  1. Most every team progresses and becomes much stronger during the season, and HC is no exception. They were incredibly strong early in the season, so I can only imagine how well they're playing now. I dont believe Hendersonville will lay down, but I also dont see them pulling out a victory against this team either. I expect to see HC and Powell in a couple of weeks.

Also, could someone share info on how to listen/watch the game this Friday?

    www.wmufradio.com streams the games online.

  2. Jacketfan...I'm gonna be forced to agree with you..although a genius display of coaching on the red&white side last night...I would not be so humble if the cleat was on the other foot! You'd never see this in D-I college football, the NFL, or any other level of competitive football..therefore, I will agree with you! Although your offense didn't score but 12 points last night, I didn't wanna see them on the field again at that stage of the game!

Again, Springfield has much to be proud of...great community support, great atmosphere, and many fans spoke kind things to Henry Co. fans after the game...we even had a fan say, "we love y'all" as we left the stadium! Job well done Jackets!!

I applaud our coaching staff for knowing the rules and using it to their advantage. Springfield is a good team and minus the turnovers could have beaten us. I too, did not want to see Springfield's offense back on the field for one more chance. Which receiver was Farmer the former QB? I thought #7 and #8 were both very good athletes and felt like he had to be one of those guys. Congrats to both teams for a very entertaining night of football and good luck for the rest of the season!

  3. Section 9. All coaches will fall under one of the following categories:

    1. Full-time employee (a minimum of 100 school days) of a board of education with a Tennessee state

    teaching license or the equivalent.

    2. Retired educator (five or more years' experience) with a valid Tennessee state teaching license or the

    equivalent.

    3. Non-faculty coach - - Anyone approved by the principal, superintendent, and/or local board of

education in the normal course of employment procedures in accordance with applicable state law.

All non-faculty coaches shall be submitted to the state office annually. Use of a non-faculty coach

who has not met all the requirements listed below or who has not been submitted to the state office

shall result in a fine of $500.00.

    A. The position shall be advertised and no full-time employee with a teaching license who meets the

qualifications required for coaching the specific sport in question is available.

    B. Head coaches in football, basketball, baseball, girls' softball, and track and field must be full-time employees

or a retired educator (see #1 and #2 above).

    D. Assistant coaches may be full-time employees, retired educators, or non-faculty coaches. If a school is using

a non-faculty coach as an assistant, they are limited to three assistant coaches in football, and two assistant

coaches in basketball, baseball, softball, and track. Two non-faculty coaches, one of whom may be a head

coach, may be used in golf, cross country, volleyball, soccer, wrestling, bowling, and tennis.

This is article 9 Section E which you did neglected to post. I am not a lawyer, but is this a loophole ?

    E. A non-faculty coach may serve as a head coach in football, basketball, baseball, girls' softball, and track if

that person has five or more years of experience as a coach at a TSSAA or TMSAA member school and has

taken the ASEP Coaches Education Course in a TSSAA-approved course and completed the TSSAA Online

    Coaches Training Session.

  4. Here is my breakdown of the games which tennessee beat the out of state teams 3-2.

Jcm vs mcCluer (mo) wasn't close. Jcm looked tired but even if they weren't I don't think they would have hung with them. Mcluer's point guard shaquille boga (who is only a junior) might have been the best player there. He was completely unstoppable.

    Raleigh-egypt vs north pulask (ark).

Raleigh-egypt should have won by 30. I thought they were clearly the better team but they kept lettin north pulaski to claw back in it. Diere mcElroy and ronald brown for raleigh egypt were impressive.

Jackson northside vs scotts county central (mo)

Northside was dominated completely. The only player that impressed me was prather. Scott county had a good overall team. Otto porter had 31 points 20 rebounds and 8 steals.

    Henry county vs paducah tilghman

Henry county should have blown them out. But you could tell they were tired. Both teams played team ball and nobody had real big games.

Howard (chatt) vs john marshall metro (chicago)

Both teams were extremely cocky. John marshall got out to a huge lead but howard clawed there way back in it to win the game. Vincent garrent from john marshall could be a D1 prospect if he could shape up his game a little.

Casey Prather looked uninterested and played with as much passion as a dead fish. Only a blind man could miss his size and athleticism, but his ball handling is suspect. I can see why Calipari at Kentucky cooled on him going to UK because in his DDM offense if you can't handle the ball he can't hide you. I talked with two scouts at the game one of them having seen him at an elite camp this summer and he agreed with my assessment, but said that he looked better when playing better players. So maybe we can mark up Saturday's performance as him not stepping up because of his perceived lower talent level of Scott Co. Otto Porter on the other hand I think realized who he was playing and never backed down. At 6'8" he ran the floor well, rebounded, and had a nice mid range game. He definitely needs to work out and visit the lunchroom a little more often but I thought he was the best player in that game.

