Big48Eagle,
I have always been really careful about discussing The Cosby Eagles
players, strengths and weaknesses here on CoachT.com. There are a
lot of players and coaches that visit this site and I don't want to scout
The Eagles for other teams.
I don't mind discussing results or games that we have played at all.
I usually go to about 90% of the away games and haven't missed a
home or tournament game in 3 or 4 years. I will tell you we have a
great coach in Brad Flatford. This is his 3rd year at Cosby and I have
been very impressed with him. 29-3 and a state tournament appearance
last year, his 2nd year.
Get out and watch The Cosby Eagles play if you have a chance this year.
It's always exciting when The Eagles step on the court.

Your right jvaughn...my apologies, I was mistaken.
Cosby did beat Grace Baptist, but I'm not sure what the score was, I think the score was wrong on the schedule here on CoachT.
Actually Cosby beat Grace Christian from here in Knoxville.
This is a private school that is not even listed on CoachT's team list
We did not play Grace Baptist from Chatanooga.
I need to e-mail him again about getting this school added
and having that game changed. That's misleading but I didn't realize
what I had done when I entered our schedule this year until I searched
for directions before the game.

"decided by the players not the ones with the whistles"
Anybody know a shortcut to "The Creek" from Cosby.
my directions take me through Greeneville/ Johnson City..
I agree "let the players decide it"
Hope these help:
Take I-40 west to I-81 north
Exit #69 turn right
Follow approximately 4 miles take exit toward Johnson City (don’t go under the overpass)
Follow approximately 2 1/2 miles
Turn left onto 19E toward Elizabethton
Turn left at the first red light and left at the stop sign onto HWY 91 N
School is approximately 3 miles on the left.
Should take about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Take it easy through the construction on the Creek.
hey, thanks that sounds much easier than the route yahoo maps gave me.
How are yo doing Loco..???
I talked to a few of the Rockwood players at The Roane County tourny but didn't get to see them play. They all stayed to watch The Eagles play and there were a few comments exchanged across the court between The Eagle Fans and the rockwood folks. I've noticed that the players really seem to respect each other but the fans are another story.
Could be another match-up at the region tourny at Rockwood.

I think what may decide this game is Unaka's play inside and if Chambers can get hot. I'm not sure how many points Chambers had at Cosby but I don't think he was much of a factor. Unaka has good size but we were able to keep them from dominating the boards. It's gonna be hard to stop The Eagle guards, so the points in the paint and offensive rebounds on both ends might be the difference.
I've been watching high school basketball too long to make predictions but I hope it's a close hard fought game decided by the players not the ones with the whistles.
Anybody know a shortcut to "The Creek" from Cosby.

