1. For everyone on this board that doesn't know. Cougarfan22, Cap1, 1tshelley, are all the same poster, just under different names. For Volunteer fans: His mission will be to blast your posts, because you layed the wood to them in football, just as he does Central in basketball. I can't remember which screenname you used when you said something about the SH and Central game. Central bball will be fine. I remember 2 years ago SH beat Central by 38 during the regular season, and we all know how that turned out. Just like the regular season in football for the Vikings, "DIDN'T MEAN NOTHING"!

Lol Like anyone is going to take the time to make three names and actually reply to their own posts. Doesn't make a lot of sense now does it?

  2. I think we can all agree that if you are a Central fan you probably shouldn't let the word "football" come out your mouth...and it looks like it's going to be the same thing in BB this year (like my preseason predictions alluded to in post #133). Looks like them boys on the Hill blasted the Cougars without THREE of their starters! What happened to the ???dangerously scrappy, run and gun??? Cougars?

    Vikingfan33 what do you think about your ???jamboree assessment??? of the matchup between the Toppers and the Cougars? /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

If you forgot here it is:

    2. "Hill (Everyone says they are 2nd best, but Cougars was leading when Vaughn took out starters, score was deceiving Vaughn had JV players in 2nd quarter, while Cutlip had starters in."

Cutlip probably read your post and pulled his starters to prove a point. And we all know what that point is??¦don??™t we Brock20! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I'm trying to figure out why Volunteer fans seem to be the only ones numb to the fact that the whole conference noticed that your team was (for the lack of better words) borderline overly aggressive last year. Do you think everybody just started making all this up...and for what reason? And as you can see, nobody in the conference apreciated it...but we all know what to expect from the Falcons and their coach from now on. Coach Whitmore seems to be a good motivator I'll admit, andI personally think he is a great coach...but I can't see him being excepted as one of the best coaches in this area unless he can win games without using those tactics.

I believe I basically stated the football part myself, when I said we could use their bball players. And your going to come at me with that when I bascially told him they got lucky against you all.

  3. I think your confused, Since you lost the game in football maybe THS should have used our BB players for your defense!

No I think we could use them a whole lot more than THS lol, but come on, you know you all just had the best night of your life and They more than likely had the worst, but then again they always do good in regular season then choke in the playoffs except for a few years ago.

  4. This is by far the dumbest stuff I have ever heard. Who cares what happened in the past? Also who cares what is said on here anyway, everyone has their own opinion and people that might not like someone will post bad things, but who really cares about taking the time to take someone to court over it? thats just ridiculous. I would say that if you have so much legal experience, either you have been in jail alot or your a lawyer, so I would think you would be a little more mature than threatening to take people to court.

  5. The only notable Dukies are Boozer & Brand. The other player are average at best. How many of those players are major contributors to their team? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Watch a game. Dunleavy, Duhon and Battier are all major contributors.

  6. That really shows how small your brain is...convicted prisoners...name one convicted prisoner on Memphis team...or past teams.....Those so call prisoners are ranked number 3 in the nation.... Tennessee and Memphis....Name some Duke players otherthan Elton Brand, Shane Battier, and maybe Jason Williams who is still in the league. He should have chosen North Carolina over Duke. Are you kidding me...

Well there is Chris duhon, Carlos Boozer, Mike Dunleavy, Sheldon Williams, Redick, Want anymore?

  7. Congratulations to Williams.Coach K is not the best coach in the game today.Lets see: 90 UNLV,91 Duke,92 Duke,93 No.Carolina,94 Arkansas,95 UCLA,96 Kentucky,97 Arizona,98 Kentucky,99 UCONN, 00 Michigan St.,01 Duke,02 Maryland,03 Syracuse,04 UCONN,05 No.Carolina,06 Fla,07 Fla. I think that the best coach right now has to be Billy Donavan.Donavan has 2 championships in the last 2 years and coach k has 3 in the last 17 yrs and 1 in the last 6 yrs. and the next one will be a long time from now.

