID THE (2ND TEAM) FROM PORTERS SQUADS NOT TO GO TO THE PLAYOFFS. DID YOU READ THAT WRONG OR AM I STUCK IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE? IS BRETT BOONE STILL PLAYING? I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE FRESHMAN , IM SURE THEY ARE GOOD AND I HOPE THEY CONTRIBUTE ALOT THE NEXT 3 YEARS , BUT YOUR RIGHT THEY ARE STILL FRESHMAN AND LOTS OF THINGS COULD CHANGE THE NEXT FEW YEARS.

  4. Yep, its getting down to crunch time. If the current players don't want to be only the second team to not make the playoffs under Coach Porter's tenure, they better get it together. We need to do a better job of stopping the run. This was evident in all of our losses. I don't think personnel is the issue. Maybe some run blitzes, but basically our D-fense has to refine their determination to stop it. I say we must focus and stop the run, period. After all, defense wins championships, offense sells tickets. Credit goes out to Smith Co. for their win, but we were a missed xpt. and fg away from the win. Prediction....... WH 24- MC 13.

By the way, the White House freshmen team is now 7-0. Last game is against macon this Thur. at home.

Prediction..... 42-6. I hope greenbrier, beech, goodpasture, and smith co. enjoyed their wins this year cause it aint gonna happen the next 3!:x

Pitchfork - get out your history book.....if this team doesn't go to the playoffs, it won't be the only team under Coach Porter's tenure to not go to the playoffs. Look it up before speaking! Personnel could be the issue since the line that got us to 3-0 is not starting or taking many downs. The "new and improved" young or mostly sophomore line is 0-4. Maybe we need to go back to the line that got us to 3-0.....just saying... and by the way.....this is not the first freshman team to go undefeated. Freshman play is different than high school play....

  5. When we contacted TSSAA, we were told that was the risk of playing football. There were 5 chopblocks in this particular game by the same two players and yes.....it had to be taught...not something that just happened. You are right....something needs to happen to the coach. The medical cost were astronomical to this players family. I wonder if there are any consequences also. Thanks for your reply. It has been a year and you seem to be one of few on the same page with me!!! Thanks!

That many chop blocks or Hi-Lo's or whatever you want to call them can not be attributed to just some random O-linemen playing dirty....there is a coach teaching them to do that..He needs to be fired and prosecuted. The problem I have with officiating in TN is two-fold...first there isn't a consistency across the board on rules interpretation. What's holding one week is not holding the next etc. etc. TSSAA has rules and mechanics meetings for them so I don't see why there isn't more consistency. Second and most aggravating is that coaches seem to have no recourse to address bad officiating. Try sending in video... try calling TSSAA..try whatever and it seems to get nowhere ...try talking to the offical's organization and you get labeled as a whining coach and things get worse. TSSAA backs up its officials to the nth degree...Do they ever reprimand , correct, or fire any? I don't know.

  6. I know they are going to miss a call here - understood. But.....in my eyes they are out there to protect the players and when an illegal chop happens and a player's leg is broken in 3 different places and they have to have 3 surgeries to repair it, then that is wrong! You may say they just missed it - well it happened to this player 2 times prior to his leg being broken. Then the player who replaced him, the same 2 players chopped him and he ended up in the ER right next to the other player. Any consequences for the players....no Any consequences for the ref's......no. They did not do the job they were paid to do...no matter how little or how much they got paid. They knew before they took the job how much their pay was going to be. That should not make a difference at all!

They are only human folks. Even the college and pros have blown MAJOR calls this year already.

If you think you can do a better job, the TSSAA are short handed and will be glad to take you application.

They have everyday jobs just like you and I. It would be different if they were getting paid hundreds of $$$ but they're not.

