  1. Yes, that will be the true start but the fact of the matter is right now whoever get's it done in the weightroom has a much bigger advantage so the workouts right now could be a key part in this competition for position.
  2. Yes, defiantely and there are about 5 to 10 will be juniors who are going to be quite good next year/
  3. He defiantely would help out the Vol's especially with his size. I agree i hope to see him in the Orange and your very correct in saying he was the best Maryville has seen! And to the previous talk about workout's does anyone no if they have any "stand outs" hard workers you no? I'm pretty sure they've said there are some battle for position already in the weightroom, but all I no is i want to know how the quarterback battle is going. This is such an important factor in the future of this team!!!
  4. I dont no about that one.. I have talked to a lot of people and they all say Davis wants it pretty bad. My son has told me about workout's and he said Davis works harder than most and is really improving, so I cannot wait to see the battle these to will enter into this spring and summer. Also you are right in saying if Davis doesn't get it he'll be ok he can kick that ball, thats for sure!! Swafford does have a great arm and you say you've seen him for 11 years, and im not saying I want Davis to get it but you haven't seen him play QB ever so you can't go saying Swafford has the 1up on him, I'm sure they both are capable but we will see who takes over. Also what are everyone's thoughts on a dual quarterbacking? Like Clevland and Maryville did with Swafford being the passer and Davis the runner, I no Davis is not even close to Swaffords arm, but if I remember right he came from a Wing T offense I heard so he can probably option, and other things of that sort.
  5. Who are the top sophmores in 4A this year??? Any position at all who domintated what they played as a tenth grader!?!?!
  6. I agree totally with the center.. also punters and kickers because a punter can turn the field and change a game, and a kicker can put it throught for 3!!
  7. You got point by brother plays for Rhea right now also and he told me the same thing the other day. But also the freshman QB Stone was pretty good too this year. He maybe in the fight for the job, but I still think Swafford will get the call next fall. I believe he is the most experienced at the position. He is expierenced, but i who knows.. Stone doesn't have a chance from what it sounds he really didnt have a good year at all in my opinion, and I'm not even for sure if he is playing. Yeah Big Mac Brandon McLeroy. I havn't heard if anyone is looking at him but he is such a good player somebody needs to look at him if they're not. Yes Mcleroy will be a difference maker on the team next year, talk about something you want infront of you, Julian Sharp and Chris Roberts will be spoiled by that big boys blockiing.
  8. My son plays for Rhea Co. and he tells me that Swafford is not for sure the quarterback next year, its between him and the new kid from iowa Josh Davis. They will both be juniors and will be battling it out this summer for the position.
  9. I SECOND THE WILSON STATEMENT. anyone can sit back and throw 5 yard passes to Ta Ta Caldwell all day and him turn them into 75 yard catches, the same for all the other recievers. Not that Ledbetter isn't a fine athlete, but you have to look at more than just stats.
  10. which position is the most cructial for a team to have? Sure most will think QB right away but really when it comes down to it most games have another key position player that makes a great FG or a long run, a big tackle or a long punt. what position is truely THE POSITION on a football team?
  11. I'm not sure who you watch but Aaron Douglass has the tight end position pretty well wrapped up, considering he was Mr. Football at TE this year, i believe there will be nothing to say until at least mid way through the season but the special teams postions are usually unknown but I do recall seeing the Rhea County punter as Best of Preps in the Times Free Press and Tucker Tipton from Clevland as his runner up so those two could be in the mix, quarterback Jake Ledbetter will be in the running i'd expect, running back?? wide recievers also?? lineman brandon maclearoy for sure up there from Rhea Co, linebackers who knows as well as most positions.. Predicitions are quite pointless if you ask me just let the boys play and after the season we will see who can hold there own on the gridiron.
  12. Well.. they will loose Caleb Wilson a should have been All State player at quarterback who is one of the top passing quarterback's in the history of TSSAA football, they loose a powerful back/reciever in Justin Prichett, they also loose All State reciever/FS Casey Mckinnon, they return all but one of the offensive line man but loose there entire secondary, how ever many younger players played thoughout the year. There toughest to replace are Wilson and Mckinnon, though Prichett was a solid player both ways they have an equaly talented running back up coming, but the linebacking core will miss him. So in my opinion it will be up in the air whether or not its a rebuilding year, there will for sure be a juinor quarterback so which ever one of those boys step up will have some big shoes to fill, but i guess we will have to wait til next season to be for sure...
