Please dont tell me that East thinks they have a prayer? My son will be running the ball down thier throats ALL NIGHT. Coach Jones will learn his lesson once and for all ! This is my long awaited getback night to watch.......!
And I'm sure your son loves you posting crap like that. I digress. How dare I say something like that to a man(I guess over the age of 40) with such a fulfilling life in which a high school football game is "long awaited?" But shouldn't a game against a team like Marshall Co. or Lewis Co. be long awaited. I mean those are good teams that you should strive to be as good as...oh wait they beat yall. Good luck to all, especially to those like dragster that trash talk brand new teams! On a message board! Big Man!

These are guesses to stimulate discussion and will be updated weekly until the end of the season.
And I wish I could be involved in the discussion lol
A game like that one is why I prefer HS football to anything the college or pros have to offer.
Amen

Yes and no. I think by having legit regions in DII Large that parity is starting to occur, so better football all around across the state. Just give it a few years.

Thanks.
We have already established the 1st round brackets (see below) on this thread. The question is what happens after the 1st round.
The brackets are posted in the Football regulations of the TSSAA handbook on page 3 I do believe. For Class AA it was:
#1 East/Middle vs. #5 East/Middle
#2 West vs. #3 East/Middle
#2 East/Middle vs. #3 West
#1 West vs. #4 East/Middle
The higher seed will host in the first 2 rounds.
---Round 1---
A. #1 E/M v #5 E/M
B. #2 W v #3 E/M
C. #2 E/M v #3 W
D. #1 W v #4 E/M
---Round 2---
E. Winner of A v Winner of B
F. Winner of C v Winner of D
---Round 3---
G. Winner of E v Winner of F

Ryan scored a TD and 2-pt conversion to go up 25-24 with 2 mins to go. EHS ran back the kickoff almost all the way and then scored to take the lead. They scored again a few seconds later on an interception.
"Barely" means being behind with 2 mins to go while standing in your end zone waiting for a kickoff.
Also Orleans injured his knee and may be lost for the season.
wow...
Alrite then, here's the updated play-off breakdown for the best class in the state of Tennessee
---E/M---
EHS clinched
BA clinched
MS clinched
MBA needs to win 1 of 2(Ryan, MS) or have Webb lose 1 of 2(BGA, Baylor)
BGA needs to win 1 of 2(Webb, EHS) or have Webb lose 1 of 2(BGA, Baylor)
Webb needs to win 2 of 2(BGA, Baylor)
Ryan, Baylor, JPII eliminated
---W---
MUS needs to win 1 of 2(ECS, SB) or have CBHS lose 1 of 1(SB)
BCS needs to win 1 of 1(ECS) or have CBHS lose 1 of 1(SB)
ECS needs to win 2 of 2(MUS, BCS)
CBHS needs to win 1 of 1(SB) and have ECS lose 1 of 2(MUS, BCS)
SB eliminated
---DII---
Unless Webb wins out, the E/M will include EHS, BA, MBA, BGA, MS
Unless ECS wins out, the W will include MUS, BCS, CBHS

You don't think its unfair that private schools play 2 games to win a state championship and Class A-5A play 5 games to win a state championship!!!! That is an extra half season!
DII-AA schools actually play 3 games to win a state championship, and it's very fair considering the level of competition in every region and class game. It's alot harder to finish in the top 5 in DII-AA E/M to make the play-offs than it is to finish in the top 4 in some run of the mill DI region, where there will be a sharp decline in quality of teams at the bottom of the region.
-
What about Rhodes and Lambuth?
Let's Go Peay! 0-6 Woooooo
-
The county schools that are beig diiscussed in this article are schools that are IN Shelby County but NOT in the City of Memphis. Hit the link below and every school that is listed is a Shelby County school. The Schools on the list tht ARE NOT listed as Memphis schools are the schools in question.
It shouldn't even be an option for public schools to be in DII
-
Glad it got voted down...it would have ruined DII...

I'm bored
AP - you rock dude.
Please update this thread after Friday night
Thanks
Haha thanks, I will

All those teams in E/M are basically a lock(4 region wins clinches 100%, 3 gives a very good chance), seeding is not though
EHS has clinched
BGA, MBA, and BA need 1 more region win
McCallie needs 2 more
Webb would need to win 2 of 3 region games(McCallie, BGA, Baylor) and Ryan would need to win out(EHS, MBA, BA) to mix anything up in E/M (Baylor and JPII are eliminated)
Webb also needs BGA(BA, Webb, EHS) and McCallie(Webb, MBA) to lose out
Ryan also needs McCallie(Webb, MBA) and Webb(McCallie, BGA, Baylor) to lose out
The West is still up in the air slightly
CBHS would need to win out(ECS, St. Ben) and St. Ben would need to win out, 2 region games(CBHS, MUS) as well as 1 non region game(Lee Academy, MS) for the West to change
CBHS also needs ECS to lose 2 of 3 region games(CBHS, MUS, BCS) or MUS to lose out(BCS, ECS, St. Ben)
St. Ben also needs MUS to lose out(BCS, ECS, St. Ben)
I'm bored

You say MBA recruits... Here is where the starters all went to school before MBA
QB:St. Henry's
RB:St. Henry's,Ensworth middle
Fb: Oak Hill
Wr:Oak Hill, BGA, Ensworth Middle, Oak Hill (4 receivers who play)
TE: Harding Academy
Rt:St. Henry
RG: Harding Academy
C: St. Paul
LG:St. Paul
Lt: CPA
DE's:Harding Academy and Woodland
DT: Brentwood middle, Harding Academy, Browner moved from ATL Freshmen year so don't know school, MLK
LB:CPA, Oak Hill, Overbrook
CB:Ensworth Middle,FRA
FS: Croft Middle
SS: Oak Hill
K: Harding Academy
P:Oak Hill
So how does MBA recruit because those look like some pretty nomal schools that have been MBA feeders in the past?
Your facts mean nothing! lol They are a private school so they must be cheating in some way. Viva la Ronnie Carter.