  7. White House has also beat Pearl-Cohn, Overton, Hillwood, that I can remember in the last 8 years. Hopefully, we will beat Whites Creek again. We played Whites Creek before and beat them - our guys can do it again

    ['t

Whites Creek..........too big & too fast :roflol:

White House's struggles against Metro/Nashville playoff teams have been obvious this decade with the losses to Hillsboro & Pearl-Cohn. I see this one being no different :roflolk:

  8. Porter did not give in. New QB and all the guys did a great job. Very proud of the WH team considering the adveristy and injuries they have sustained during the season. Tough seeing 3 lineman in the bleachers last night with boots and braces - 2 seniors and 1 juniors. We have really missed them and others have had to step up to the plate. Believed we played at least 2 maybe 3 freshman last night. Lots of sophomores seeing play time.

    Go Blue Devils! BDP!

  9. Good game last night. No Doubt - White House is playing with several players out - I don't think it is a down note. I think it is just all that the Devils have been hit with this year. Before the game even began, we were playing with 5 starters out due to illness/injuries. Then during the game 3 players went out. All 8 of these players are/were starters. Freshman actually got their first look at high school football last night.

I hope the blue can get well and heal this week.

BDP - you can do it! Everyone will need to step up this week. You did Friday night, you can this at Sycamore.

  10. Thank you very much for clearing that up about Mr. Pond.

And yes, that was the longest game. I thought the refs were actually down there talking to each of the players and getting to know them between plays.

I don't post much...but can we stop this already?

The referee's name is Al Pond and he calls very, very, very, very few White House games. I do not believe that he has called a White House game this year, but if so, it is only one. Al Pond has a very good crew, by the way. They are not a low-rated officiating crew. However, Al Pond and his crew do call the scrimmages for White House every year, and they handle a lot of freshmen games, so you do see them often in White House. But during the regular season? Not so much. In fact, I think it used to be more frequent than it is now.

I am not an expert on who the officiating crews are. But at the first game of the season, the White House community honored "Doc", who passed away last year and officiated something like 40 years. His crew is the most frequent, and because of their success, the most popular and well respected crew around this area including at White House. When Doc died, his son took over and the officials locker room at White House is named in Doc's honor.

    AND FINALLY...

The crew at last night's game was brand new. I have never seen them before. The clock operator evidently had all kinds of trouble and it appeared (I'm not being funny) that the head official was blind. Every time he took out his notebook to write a penalty or a timeout down, the game had to be delayed because he couldn't see what he was doing. It was bad for both sides but every second lost was put back on the clock.

  11. I don't pretend to know TSSAA rules with their refs. Their refs don't know what they are doing. I would assume that they would have to fill out some paperwork stating where they live and where they went to school. If you found out all this info then I am sure that TSSAA can find out the same info. I have no confidence in TSSAA refs this year. Supposedly at the Goodpasture game you cannot add time to the clock, they didn't have a problem adding time to the clock at WH last night. Not just once but several times. Did WH have the ball when they did this? No, Macon County did.

As for the extracurricuar activity after the play. Everyone has player that do this. White House has several that do, Greenbrier has several that do, Macon County had several that did, Portland had several that did, Station Camp has some - I could go on. As you told me about the injuries - that's just football. It happens. I hope the player who is in a wheelchair and on crutches through February realizes that he had something that should have been a penalty done to him and it wasn't called and the other two players went on to do the same thing, with no penalties and get to play the rest of the year - that it was just football. Last night both teams had extras going on. It was football.

bdp, this is not about our game because I am not pretending that anything would have changed that. Sorry about your guys being hurt, it's football. My question is about having an officiating at his/your alma mater. I wouldn't think TSSAA wouldn't allow that because there is bound to be some bias. I just know that the announcers definitely said his name in what little they showed on CSS...and it was AT WH during the WH-SC game. It is just questionable to me and should be coaches and TSSAA to make sure it is not a problem. Was I there? No...the flu has kept me in. Because we don't have live radio replay, I've listened to WH games. From radio replays, and what I've seen with my own eyes, the AFTER the play activity is not new.
  12. Greenbriercat2 - I so glad that you know this for a fact. You have posted this on every thread since the Greenbrier game. If so, we did not get any benefits from it during the Greenbrier game. Had we, all the chopblocks - you know where 2 players are engaged and another comes and takes the player out at the ankles - would have been called. There were at least 5 that night by the same two players. Two players from WH was sent to the ER that night and the same 2 players did it to both boys. One player had a sprained ankle, he has not returned to play as of yet, the other not so lucky. He has a broken leg, a broken ankle, surgery to put pins in both his ankle and leg and has 2 more surgeries to go. He is done for the rest of the year. These were no calls by the refs. Where was the benefit there?