Threeball, the 1st Cosby vs Unaka game was closer than the 69-56 score.
The Eagle's Nest is one of the toughest places to play in East TN.
But I've heard Hancock and Unaka are just as tough.
This road game will be a test for The Eagles. But we've got everyone
over the flu bug (I hope) that swept through the team in early Dec.
It wil be interesting seeing if Unaka's tough schedule pays off for them
as the tournaments get closer. They seem to have a lot of talent but
it didn't look like they "gel" very well as a unit.
-
two big games I'm looking foward to next week are:
1/6 Cosby @ Unaka (rematch) - making my 1st trip to "The Creek"
1/9 Cosby @ Greenback - could be a great game - that's a tough place to play
They lost several players and Coach Flatford
always has The Eagles ready for these games.
-
Anybody have observations from these games.
Looks like it was big wins for The Cosby Eagles and rockwood.
The Harriman vs Meigs game seemed to be a little closer
Also I still need a response re which high school we're playing at.
-
My Cosby schedule says "Coalfield Christmas Tournament"
This tournament is at Harriman right..??
I have never made that trip before..
I think I can make it to the Monday night game only because of work.
My sources have dried up since school is out.
Any info/scores on any of the other Cosby games would be appreciated.
-
Oneida is also in that tournament. They play Cosby Saturday...
Do you have a time for that game..??? and/or brackets for the tourny.
With school not in session, I had no idea when The Eagles were playing.
thanks in advance
-
7 out of 10 times, Cosby would beat Hancock...but this just happen to be one of the 3. Cosby has trouble against teams with size on the inside, but watch out if they get hot...they'll shoot it from anywhere.
this probably should say:
"they'll make it from anywhere " not "they'll shoot it from anywhere"
-
Grace Academy has not played Cosby. They have lost to Notre Dame from Chattanooga, and Brevard and Orangewood from Florida. Cosby is not on their schedule, I think it is a mistake on CoachT. Just letting you know.
Cosby played Grace Acadamy from Oak Ridge not the Grace Baptist from
Chattanooga. This probably needs to be corrected on the schedule
somehow but I don't think (the other) Grace is listed on CoachTs list of schools.
-
Great thread. I love to read opinions about East Tn A ball.
Cosby should have won that game at Hancock. The flu bug
had swept through The Eagles and we were playing without
our senior point guard. I'm already looking foward to the
re-match at Cosby.
I think The Eagles will handle teams with size this year a lot better than
in years past. I'm not going to go in detail about Cosby's strengths and
weaknesses here on CoachT for obvious reasons.
I was impressed with Unaka's effort at The Eagle's Nest. They are a deep, well-coached team. It will be interesting to see if the toughest single A schedule in East TN pays off for them come tournament time.
I wish we played a home and home with Rockwood this year. I'm sure we've got a good chance of playing in the region tournament (which is at Rockwood).
The CAK vs Cosby games will probably be for 1st in District 3A unless Greenback or Midway really surprise me.
-
Thanks for the report chill. I don't want to make excuses but the flu bug has swept through the Cosby team and this may have been a factor.
I think our point guard Kevin Hall didn't even dress.
But even with a healthy Eagle team, I knew this would be a test for them.
Let's hope everybody is close to 100% for the big game Tuesday
with Unaka at the Eagle's Nest.
-
Was the game played at Hancock tonight or did it snow in Sneedville...??
I was hoping to make the trip across the mountain but I couldn't make it.
Anybody have a score and/or a game summary...????
-
Cloudland / Cosby cancelled due to snow in upper East TN.
-
I'm looking foward to my trip next week to Sneedville. The last time I was
there was the sub-state game when Eric Coggins and Brad Seal were seniors.
What a battle.
That was in the old gym. I haven't made the trip to see the new place.
There doesn't seem to be many Hancock fans or students posting
this year. I didn't realize there was a coaching change.
The sub-state game at Cosby was not a good way to go out.
9 seniors graduated....WOW
Does Hancock have any returning talent....???
Who should I keep an eye on...???
-
Worst Post Ever.
But maybe the best username ever.
Actually this is an interesting topic to me.
I might have to "research" this.
I would love to hear from some more players.
Alfred is probably in the majority. A McRib and a Mountain Dew.
-
I think I have to agree with these rankings for pre-season.
Chill said he didn't know about a lot of these teams and the
top ten is "JUST FOR FUN". Unaka was beated by Cloudland at
the end of last year (Unaka lost 3 of their last 5). So until/when
they prove themselves on the court this year #5 is probably
reasonable.
I don't agree that Chill "has no clue what he is talking about"
or 'must still be living in the 70s".
This should be a good thread with a lot of discussion about
East TN A ball. Let's not turn it into more name calling and
childishness.

Never will cosby ever go back to state
I think somebody's still little upset about Cosby eleminating
their team last year. With the talent and coaching at Cosby,
The Eagles are a threat to go to state every year.
-
I'm already looking foward to the game at Cosby on Dec. 9.
The Cosby Eagles also play at Hancock on the 6th.
That week will let us know early how the Eagles stack up
against a couple of the top teams from Region 1.
I didn't realize The Rangers weren't loosing any key players
to graduation last year. Should be a great series.
-
does any one know when schools will be put in a new region. i have heard things about it i was just wonderin if anybody knew?????
the www.TSSAA.org site has the link for classification as
"Classification Information for 2001-2005" so a good guess
would be fall? of 2005.

Kent Black led Cosby in scoring over McGaha?
I don't think Kent was the leading scorer. I can check on that.
Kent had some big games but I think Mark averaged close to 25.
-
There's a lot of basketball to be played before making state predictions.
Cosby has as good a chance as anyone right now.
We lost 3 senior starters but we've got key players returning and a lot of young talent. I think Coach Flatford will have them ready for any of the teams listed above.
Anybody know where the region tournament is this year...???
-
PFHS begins only its 3rd varsity season this year and it seems like people are already overlooking them even though they havent had much to show except there first ever playoff appearance. people just ned to take a look around pigeon forge has more talent comeing back than any team in their conference considering they only lost 4 seniors and they were all easily replaced they have a big physical offensive line to pave the trenches that is up to an average of 272 lbs per man in that front five. They have a big physical kelley washington type reciever in bruce belitz then you have your 4.41 speed demon zach schrandt at the oter reciever slot. then they have a new comer at full back chris owens who was elligable at week 6 of last season who has really came on over the summer who is also accompanied by the grinder at 6' 230 lbs at full back paul breighner and then u have a haus of a tailback who amassed 850 yards on the ground in five games after pigeon forge switched to the I formation. Then pigeon forge had the best rushing defense in their conference last year only giveing up 72 yards on average per game against the run and if u subtract two bad games against gatlinburg pittman and knox. catholic with hey gave up over 200 yards in each of those games the average would be much lower than that. but pigeon forges secondary still remains a concern because they ave up three big completions through the air for an average of 45 yards against cherokee in their scrimmage last friday but the offense showed much improvement in the passing game and the ground game picked up right where they left off.
Less time in the weight room and more time in English class for you.