District 11:Centennial, Brentwood, Franklin,
> Independence, Overton, Ravenwood
Centennial and Overton will be 5A, and Brentwood, Franklin, Independence, and Ravenwood will be in 6A.
Do they all play each other?
Will only one out of Centennial and Overton make the playoffs?
Which games count towards the region/district record?
How many make the playoffs out of the 6A teams?
-
It seems like someone might know, but how do they make the switch from 3 classes to the 6 playoff classes. How will the regions/districts work, which games will count towards making the playoffs, etc? It seems like they left a perfectly simple and effective system for this mess.
-
Well obviously it's a good thing that they don't do the mythical state champions like in the 60's. People get way to worked up about "best in the state." All that matters is what a team does in its own region and class and in the play-offs. It's impossible to compare inter-class(stop trying to argue for or against Maryville...they are really good, so who cares if no one can agree on if they could beat the top of DII-AA and 5A) and especially inter-division(oh boo they are private schools that give financial aid, like they are supposed to. I'm pretty sure shady stuff goes on in public schools as well, so grow up) Just have fun with it.
Top 10(alphabetical order)
Alcoa, BA, BGA, Ensworth, Franklin, Henry County, Maryville, MBA, MUS, Oakland
-
Technically not yet. If Columbia wins out and we drop our last 2 then they'd have the advantage with the 4-3 record and the tiebreak.
But then yall would only drop to 4th place, so play-offs are a lock.

There is a team here in Pittsburgh that is the best high school team I have ever seen. Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA, a Pittsburgh suburb, is loaded with talent. Prior to this team the best teams I have seen were the Melrose teams in the 90's and the South Panola team with Dewayne Rudd and Deshea Townsend. They would defeat both those teams. Maryville could stay close for a half but not much longer. They have at least 15-20 high D-1 players. They have 2 players Dorian Bell an Ohio State committ and Corey Brown undecided selected to play in the Army All American game. That leads to this question: Why is TN football lacking in quality?
According to unapproved website, which is usally pretty dead on, they are #184 and haven't played any team in the top 1000. They may be really good but im sure a load of teams from Texas, Florida, and yes even in our little state of Tennessee, could beat them. Despite a lack of big name recruits coming from the state recently...Turner starts at USC, Tate at ND, and Hightower at Bama...I think the state's top 25 teams match up pretty well with any other states top 25.
-
I'm not "crying" about anything. But put yourself in the other teams shoes. This game is all about sportsmanship and I think allot of coaches forget that. No I wasnt there, but he could have called off the dogs and cruised after 45 or 50 points. right or wrong? I'm not trying to ruffel anyones feathers, just my 2 cents worth
Well the game is actually about winning so congratulations to GP. And if the JV/Freshman were put in early that is "calling off the dogs." Is the coach going to tell his players to not run the offense how they've been coached to? Do you want some 14-15 year old to run out of bounds or let himself be tackled just so someone else doesn't feel bad? But alas, welcome to America. The place where everyone gets a trophy. Good for you!
-
Yeah, HHS has good talent this year (not as much as we once had at the Burro though), but I can guarantee you that they aren't winning games on talent alone. They have a very good coaching staff at HHS this year....I would readily put it up against any others in the state of TN. The challenge is getting those superior athletes to play disciplined like you mentioned....you're right HHS didn't play very disciplined against Franklin (which is a big reason why they lost) and Stratford, but that is a longer and more frustrating process than some people might think. Imagine what it will be like at HHS when it finally happens though....Wow, scary thought when I consider the talent that HHS had from 2000-2003.
I completely agree. I know Blade is a good coach(won state championships in CA so). And I always though that HHS should have won more state titles than they have. Hopefully Blade will stick around and it'll pay off. It'd benefit Metro/Mid Tenn football a ton.

Now here's some interesting picks: Oakland to beat BA, Ensworth to beat Maryville, but Alcoa to beat Hillsboro. Just a gut feeling on these picks?
Educated guess on Oakland/BA (saw the film from the summer scrimmage where Oakland won and I think Coach Mac can outcoach anyone in the state)
Ensworth/Maryville...well I guess partial DII bias lol and I think Ricky Bowers is one of the few coaches in the state that can come close to matching up with Quarles. And they've got alot of speed. And I've gotta have an upset pick lol.
I got to see Hillsboro on TV against Franklin and Stratford, and it just felt that they got by on pure talent rather than fundamentals/etc. And I haven't seen Alcoa this year, but I saw plenty of Rankin coached Riverdale teams and they were like a machine, and they almost broke Maryville's streak so.
-
I don't wanna make this a private/public debate, and I'm not predicting who would win, but I think the only time, outside of Alcoa, that Maryville would see a team as disciplined and with close to or equal coaching would be if they played a top DII team. Until then, or until Alcoa beats them, the streak goes on.