Well you really cant judge Donavan on the past two years, I mean look at the players he had. Buzz Peterson could have went to Florida and won with those players. We will really find out how good he is this year with all those guys gone, he really has to coach now.

  8. what i am saying about the enrollment is they have 2400 or 2500 students and most of the other schools in the conference have 1000 to 1300. they should have twice the talent to choose from. about the 7 big time players going agaist them, i don't think that any other school has that many big time players to compete agaist them!! the style of play is the only reason a few of the teams can stay close.

Yeah i know That would cool though if there were that many good players on a team. Seems to me like the teams are getting weaker each year. Each team has one or two good players if that now. If everyone would put as much effort into the game as the players use to then we could see a change, maybe a team from the big 9 could compete in the state tournament. Seems to me like most of the players today, not just basketball, but the other sports as well, only seem to be interested in what they are doing after the games. Interested in hanging out and partying instead of hitting the gym and working to get better. Just my opinion

  9. with the enrollment those 2 schools have there shouldn't be anybody within 20 to 30 points a game with them otherwise i would consider that a loss. i don't see why they aren't in another division like their football teams. then the whole conference would be open to anybody on a given night.

Thats crazy. Any school can hang with either of these teams. The style a ball that the other teams play is what keeps them in the game. Why do you think Tn High is in every game, because they play a slow paced game. Why do you think no one tries to run and gun with the Hill? because they know they will get pounded. Your comment about the enrollment is just dumb. What your saying is if you take 7 big time players and put them in a small school like Unaka, then the Hill and DB should still pound them although these guys are big time players.

  10. i hope that there are more than 2 teams in this conference because all i have heard about is the hill and the tribe or just about 2 or 3 players, i think it is time to talk about the rest of the conference and let these guys rest up for awhile

Well who should be mentioned? I dont see anyone really hangin with the Hill or DB

  11. DB (Definite #1, they have talent up and down the lineup, COMPLETE all around team for Charlie Morgan)

Science Hill (clear #2, but not as good DB)

Then it gets to be anybody's chance

TN HIGH (proven they get it done in the past)

Volunteer (just b/c of style of play lesser teams will back down)

    Boone

East (decent offense, but defense is pathetic)

Central (will win some games at home b/c of fans, but on the road could lose some surprising games)

Crockett (cant wait to see the Crockett vs. South game, I will definitely be there!)

    South (we are just AWFUL)

The two best players in the conference are Keith Cradic and Dionte Grey. I would possibly throw in Justin Sylvester. But since the MVP should go to the best team I would give it to Sylvester. Dont be surprised to see Bronson Flack's name thrown in there by season's end.

Look for Volunteer to knock of some teams that they shouldn't and lose some games that they shouldn't, that is why they are just in the middle of the pack for me. But Cradic will put them in a few games just because he is a good player. (notice I didn't say great) He plays great against poor defenders, but as soon as you stick a top notch defender like Chris Smith of Science Hill or Justin Sylvester or that zone of TN High he collapses. TN High plays that slow paced game so they can keep it close with anybody except of DB. DB has the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best shooters in the conference next to Isaac Snapp of East. They have Dustin McConell, Todd Halverson, and Justin Sylvester to light it up from outside and against that zone of TN HIGH which will beat them alone. They cant guard all of them. This is the real difference between Science Hill and DB. Science Hill has the best athletes in the conference but DB can score on ANYBODY. They have got a GREAT post game with Flack and others down low. Then they sport the shooters outside, who can light it up from ANYWHERE. My son played for a team last year and was on Jayvee. In the conference tournament I recall Halverson and McConell each scoring around twenty and having about 5 threes each. Now yes this is jayvee but these kids can shoot. Then we all saw what Justin Sylvester can do. That goes unsaid. Just wait and see.

The Science Hill vs. Dobyns Bennett game will be a good one to watch. I believe that it will come down to the fact that DB is just bigger than Science Hill and they will control the boards. Science Hill is a much better defensive team than DB but there is no way that they can guard all of DB's scorers. If they go hard on the guards then they can't double down on the posts which have an average of 4 inches over each opposing player.

