Yeap Yeap! Y’all definitely wasn’t beating us at home! Senior class was 50 something and 0 at home. McKenzie was good & had shooters for sure but wasn’t beating us. Savanna Davis can score from anywhere on the floor, them Reynolds sisters are great when on! Imo SS by double digits even with Davis. But like you say we will never know, unfortunately injuries are part of the game. Glad she came back healthy for y’all & pulled off the back to back! And will go for the 3peat next year

Haha I don't know about 3-peat but I know this year was fun and like a dream really! However, I've definitely penciled in the Hawks for a return trip and back 2 back next year no doubt.

Yea I get it but with no inside presence on us you are barbecue chicken lol & even with savanna this year y’all don’t slit with us, sorry! We still win both games by double digits! We was hoping that she would return that second time we played McKenzie! But heck of a year for McKenzie & I think y’all will definitely defend your crown for the 3 peat!

Summer ball is summer ball, I get it. Those games aren't quite the same and don't really count. However, since I saw you mentioned a game with Bartlett and that made you feel like you'd match up with BC I thought about our past summers. I remember McKenzie beating y'all in a battle at UTM and then y'all edging McKenzie by 2 or 3 maybe once at their place. If summer counts a little bit, I don't see how you get to your sweep of double digits lol. All year everyone has the same argument about lack of post presence against the rebels, just saying.... Y'all were stout no doubt, but I wish we could've settled it on the court. I think it would've been two epic battles (a split if McKenzie didn't sweep), both less than 5 points. But guess we'll never know.

Most definitely the games would’ve been a lot closer… we still won those games because of McKenzie’s lack of inside presence

That's like saying the 95 Bulls would beat the Kobe/Shaq lakers... Basically I'm saying a blanket statement that can't be proved or disproved. I do know the "lack of inside presence" was stated for the past two seasons as to why McKenzie wouldn't win a Gold ball each year, including their matchup with WC. Winners find a way, and that team was special, they found a way. I personally think they would've beat Westview with shooters like that and split with SS and both SS games would've been epic battles as SS also was a very special group.

HC had same problem couple weeks ago when playing at Dyer County. Same type behavior on the floor. Poor bahavior extended into the stands Girls coach actually was involved in a verbal altercation in the stands and from what I was told was totally out of line. Seems to be a theme with their basketball programs this year.

HC has a lot of problems with their boys program and culture in general. But don't group the girls coach in with that. You're not gonna find a more solid dude than that guy. He is genuinely a really good guy. Could he get caught up in a moment? I'm sure that he could but I'm telling you you won't find a nicer guy.

  5. Super talented Bunch of kids , most talented bunch I've seen @ HC in 20 years. But character is bad.... I've seen 3-4 games and as a basketball fan with no allegiance I almost couldn't stomach what I saw. I'm not talking about the Obion game, I've seen video but I wasn't there live. I've seen games months ago with similar behavior. Kids on bench standing up gesturing and cussing out fans, mouthing on the court constantly like maybe you'd see at a city park or something. When I heard what happened the other night I can't say I was even a little bit surprised. The talent was good enough to go deep, but the character and integrity was no where close. Things always seem to catch up with you at some point.

Yeah that’s not what happened. Westview boys didn’t play the last time when the girls did so this made up for that. Westview boys and girls were supposed to play Munford Saturday but that game got cancelled

I asked some people I know in McKenzie and they said Munford game was canceled partially so McKenzie and Westview girls and boys could both play each other. They said McKenzie offered to come to Westview if it would sweeten the deal so the girls would play. But since Westview girls didn't have interest they ended up playing the single boys game @ McKenzie due to what you referenced earlier with football. I know McKenzie would have played though, if you look at the schedule rank CoachT puts out it has McKenzie listed with the #1 toughest schedule in the state. (I'm assuming by class??) I did notice Westview SOS on here has them ranked 49th toughest schedule in AA.... It definitely would have been a fun girls game to watch but oh well, everyone has different scheduling philosophies I guess... Good luck to all in the postseason, go represent West TN well!

I am starting to like our chances more and more now with Davis back. We have another big one Friday night.  McEwen comes to McKenzie.  They knocked off Dickson Co last night. We have beaten them already at their place without Savannah.

Hey why aren't the girls playing Westview tomorrow night too?

Maybe don’t watch them much. I expect his girls to play some.

Yeah I don't know either I just saw them playing zone early last night against GC, but maybe that was to contain the 6'7" kid that's so good. I don't really know what type of zone the girls need to play tbh.  If you're talking contain post players that makes me think 2-3, but also that will allow teams to slow pace and I know they like to play fast. You've seen them probably as much as me, what are your thoughts?

I like your chances too. Now the Wilkins’ don’t like to play zone and I usually don’t either but some times you have too. I think McKenzie may have to throw some zone in their arsenal because of their post situation. I seen Davis guarding ours last night and I don’t think you want her guarding the 6-1 post from Wayne County. I may be wrong but I watched Huntingdon’s poss  expose y’all pretty good. I think a good zone occasionally could help that. Westview I think is in the same boat but they play 2-3 zone all the time.

Doesn't the McKenzie Wilkins play a lot of zone with his boys?

Huntingdon with a dominant performance over McKenzie tonight. Their two post players are going to be hard for any team to handle. Coach David Wilkins has done a great job with these girls. They are a team to be reckoned with. McKenzie will be OK. They are so banged up I commend them for their heart. Reynolds not 100% from the injury against Gibson County the other night.

It would've been fun to see round 2 Against McKenzie healthy. The first round when McKenzie beat Huntingdon was one of 2 games they've played this season with everyone healthy and available. Prayers they get healthy soon and stay that way. I hate injuries in sports for any team. I agree also about the "heart" those kids still fighting have, they don't quit they keep playing. I can't wait to see where they're at in February if they can all get and stay healthy. I thought #12 last night was tough.