The PG from McCluer Boga was a smooth player and I would have loved to see McCluer play Scott County's guards #14,15, and 11. All in all it definitely was worth the price of admission and hope that it did well enough to have it again. Recommend Dyer County next year and hear there is a top five in the nation freshman at Southwind. Melrose also is making noise with possibly 8 D-1 prospects on the team from what I've heard.

  5. There seems to be a boys coach in Henry County from what I hear who does this. No, it is not worth it.

I don't quite understand this comment. What are you saying about the Boys coach at HC? Isn't winning why programs hire coaches? Our last football coach at HC before Gaddis, was given the pink slip because he didn't win. HC's Mens Coach wants to win and puts alot of time and effort into his team. People that talk about generally have an axe to grind because their son is not getting the playing time they think they deserve. No one is perfect, but these kind of comments by you are unfounded unless you know him personally. Henry Co. has won its share of games since he's been here.

  6. I would like to see najee at qb a lil more. I think he is the future. But dang give him the ball. I don't know if he lost yards all night. I know he was crampin some but he is gonna be a stud.

I think Najee played well, but lets let the coaches coach and let us watch and enjoy. :thumb: It's the first game they'll be improvements and changes as the staff sees fit I'm sure.

  7. I think Henry County will definitely be the best team in the district, but I do not think that we will have as many running clocks as many predict. Teague was a once in a lifetime player with SPEED and a high football IQ. I am going to miss him and Allen and I wish them both alot of success at their new schools! Both could take a handoff and score in one play especially Teague. If you;ve not seen the videos on the website set up by patriot 04 go watch. The videos tell the story of how phenomenal both playerswere in their own rights. I think we'll have a more traditional team, one that will play good to great defense and an offense that can string together several 8-10 play scoring drives while controlling the clock and field position. I do not think we have the same quick strike capabilities we've had the last two years. You are completely delusional if you think we do. We've almost been spoiled with one and two play drives although fun to watch. Looking forward to our first game with Libery which I predict will probably be our closest game all season and agree that they will have the revenge factor. Good luck to all the players in the coming season! Should be another great season!

  8. It's always difficult to name 1st and 2nd teams when you don't have accurate stats for any of the teams. But off the top of my head:

    1st team--Alderson-NE

    Sims -HC

    Williams - Rossview

    Stanton - Springfield

    Baggett - Clarksville

    2nd team--Etheridge-HC

    Rudolph-NW (probably should be 1st)

    Someone else from NE (James?)

    Snead maybe?

    Harper, Sparks, Childs? who knows

As for COY, no clue. Young gets a lot of the hype, but there's times when he doesn't impress me. At HC this year for example. Player of the year-Sims, although Williams will probably get it. I don't think Alderson has the numbers of the other two, and Stanton doesn't have the team success.

Player of the year should be Sims or Williams period. Both players have shown the ability to carry their teams. think Simms gets the nod over Williams but not much. Coach of the year definitely should be a two horse race between Wilkins and Cooper. Wilkins has the first 20 + winning season for HC since late 90's he's done a fantastic job in a football school and has less athletes than the Clarksville schools I agree with the Professor on his hype.

  9. I think the championship game was just played. Great game by both teams and should make both teams better in the future. Hc led most of the game but didn't come away with the win. Its a shame these two can't play again. Good luck to both teams tomorrow. Might be tough to get up after tonight, but these were definitley the best two teams at the tournament, no questions asked!

I agree whole heartedly! That was the championship game and it felt like it. Henry County played well the entire game, but DC got hot in the final 1:30 or so to quickly catch up hitting three 3 pt shots! James Dumas fouling out on a bogus call hurt since he was our primary ball handler and I can't believe that DC's final basket to put them up two was not called a travel. I give them credit they hung in the game all game and they were down by as much as 11 or 12. They just kept chipping away. Hats off to two very good teams and I hope they both go far in their respective classes!

  10. I agree that the facilities were absolutely horrible..

I also agree that it's not classless to sit on the other bench when your entire side is filled a little more than an hour before kickoff.