Boone will have a strong returning cast with Nick Young but there offensive fire power will just not be enough to compete with those from the top. East has one of the best scorers in the conference with Isaac Snapp but with his team not being able to get much publicity not being one of the top teams he may not have much of a chance to win player of the year. Though he may be the best offensive player in the conference. But defense.........

I am not going to mention my South Rebels, cause..... lets just say that we are happy with the football team. GO REBELS!!!

    MY BOLD PREDICTION

BOTH Science Hill and DB make it to the State Tournament. Justin Sylvester wins MVP, and the BOLDEST of ALL Dobyns Bennett wins the state tournament. Its a stretch, but the other teams in 3aaa are down and this just might be a BIG 9 CONFERENCE teams year to win it all. And that might be Dobyns Bennett.

I like the Analysis. If East has worked hard in the off season on their defense, they could be a good contender, but they never have a true big man down low so I think that will be their setback. As for Science Hill and DB they are at the top as always.

  12. I think that is EXACTLY how its going to be. THS lost some people but had loads of talent on the bench from last year. What people dont understand about SH is that Omar was the whole team. I would not be surprised if they lost some shocking games this year. I might put Volunteer above Central though just because of that bully type of ball they play. Its the roughest and dirtiest play in the Big 9 and people cant stand playing them. Plus they have Craddick back. Everything else looks to be in check

You must not pay attention to the games because Omar didnt play as big a role last year as he did his junior year. The other players on the team got a lot of experience last year, so Science Hill will be ready to go as usual

  13. QUOTE(thsballa07 @ Mar 28 2007 - 08:56 AM) 826424706I think that tonight Tennessee High comes out motivated and THS is throwing thier ace and they want to show that D-B isnt the best team and shouldnt be ranked 8 in the nation. I think its a good and close game and THS comes out with the win! Go Vikings!!!!!!!

Well tell us balla, who is the Ace thats throwing tonight? Its not going to matter because DB is going to run all over a inexperienced Viking team.

  14. QUOTE(HShoopsfan @ Mar 1 2007 - 01:54 PM) 826395073South isn't that bad of a location to hold tourneys around here, however there are lots of better locations in the area I think. I definately don't mind the 10 minute drive as oppose to drving to Science Hill or Tennessee High. I would be in heaven if they had regionals/districts at the DB dome. They in my opinion, have the nicest gym around, especially after the remodeling. Big, bright, and roomie!

If u want big bright and roomie then Viking Hall is the only place to host them. Its dumb to host a tourny like this in a dome. And south is way to Hot. need more space.

  15. QUOTE(Cap1 @ Feb 28 2007 - 11:49 PM) 826394327Ok brock...I give up. You have to get up real early to get one over on you. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

    WHAT A CLOWN!!! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Well see cap, bock is a rather smart guy. I mean if he would actually read the posts then it would seen as if your talking to yourself would it not. so either your a crazy person or hes an idiot which one do you think /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  16. QUOTE(Cap1 @ Feb 28 2007 - 04:11 PM) 826393596Put it this way...If I could have a team of say...five Omar Wattads or five Wiggins that would be great but the fact of the matter is that’s probably not possible. The bottom line whether we like it or not…ALL MEN ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL!!! You know who your players are and as a coach you should put the ball in their hands as much as possible if you want to win the Big One regardless of whose feelings or whose parent’s feelings will be hurt. And in return that player will sense when his team is in trouble…step up and make the points or make the plays to bring his team back into contention. This concept is only hard to understand if you yourself road the bench or was somehow in the shadows of a better player when you competed. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Well see im not disputing having a go to guy, but what Im saying is that the way TH played is good because they dont have players the size of wiggins and Omar. They have big players but those players cant handle the ball too.

