So instead of " home cookin' " at the creek, it's " home brew " It should be a battle inside. Scott Walker and Blakely can handle anybody in my opinion. The Lady Eagles lost two four year starters last year but they've got a lot of talent back. Our new head Coach, Dr. Williams has the girls playing hard on both ends of the court.

I wish I could extend the same offer to you for the Feb 1st games at The Eagle's Nest but basketball and brew don't mix. Be sure and give The Eagles and Lady Eagles a warm welcome. Is that place always as loud and crouded as it was for last year's sub-state..?? It's my guess many from The Eagle Nation (including The Honorable Mayor) will make the trip in my place.

This should be a great game. The Lady Eagles are playing well and should be fired up after a big win over cloudland Friday night. I wish I could make it to "the creek" for the games tuesday.

I especially liked the CHS vs CCHS headlines and opening paragraphs. "Look to make another solid statement fresh off a state tournament appearance" "continue their tradition-rich history with another big season." "looking to improve on their dissapointing campaign." "continue to look for improvement this season." We want to play them BAD. I expect the Cosby vs cak games to be battles as usual. I don't know if Cosby will continue to play them next year after they have to move up to AA.

The Lady Eagles were 1-1 at Oneida. I know they beat Harriman but I don't know who they lost to. I need the scores to post also. I might get more details tonight at the Cosby vs TSD showdown.

Hey, #33... Dexter impressed me with his ball handling, speed and defense last year. It's exciting seeing him start the year shoting so well. I think The Eagles have 5 or 6 players this year that could get hot on any given night. Teams won't be able to concentrate to on stopping The Eagle's shooters because we can hurt you inside also. Somebody (maybe P. Webb) said it best. Cosby never rebuilds, we reload.

For the Cosby Eagle Fans: 2003 at midway. The Eagles score the game's final 11 points to defeat rockwood 52-50 to win the region championship. The Eagles would then defeat hancock at The Eagle's Nest to advance to the state tournament. Back to Back three pointers by Mark McGaha, two free throws by McGaha, A steal by Jake Webb and then an assist by Kevin Hall to freshman Timmy Blakely won it for The Eagles. McGaha also made a last second shot that year during the regular season at rockwood over/under/through three rockwood defenders that I'll never forget

Yeh, that was Cosby that lost to Pearson in the finals that year. We had a good chance to beat South Fulton but Trey was unstopable in the 2nd half. Just a little history: Cosby went to State '97, '98, '99, '00 & '03 substate losses in '01 (1pt at Hancock) & '04 (3pts at Unaka) There are two Silver Balls in the Cosby trophy case. runner- ups in '99 & '00. That a pretty impressive run. Cosby is loaded with young talent and has a great coach. The Eagles will be a factor again next year.

My wife told me she overheard (at Food City maybe) "There's Cosby on the front page again" "why don't they cover Cocke County High like that..??" She had to interupt and add " Cocke County lost and is done playing. Cosby might have both teams go to state this year." Even though that didn't happen I only have good things to say about Cosby coverage in our local paper and radio also.

I agree with everything you said about Dr. Williams. He made sure he announced "the winner of tonight's game". Not "Cosby" Even though the game was out of reach for hancock.

I may be a game or two off but I've got the home teams at 17-6 last night. And 6-1 for games within 4 points. What a big game the region championship is.