However, I told some of the people around me that I was concerned when I seen about 3/4 of HC players with their helmets off standing around with their hands on their hips during pregame warmups while all of the HHS players had their helmets on and were getting psyched up. To me that just shows they had absolutely no edge.. if I were Gaddis there wouldn't be a helmet off until the game starts and you're on the sideline, and anyone who decided to show otherwise would run some sprints.

Not to take anything away from HHS, they definitely did what it took to win, but I believe 100% that if HCHS played to their ability and like they wanted it, it wouldn't have been a close game. Everything about HC seemed extremely slow last night...from getting the play calls in, to coming out from halftime, to the blockers, everything... I know I sound like an armchair quarterback, and I can only say what I see in retrospect, but it's my perception of what happened.

Also: I hate the horns that some of our fans brought. I hate it when it's at home games, and I agree that they were being especially rude with it for most of the game, and it was even getting on my nerves at some points.

As far as classy fans go? Yeah, I agree that the majority of HHS fans I seen were extremely classless, but some of our guys were embarassing me as well. It's not classy for your students to run in front of our fans with your flag.. at the beginning when ours ran over to your side, he stopped where they HC fans were.. On the other side, I thought it was extremely classless when someone threw a bottle at them.. they're just kids being kids.. Then at the end of the game, a bunch of HHS fans were walking in front of our crowd talking smack (yet again, classless) but I seen 40+ year old grown men from our side yelling obscenities and making comments like "Go on the other side of your field with your 20 fans" (also classless)... The thing that bothers me the most when these people are talking smack is that there are little 5-6 year old kids that pick up these habits and to me that's not the way you need to show kids how to be a good sport.

All in all it was a GREAT game even though we lost... HHS' 4-4-3 scheme worked VERY effectively, especially against the run... I was dissappointed in both fan bases, but at least we made the trip.

Good luck to HHS next week against Maryville.

Very observant comments and would sadly have to agree 100%

  11. Wow!!! Henry County fans you have changed my mine about you. I was in Henry County when the Burros played in the semi-final there in 2006. I enjoyed my trip there and felt the fans were great. But, because you didn't win the game this year, you insult our facilities and you insult the Hillsboro fans. When I was there in 2006, I really did not consider your facilities to be that great. We had to sit on some horrible (I guess rental) benches that must have been the cheapest that you could rent because they felt like they were going to cave in at anytime. I do not remember you having any kind of luxury bathroom facilities. You have a certain arrogance about your team and yourselves, but your team cannot back up your smack talk. Look at who they played during this season; 1 - team that was 0-9; 2 - teams that were 1 - 9; 3 teams that were 3-8; a class 2A team. I really felt that Henry County would beat Hillsboro becasue I knew that you were beating opponents by huge margins but did not check out who you were beating until a few days before the semi-final game when I looked at your schedule here on Coacht and looked at the schedule of your opponents to see their win-loss record. That is when I realized, Hillsboro could just win this game. Your putting your team on such a high pedastal and underestimating the Hillsboro team has really brought out a lot of nastiness on your part. You say that the Hillsboro fans had no class, but these posts by you, Henry County fans, shows who has no class.

Good luck to your players who will be moving on to the next level.

Well I in no part am trying to be classless and would agree that some of our fans can let their mouth overload there butts. I respected your team and give credit where it is due, but I take offense to the postings of several of your fans on here that call "all" Henry Countians classless just because we sat on your side. I also have not an will not insult your fans. Your facilities are not good but that does not take away from your team or coaching staff. They did a spectacular job. It is you who is throwing daggers. I truly wish your team luck they came to work last night and did what was necessary to beat a great team. Again, good luck in M'boro!

  12. LOL! Yeah, somehow I don't think you would say that if Henry County was playing them next saturday. Like I said, can you say "bitter"?

Also, I want to apologize on behalf of any HHS fans that were disrespectful. However, Henry County fans certainly did their share of taunting and the taking over half of the home bleachers was just unnecessary in my opinion. I'm just glad HHS won the game to make it look all the more silly for doing so.

Sit on the hill, stand on the track, but don't go sit on the home side bleachers. I get it: Henry County fans support their team better than some colleges, but that just is not appropriate. I don't imagine Henry County would appreciate it if a visiting team's fans decided to take over a large section of their home bleachers.

HC fans were not being disrespectful they just wanted a seat. Maybe the city of Nashville should put more money into your facilities. Our fans had your pitiful visitors section filled by 6 p.m. Your facilities were horrid, but your team played well. Congrats on the win and good luck!

