Some of the comments you make about DC make me begin to wonder if you really are a DC fan.

Exactly. It shouldn't matter even if he did come knowing Coach McCord was going to be coaching. Either way all these good players came to Dyer County for some reason. The ones who transferred from Dyersburg obviously had a reason they wanted to. Yeah, it is true any coach could be winning with this bunch of kids, but it does help to have a good coach, becuase as i said before, your coach not only motivates you but helps you get better. Coach Frodden was a yelling and screaming coach. Some players play well to that kind of coaching and some don't. Some players it may motivate to play harder, some it may put them down. Either way, I like the way Coach McCord is coaching these boys. Dyer County has the talent this year, even with players that aren't from here. Everyone that is a DC fan should just be happy they are doing good and probably going somewhere.

Goodness, goodness, goodness. Everybody is getting so defensive here! Who cares where the players are from. They are at Dyer County this year and nothing is going to change about that. Anyways, good luck to DC. May the best team win.

This post was not meant to be targeted on Coach McCord. Now I know no one is talking bad about him and that is a good thing. Back to what the post is about, why are we even talkin about "what if blake and taylor weren't here", it doesn't matter. They ARE here, they ARE playing for DC and i DON'T think they are going anywhere. So there is no use in even talking about, "what if they transferred to Central, or what the Central fans think. No body cares. This is about Dyer County and how far they can go.

Let me see her. I think this is either the second or third time i have said this, but i did not say he is the reason they are winning games. But i wish he would have coached last years team, and the year before that and the year before that. Nobody is talkin about Northview, that is Coach Becks area. He just needs to work on those younger kids to prepare them for high school. Back to Coach McCord, he may not of been the only one that turned this program around, but he has helped. Yes it does take talent, and no i am not sayin coach McCord is some holy savior that ZAPS talent into this years team. They are good because obviously they have practiced the game enough. They play as a team. They all use their talent together. I think they would still be a good team without blake and taylor. They may not be in first place in the district right now, but they would still be a good TALENT filled team.

TOTALLY agree with all of that. This post was just out of curiosity to see what everyone thinks about DC. And as an alumni myself, I think they have a good shot as well.

I know the talent was there before he was. I am not sayin it is all because of him that they are doin so good. But attitude can have a BIG impact on the way you play your game. And nobody is calling him a savior except for you. Some of us just think he is doing a really good job with the kids this year. I know you agree with that, but just becuse a bunch of kids have talent does not mean they are going to be a good team. It does help to have a good coach. Your coach not only motivates you, but helps you become a better player, even if you were born to play basketball, like Blake and Crittendon.

Coach McCord did turn the program around. I know how those boys attitudes were before he came. I didnt' necessarily mean he made them the great team they are today, i was mainly talkin about their attitudes, and the way they respect each other and their coaches. Having Justin Blake on the team did make a big difference, and they would probably be just average without him and taylor, becuase they DO make a big difference. But Coach McCord did change a lot of their attitudes, and without that they wouldn't be getting along as well as they do out there.

Yeah, i don't know much about him when he was in Missouri, but i do like what i see and know now. He is a very nice guy as well. I am excited to watch DC for the upcoming years. Even their freshman and JV team looks good. haha.

Coach McCord is a great coach. I really like what he has done with that program. He has turned a lot of those kids attitudes around. They are much more respectful to their coaches and teammates than before he came. DC's future looks very bright.

They do have very good defense. They almost lost it against Milan the other night though. That was a close game, but they pulled through. Milan couldn't even get the ball in-bounds a couple times because they would have to call time-out to avoid a five second call. Their big guy under the goal hurt DC a little, but Blake came through with some down town three's, and ended up winning the game by about nine i think. (not sure) It will probably come down to DC and Westview in the end. That will be another exciting game to see just like the last one!!

That is true about Justin Blake, and what makes it even better is one of there other best players, CJ Crittendon is only a sophomore. They are going to be good for the next three or four years for sure i think. I believe they will win the District Tournament, and do very well in the Region as well. I agree with you redbirdfan.

Dyer County has shown some very good talent this year. Very YOUNG talent! They do not have one senior on the starting five. Do they have the talent to make it all the way?