As for extracurricular tonight - was you there? Did you see it? I was there. There was extracurricular by both teams. If so, then why when we recover a fumble, change of players on the field and then, they change their mind? Where was the replay? Do we have replay in high school?

If this is so, I have seen no benefits whatsoever at all this year.

WH 17 MC 3 with a few left

Listening to the game on the radio, MC announcers are commenting on one official. Can't see who they are talking about but from description, I am really curious if a guy named Pond is still officiating most WH games? Know for a fact from a relative that he graduated WHHS in the 60's and played sports there (saw a yearbook). He was the one that ref'd the WH - SC game too...the tv announcers called him by name. I thought there was something about TSSAA rules regarding officiating at your alma mater, but maybe I'm just thinking there should be.

And the commentators are mentioning alot of "extra curricular".... ????

  13. No one has but you.

What a great game. Both side played very well. Great job Cougars coming away with the win.

I know White House fans are gonna start talking about the scoreboard clock. You CANNOT go by the scoreboard. The time is kept on the field, so are the downs, and yardage. When the scoreboard said 19 secs, the refs on the field had 23 secs. ( I asked one after the game) You don't go by the scoreboard. Most High School boards don't have the ability to add sec back on there. It lost you the game last week when WH spiked it on 4th down. But Goodpasture intercepted it on 3rd down so the clock was not a factor.

  14. To eers: Speak of young teams, do you realize that most of the line on White House saw very little play time last year? Do you know that we were playing without 4 of our linemen last night? Two of those linemen are out for the rest of the year due to injuries on the field - unsure when the other two will be back. White House lost a lot last year. I believe that someone said that our QB had not thrown in a game to any of the receivers this year that we were starting at 0. White House has a very young team. Many sophomores and some freshman have seen play due to injuries and having to regroup the team.

White House gets on here and thumps their chest because we are very proud of our team. We are proud of who they are both on and off the field. We are proud of what our coaches teach our players and we are passionate about White House football.

I know Beech is proud of their team, and should be. I know Station Camp is proud of their team, and should be. Most Sumner County teams are because they play with passion and their parents back them 100%.

It was one of those games. I disagree with whoever said that the clock is disputable - time is time. Those refs should have made sure that the downmarker was correct. Isn't that what one of the refs gets paid for? Isn't that his job? If it were at White House and the shoe were on the other foot and the roles were reversed, Beech would be claiming that it was home cooking by White House - am I correct? I am NOT saying it is home cooking by Beech. I AM saying that TSSAA refs do not know what they are doing. I don't mind telling them that myself. Matter of fact, I think I just might do that.

Blue Devil Fan - always have been - always will be.

  15. Understand all that, why did refs walk off the field with no explanation. Shouldn't the scoreboard read the same. They reset clock if the time is off, shouldn't the downs match? Any school could try to screw the opponent by putting whatever down they want to up there. Correct? Should not have relied on that one play - I know that. But....refs should step up and do what they get paid to do. Two players for WH were put out last week because of chopblocks against Greenbrier. No calls. Happened more than twice - same two players. Refs didn't lose this one for WH but I still question. It was a good game and we still have improvements to make before next week.

Who knows why? Scoreboard said one thing and sideline said another apparently? Who knows? Refs walked off with no explanation. Beech players walked off and left their coach on the field. Who can explain?

Slimshady - you seem to know it all - why don't you tell us what happened so the rest of us will know. Thanks.

You don't go by the scoreboard...you go by the down marker. I thought Greenwade spiked the ball with 1 second left. If it was 4th down...it's moot. It it was 3rd down WH got ripped.