"Can't run with Mckenzie"? Remember, in the C'ship game, WC had 23 turnovers, with 17 points off of TO's, but still only lost by 4. Some of those young players that played in the C'ship game are showing already this season that they have matured with handling the ball.  No doubt, Mckenzie is going to turn any team they play over quite a bit b/c they do a great job with pressure, but IF WC cuts those TO's even in half and can get in their half-court sets, Mckenzie doesn't have anyone that can match up with Baugus. It will definitely be a fun game to watch if we get the rematch.

I remember watching that game. It seemed like McKenzie got tight in the 4th quarter and started playing not to lose instead of to win. First time being there, big moment, makes sense. I really didnt think game was as close as the final score. What does WC strength of schedule look like? Are they playing any teams similar to McKenzie that play that style? What games for WC will be worth watching going forward ? I'd like to watch them play some quality teams and get a good feel for them but I am not familiar with a lot of those schools so you'll have to tell me what games left I should try to catch on NFHS. Baugus definitely is good no doubt. I'm sure some other teams will emerge this season and challenge them both, there are lots of good basketball teams with tradition in A. It's just so early to tell much about anybody yet. I am looking forward to seeing how McKenzie fares with their brutal schedule ahead. They will definitely be battle tested by the end. Is Saturdays game on NFHS does anyone know?

  12. Wayne, Moore co both gave them all they wanted last year. Huntland is capable and houston county in their district is a good basketball team as well. Probably several other teams out there as well but just too early to tell. Gold balls aren't won in December. Which teams will improve the most between now and march? McKenzie is good no doubt, but if they're not hungry then someone will pass them.

I agree. Not the best player on the court tonight. Good player but not the best out there

She almost played one quarter tonight and sat the other 3. She was 2/2 from the field when she went down and impacted a lot of areas. You must not know who she is. If she plays the whole game there is a different outcome. Hats off to Mckenzie's other players because you're right, they made a heck of a run when they could've laid down and came out swinging. They've got 4-5 kids that can make big plays and that showed tonight. Kylie was tough second half ! They'll develop a little more depth going forward and that will help them still yet come tournament time.

Absolutely facts here ! Like I said earlier, no disrespect to Reb Nation, but Peabody had the top 4 athletes on the floor and the Rebs was in it till mid 4th IMO, Peabody hasn’t played a team this season more talented and lost ALOT of games due to Divas, sloppy play and kids quitting on plays ! I’m gonna pull for the Tide”of course” but the better team will win this game, unless we come together overnight that will be Clay County

How did Peabody get out rebounded so bad? That was one stat that really caught my eye? I didn’t get to watch it but I keep hearing how much more athletic they were.

On any given night any of these 8 teams could beat each other, not much difference. The team thats peaks the next few games can go a long way. This year it’s wide open.

Mckenzie has to be the favorite to win Gold Ball but they can be beat on the big stage.

McKenzie may not even get there. Don’t discount Houston Co./Wayne Co./Huntland/Moore Co. I realize Gleason beat Huntland at Christmas but crazy things happen at Christmas tourneys. This time of year you better bring your A game every night, no matter who you are. What does Mahs look like?

The Lady Rebels have not looked very sharp here recently. Had a couple of close games and halves against teams you would have thought they should have handled pretty easily and they looked exhausted when they came out for the 2nd half last night. McKenzie would have had to been at their best to beat a team like Westview  The starters have logged a lot of minutes thus far, hoping they can catch a second wind come tournament time.

I wouldn’t  worry too much. Their strength of schedule has been unmatched by any single A team. Their two losses are to really good AA teams and powerhouse programs. They competed with both and beat several good teams this year. I was skeptical of them early in the year but after watching them play @ Gibson Co and how hard they compete. It changed my mind.  It’s hard to be sharp every game in a 30 game season, but you play these games to learn about your team and how to get better. Kudos to them for not being scared to go play competition. Those kids play so hard, they’ll figure it out come tourney time . Westview is a really hard matchup for most teams. Wish they played again, would be interesting to see adjustments by both sides. Good luck to both in postseason.

Games like this a lot of the times are decided in the 4th quarter. Who is in better shape?? Who is getting the 50/50 balls and rebounds?? Who is not fouling and playing disciplined defense?? And like you said who is taking care of the basketball?? I seen Westview this summer some, but I haven’t seen them at all this year during the season. I am not predicting it but these two could play 5 times this year. These are two heavyweights. The only reason Summertown and Loretto didn’t play 5 last year was because the District Tournament was cancelled. These two schools have had had some epic battles over the years. Two storied programs.

I agree on all your points, two very good teams with lots of talent. If it comes down to preparation who you got? Most Of the time players make plays in these games that ultimately decide the outcome, but if all things were even, which coach gives you more confidence to have on your sideline?

Gibson County and McKenzie play Tuesday and it will be a lightning fast pace. Place ought to be filled up because it will be a war.

Gibson county is definitely the heavy favorite at home in this matchup. They didn’t lose anyone from last year and have one of the best post players in the state surrounded by multiple battle tested guards who have a high basketball IQ and can all shoot it. Mckenzie’s pressure won’t bother Gibson County. Wilkins will have them ready to roll. I’m not sure McKenzie will score much more than 40 against their defense. GC is a lot further along than McKenzie. I say GC by 15 +.

  19. I've heard it is being held at Wayne Co. High School.  District 12 wanted to host it on the Alabama line but TSSAA told them they had to use a central location for all schools.  I believe either Wayne Co. or Perry Co. was what was chosen if I'm not mistaken.  District 11 has no choice but to travel, I assume.  I would hope they would be excited to travel because that means they're still playing haha.