  17. QUOTE(Cap1 @ Feb 28 2007 - 12:24 PM) 826393191I have to admit I was very disappointed with the Vikings performance last night…lets face it…the Cinderella season is over!! Congratulations to the Vikings for a great season that exceeded all of my expectations (and obviously everybody else’s)! Although it would have been great to beat the Toppers again and get another chance at DB…I feel confident that the two best teams in this Region are playing Thursday night. I’d like to give a shout out to Matt Layton, Josh Rose, Justin Seymore and Matt Fleenor the Viking senior starters. M. Fleenor…you will probably never get the credit for your contribution to this year’s team, but some of us know. Coach Roby Witcher hasn’t shown that he is willing to give credit to individuals. He somehow has convinced himself that not having a standout player “go-to guy” is a good thing, but that’s another thread…sorry for the sidebar. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

I’d also like to give a shout out to some of my favorites Omar, Throp, Coty, Hess, Wiggins, and I’m sure there are many more but these are the seniors that have impressed me the most throughout the years!!! Good luck to all of you. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Well are you saying every team needs one standout player instead of everyone contributing equally?

  18. QUOTE(brock20 @ Feb 26 2007 - 03:19 PM) 826390169Cap1, give it up...Everyone knows that this is you under a different name. All you have to do is look back at Cougarfan22's post and notice that every one of them has something to do with TN High.

Neutral refs = SH by about 15.

Yeah cap1 give it up. I know your really wanting to be a Central fan. I guess everyone is always going to say your me all because Im just a basketball fan that doesnt like to point fingers at the refs. All I did was state that fact. Cap or whoever else knows, do refs not travel there with both teams just about every year?

  19. QUOTE(Cap1 @ Feb 26 2007 - 12:24 PM) 826390004And the mighty Indians of DB only scored 54 against a 9th place Daniel Boone team in the Big 9. So what’s your point?

I’ve come to believe that we would have to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers (at home) to get respect from all the haters at DB and Science Hill. You guys keep telling yourself that “we just had a bad game”, or “we where cold from the field”, or “it was just a fluke”, or “the Bahamas refs help them”, or “they don’t score enough points to win”, or “the Vikings aren’t that good they’re just lucky”, whatever it is you tell yourself to sooth your egos. Have you checked to see if maybe there was a full moon outside when these miracle wins by the Vikings occurred...maybe thats the answer /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ? The bottom line is the Vikings beat you both…not once, but two (2) times…even with the “DB messiah” (Coty) and “the great one” himself (Omar)! I’m just sitting back and laughing at all of the same people once again posting their same predictions in a futile attempt to will the Vikings to loose by 15, 20, or more /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . They I will enjoy watching these same people say “wow can you believe the Vikings won…….AGAIN” /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />! I have a feeling that we will have to issue a region wide suicides watch if when all the dust settles, the Vikings are in the Regional Championship game against Greeneville!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

DB might have won if the Messiah would have given the sophomore another shot instead of just throwing up shots lol

  20. QUOTE(tnballer2205 @ Feb 26 2007 - 07:57 AM) 826389647i dont kno what tn high has to do to get some love.....they win the district championship and doing so beat 2 team both that were both in the top 10 in the state and they still are predictedt o loose most games they play???

    R u insane???

Well if they play anything like they did last game then he might be asking you that question because they score will probably be a lot worse if they dont play 10 times better.

  21. QUOTE(thehill23 @ Feb 25 2007 - 08:27 AM) 826388206This game will not be close, unless Tennessee High promises to take the Knoxville refs with them to the Bahamas or ref in the Arby's.

lol You must be an idiot. Science Hill and Tennessee High travel together with the refs to the Bahamas just about every year. How are you going to blame the refs when Science Hill has only lost that 1 game to them. Oh and isnt one of the refs dating or married to the head coach of science hill? So I mean atleast give credit where its due. Omar just got shut down last game. He knows more than you do and I believe he said himself that there was just too much defensive pressure.

  22. QUOTE(Cap1 @ Feb 25 2007 - 12:09 AM) 826388028I agree. I've heard all the stories and know about all the championships...but I have now seen "the great one" turn water into wine, right before our eyes! When you see all the championships you automatically think that he has inherited great teams and players...but that's not the case at King.

Well I wouldnt say his team is to shabby either