  13. Funny, people have always told me the exact opposite. That's all I heard in the 90's is how Spurrier outcoached him. Seeing as how UT has more players in the NFL than I believe any other SEC school I would have to say they might be right. Although, I am one of those didn't want to see him go. Of course this has nothing to do with this thread now.

I wish Henry Co. the best, but they are going to have to play a perfect game to win in my opinion.

As will Hillsboro! I'm just a fan and don't claim to know anything, but the team with the fewest turnovers wins! If either team has multiple turnovers it will get ugly quick. This will be a defensive chess match on who can limit the others scoring. I know that both teams will score no doubt!

  14. I would agree that a coach's impact on a game can be overstated, but to say the discussion is stupid. I disagree. The players do make things happen, but last I checked they do what the coach tells them to do. I have seen many times coaches get outcoached. Wasn't that one of the knocks against Fulmer. I know that college and this is high school, but the argument was still the same. Coaches must put their players in the position to be as successful as they can be with the ability that they have been given. Some coaches are better than that than others are.

No, most that I've talked to said Fulmer was a good coach, but he wasn't recruiting well. Guys like Meyer,Richt, Spurrier, and Saban were passing him by on the recruiting front. All of those schools and even Johnson? at Vanderbilt had more talent on the field then dear ole' Tennessee.

  15. I guess the question that needs to be answered is do you know anything about Henry County's coaching staff. HHS might possibly have the edge, but I'd bet you made that assumption without knowing anything about the coaching staff at Henry County. Myself, I am a Milan Bulldog fan. I believe we have one of the best coaches around, but I'm not going to give the edge against another coach unless I know about the other coach. I could be wrong, but that probably has something to do with Henry Co. faithful getting a little testy.

Coaching is important I'll give you that, but I've never seen a coach pass, run or catch a ball in a game. The discussion on who's coach is better is stupid. Obviously both teams a fine coaching staff with good players. Players win games! You can't coach talent ,a player has it or they don't. Coaches fine tune what God gave them(players ability), but any good coach always puts a players accomplishments on the player/players for working hard and doing the right things. I've never heard a good coach take the credit for a championship because without good/great players a good coach is nothing. Vince Lombardi could come back and try to coach some pitiful teams and they would be pitiful teams with a good coach.

  16. OK, BurroBall, referencing your comments about giving HHS the edge in coaching, answer this (FactsOnly please):

How many collective years coaching on HHS staff?

How many collective years Division 1 coaching and/or playing on HHS staff?

How many collective Division 1 bowl games experience on your staff?

How many collective years NFL experience (playing and/or coaching) on your staff?

How many collective NFL playoff games on your coaching staff?

How many collective NFL Super Bowl games on your coaching staff?

How many NFL Super Bowl rings on your staff?

    2 more questions:

What is your basis for giving HHS the edge in coaching?

and finally, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO RIDE THIS TRAIN?

Don't forget SEC Championship rings. We have some coaches with those too, but having said that I know that coach would say all of those mean nothing on Friday night. Heck our HC has won a state title but that doesn't matter either. Bottom line the young men who excute and take care of the ball best will win the game Fri. night period ! Looking forward to seeing two really good teams line it up Fri. night and leave it all on the field! Good Luck Patriots!! The harder you work, the luckier you get!!!!

  17. Amen to all of that. This is probably the most important game in HCHS history due to the way the playoffs are playing out and becauseit is the next game in,arguably, the Patriots finest season. We are pretty banged up so the presenceof the Big Red Nation is more important than ever. All of you HCHS posters out there make a commitment to get every fan you know to be there. Car, bus, train plane;it doesn't matter,be there!!! It could go a long way toward allowing us all to reach our dream.

GO BIG RED GO BIG RED NATION

If the charter bus is leaving at three how can high school kids/faculty get on it? Will they be excused or do you think the high school will early release?

  18. amen to that. higher seed should take precedent!

Maybe Mr Kreisky can take this issue to the TSSAA as he did with the reclassification. Whether you like him or not he presents his ideas well! He's 1-0 with the TSSAA! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  19. They played Melrose at home last season.

Don't like this alternating rule that puts us in Memphis as a #1 seed. If your a #1 seed you should play at home unless of course your playing the other regions #1.

Be ready for it then if Henry Co. is in Murfreesboro! I saw last year's Maryville team and this year's Henry Co. team. This years Henry Co. team IS better and this is coming from an unbiased opinion.

Don't like this alternating rule that puts us in Memphis as a #1 seed. If your a #1 seed you should play at home unless of course your playing the other regions #1.
